Our meal was a present from our sons for our 50th wedding anniversary. The food was excellent and the menu a delight. We did not try the seven-course taster menu but it was very tempting. The service was friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. Well worth a visit and highly recommended.

Highly recommended, in a fantastic central location in the peak district. Beautiful food for dinner and breakfast, and the rooms were very comfortable with great views. Only niggle is that they were a bit too hot, but in January, I'd prefer that to too cold!

We stayed for three nights and had a super time. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was sparkling. However the best thing about this lovely place was the food that James and his team prepared. Quite honestly it was fabulous and we and our friends couldn't wait for the next meal. Would definitely return and will certainly tell...

We stayed here for two nights with my ninety year old father and family. What made our visit was the warm welcome from the proprietor and chef James and this was apparent through the whole of our stay. He really did go out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. The food as expected was superb and worthy...

We stopped here for the night and the other reviews were right. This is a fantastic place to stay. We had a first class dinner and then a wonderfully restful nights sleep. Dinnerwise I'd recommend the belly pork and try their bread, fresh and incredibly tasty!

I stayed at the Samuel Fox for three nights and loved every minute. James, the proprietor and head chef is a regular presence 'front of house' and is helpful, professional and efficient. The inn has only four rooms, and they are of a high standard and very comfortable. The welcoming gift of sherry and hand-made chocolates is a unique touch....

Another fabulous meal at the Samuel Fox. Great choices of & reasonably priced wine list. We had sea smoked trout & scotch egg to start. Both were lovely but the scotch egg stole the show - perfection on my plate. Light, with beautiful crumbs, top quality meat & the egg had a slightly runny centre. We had rib eye steak...

My fiancée and I stayed for a night away and fantastic meal the weekend after valentines at this unique little gem of a place. The room itself was lovely, well equipped and cosy. Fantastic little touches abounded that really set it apart which ranged from the diverse selection of teas, to the sherry and grapes. The meal itself was fantastic,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Samuel Fox Country Inn is situated in the pretty village of Bradwell in the heart of the Hope Valley in Derbyshire's peak District National park and offers breathtaking views from the bar and restaurant. The building underwent a full refurbishment in July 2008 and is modern and stylish while still managaing to retain its rustic charm. All of its rooms are delux double rooms with en-suite bathrooms; they have at least 26 inch flat screen televisions;internet access and coffee and tea facilities. In October 2012 the Inn was acquired by new manager and head chef, James Duckett in his first pub venture after an early career in the kitchens of fine dining restaurants in the UK, France, Netherlands and Australia and, more recently running his own restaurants in Devon and Andalucia. James is passionate about food and uses, wherever possible, good locally sourced, seasonal ingredients to create mouthwatering dishes, for his 'blackboard' bar snacks and a la carte lunch and dinner menus alike. With two AA rosettes, fine food is a special feature of the Samuel Fox. However, there's also a very warm welcome awaiting those wishing to just enjoy a drink in comfortable and convivial surroundings. ... more   less
