This is my favourite hotel in the peaks for the following reasons: It's a beautiful building In a beautiful setting Not grand or ostentatious - just quality. The staff are superb (Jo is great fun) The food is exquisite. The set up is classic in terms of decor, service, bar area and grounds. Not plastic, not new. You can walk...

We booked dinner B&B for a three night stay. The quality of this hotel might be summed up by the fact that only 7 or the 14 rooms were occupied on any one of those three days. Quaint is one word to describe it. Odd would be another. No complaints about the quality of our garden room which was very...

As it was my birthday, and I was working at Bakewell show, we booked in here for 2 nights. Our friends had previously visited and said that the owners couldn't have been more accommodation. The room was quaint and the addition of nuts and sherry in the room was pleasantly different.

Disappointed with room, although very nicely appointed double bed was basic 4'6" so tight, extractor fan chimney right outside our window so noisy, wet room flooded so unpleasant, duty manager feigned no knowledge of the problem but my guess is its been reported daily by housekeeping. Meal was fine dining and was good but not great which is the expected...

Expensive for bed & breakfast. However, we had the set £45.00 dinner also. Enjoyed the whole stay very much. Service excellent. Quality of food very good. Excellent little touches - dressing gowns, fruit, nibbles, sherry, biscuits in room. Initially, bed seemed hard but was actually very comfortable with quality bedding. Our Greenfinch room could have taken a bigger than double...

Great setting for this hotel and the staff were excellent. The double bed was very small and very uncomfortable. They need to replace it with a wider one! We are not big people by the way!! Wi-fi did not work in the rooms and they need to sort that. Excellent breakfast. Poor nights sleep so would not go back

Ideally situated in the heart of the Peake District you are probably paying a price for its ideal position. The room was nice and probably the largest. The monster bathroom and bath a big plus but the Midnight curfew seemed unnecessary. It is we think over priced but it seemed full and it is the height of summer. Try's to...

Room and ensuite old fashioned, but clean, quaint, comfortable, excellent 6 ft bed, plenty of storage, large flat screen TV, tea/coffee tray, fresh cold milk in flask a nice touch. Wifi worked well...

Room very small, with small double bed (more of a single room) thought it was expensive. Continental breakfast good and fruit and sherry appreciated. The price of the evening meal very expensive. Staff very helpful and hotel in a nice location.

The rudest and most charmless receptionist I've ever had the misfortune to meet. What a pity because the hotel in itself is quite charming. (She was the larger of the two receptionists and on the afternoon shift, the other one was lovely).
