Group booking recently for over 40 people - not one units standard met our expectations in terms of cleaness or supplied fully with working t.v sky and missing cooking utensils. A few of the team members left a night early were not impressed with sharing the bed with crawlies - didnt like the cockroach scuttling in the kitchen and the dried blood spots on the sheets. A few units were booked to other people - one unit in particular seemed to be running a business with lots of male visitors coming and going literally day and night - not a safe place for family - not a clean place for anyone. Very dissapointed as we had used this motel a few years earlier and it was alot cleaner back then - they will certianly not get any more business from our way which was woth a few thousand dollars.

This is the worst motel I have ever seen. We were in there only 5 mins, packed our bags and asked for our money back. Lucky for us we got it back.. Very smelly and filthy. I have not seen candlewick bedspreads since the 70's and the furniture looked like it came off the side of the road. It was our last night in NZ after staying in beautiful motels for the 2 weeks we were there. We were not going to end our fantastic holiday by staying there. It gave me the shivers. I am surprised that that motel still operates. Its an absolute disgrace.

Hi, myself, my sister and my 2daughters stayed at this lodge for just over 3 weeks,in those 3 weeks we experienced a home away from home stay. We didn't expect anything flash as they don't advertise to be a 4,5 star motel even a 3 star, the Lady there was very friendly and helpful & always had a smile, If we ever needed anything all we had to do was ask and it was provided, cooking utensils, coffee, sugar etc,After reading the reviews from others who have stayed here this saddens me, Its a motor lodge! wat do you expect, they don't claim to be a 3,4,5 star motel, its not the Sheraton, wat you see is wat you get, its a comfortable lodge with competitive prices,on some days we saw people disrespect this poor hard working women all because at the end of the day she was a little asian woman who was not going to be intimadated by intoxicated people, I an my family will stay there any time & know we will be comfortable an warm, To those who haven't had the pleasure of staying there yet please remember you treat others how you like to be treated, if you need anything just ask and it will be given, your stay will be a lot more comfortable.

I wouldn't recommend this dump to my worst enemy. After a long drive up from Wanganui yesterday, all my daughter and I wanted was a good night's sleep, but...

Where to start? The room was hot and stuffy, but when we opened the windows to let in some air we let all the wonderful Gt South Rd traffic, and trains seem to rumble past all night! The beds and pillows were rock hard, and everything in the room was dirty and in a sad state of disrepair. I even had to use a key to press the TV remote buttons! There were notes everywhere - "Out of order" "Contact the reception desk if this device doesn't work properly" etc. I doubt the owners have spent a dollar on upkeep since 1979. I got hardly any sleep last night and had a sore back this morning. Plus the "clean" bathtowel I used after showering smelt so dirty I can only assume it never gets washed. Also, the woman at reception had a lot of problems with the Eftpos machine, and I "accidentally" got charged an extra $118 - although when I went back this afternoon, she quickly refunded it into my account. But still...!

Avoid this pigsty like the plague. Without doubt THE WORST motel experience I've ever had!

This is the worst place I have ever stayed! I didn't even shower the next day because I would of felt more dirty than if I did! Mould on the curtains and walls! The room stunk like a smelly pub. Dust everywhere and even empty smoke packet on shelve from who knows when. Fridge was warm and dirty. Bed hard and uncomfortable ended up bringing my own blankets and pillow in out of fear as to what I might be laying on. Makes me feel sick just thinking about this place and the fact it's still open! This place needs to be shut down!!!!

Stayed there to rest for at least four hours but the motel was a bit dirty. Shower and heater were out of order.
I paid $40 but it's like you get what you pay for. I recommend it for those short in the financial budget. Toilet was dirty and receptionist has minimal English.
So so.

Culdn't believe it.Being close to Manurewa RSA thrt yeah this b jst fine.Got our room, lookd ok.Nywy unlocked our door took luggage in(did smell a bit musty)n left.Went back abt 5:30pm to have shower.I really wasn't happy at all,the shower, toilet, handbasin, floor, walls was jst filth. We take towels with us when we travel,so never used their hard smelly towels bt we did leave them on the floor for them to put thru the wash again. You get no Room Service n the linen is absolutely disqusting. So People this Lodge is the Worst ever i have seen.I advise anyone looking for accomodation arnd Maurewa Area go straight pass this one. "Not Fit For Anyone" close it down...

We stayed here for just one night, that's all I could take. The rooms are in desperate need of an upgrade.
Beds - there were three, two single and a double/queen. One single bed was built onto the wall, and so hard! The other single bed seemed to be from the 1960's and sagged. The big bed wasn't too bad but really needed to be replaced. The bedspreads on the single beds were stained - I don't even want to imagine with what!!
Bathroom - Big bathroom, good towels, huge shower. Needs a good painting and upgrading.
Kitchenette - ask for a toaster at reception as they aren't in the rooms, has a kettle, microwave, tea and coffee.
Noise - we were there over a Saturday night where there was a party going on nearby until after midnight, and trains run nearby all night!!
Carpets - stained and need to be replaced.

I really don't know what the deal is with all the stains in unit 4 and I don't know if the other units were like ours. We paid $89 and we feel that it was over priced for such a bad stay.
