We had a fantastic stay at this wonderful B&B. We travelled to the Peak District, after our daughters graduation ceremony in Loughborough. We thought we would have a few days here to explore the Peak District. The owners John and Gilly were really friendly, and the breakfasts were fantastic, Gilly is a brilliant cook, particularly loved her scrambled eggs! There...

Had a lovely four night stay here in July. Fantastic place to stay in a beautiful setting by the river. Feeding the trout is a must for all guests! Really can’t be faulted, every detail is thought of and John & Jilly are the perfect hosts. As with other comments on here we also agree the breakfasts are first class...

River Cottage is an excellent B & B. We had room 4 which was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The house itself is lovely with amazing gardens. We really enjoyed sitting by the river watching the fish. Breakfast is excellent, freshly cooked and very tasty. We particularly enjoyed the homemade bread! John was a great help with advice on places...

IF you want a fantastic B & B look no further. Nothing was to much trouble. It is fairly central for most things in the peaks. The 2 eateries in the village are OK food wise but the service leaves a lot to be desired, so the best pick is the White Lion in Gt Longstone a couple of miles...

Our hosts, John and Jilly could not have been more helpful in any respect. From the warm welcome on arrival to the bottle of wine down by the waterfront of the river Wye and the locally sourced ingredients for the wonderful breakfasts, our small group of six walkers were mollycoddled till we left after four restful nights. Despite being yards...

We stayed at river Cottage for only one night but wished we could have stayed longer. The location is lovely and the garden by the river is a delight. John and Gilly were the perfect hosts with nothing being to much trouble. We will most definitely try and find an excuse to stay again.

This B&B is in a great location for the Derbyshire sights such as Chatsworth House. The village of Ashford is really picturesque and both local pubs serve excellent food. This would probably be sufficient reason for booking River Cottage but that's just the beginning. The bedrooms are large, clean and the bed comfortable. Our en-suite was fitted with all what...

So impressed was I by the consistantly high standard of TA reviews for River Cottage and on the strength of them, we cancelled a booking elsewhere to stay 2 nights at River Cottage. From the moment we arrived we knew it to be a sound decision of ours. Our room was a good size, comfortable bed and with a lovely...

I had booked trip for my myself, fiancé and my parents to visit Chatsworth, a lifelong dream of mine. I found River Cottage on the web and was impressed with the fantastic reviews on trip advisor and on the main website. In the lead up to our stay I received regular emails from Gilly and John at River Cottage providing...

This B&B was perfect for us. We were a group of friends from the states and France. The owners were most helpful from arrival to departure. The rooms were excellent, quiet, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was everything it should be and more. The gardens were a delight. Would certainly recommend and hope to return.
