It is a four star and not a five star hotel but the newly built suites and spa have a clear five star potential. The service was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was great and it is an excellent place to chill and hike. The food was excellent, some minor things does do apply for five stars: missing good air condition on the suites, the bikes were new but small finally the dinner rooms could be split to an adults only only and family section as this is offered for spa and sky pool which is a superior experience. It gets quite busy at dinner at the buffet and the waiters are quite busy. The place at hotel pools etc. is never crowed and you have plenty of options. The Schwarzenberg Suite is one of the best ones we have seen, a lot of space. Prices are very reasonable compared to the offering throughout the day. We can recommend that place.

We stayed there quite regurlaly for skiing in the last years (2 Patents , 3 kids, 2 grandparetns) Excellent Service, excellent food, very nice and spacious spa. I like esp. the two pool areas, both with connected In/Outdoor Pools. A very modern one esp. for adults (quiet Zone) and the other one with all the kids, so be prepared for some serious water splashing and noise. Spa (Sauna, Massage, etc.) is also very nice according to my Wife and my father in law (I am with the kids in the fun pool). Very nice area for little kids with a young multilingual Woman taking care. Also the teenager facilities are ok.
Outstanding is the food, this brilliant south tyrolean mixture of alps, italian and mediteranean cooking styles. Service is mostly great.
What Else? There is a shuttle to the Ski area of Speikboden, which is a small one, but enough for my kids until now (12 yrs.). Next larger area is Kronplatz, but this is a 45 min Drive.
All in all a Great Place with Great People, we booked the rooms for Feb 2021 already, let‘s hope that Corona won‘t destroy it.

We have spent marvellous holidays at Schwartzenstein. All the team was so kind and helpful, the dinners were also a pure moment of serenity: the choice, quality and taste of each dishes were perfect. The wellness area with all the saunas and different hammans is also very clean. Our stay was really perfect. In addition, the hotel is well located: near ski resort, good place for hiking, mountain biking. Our last wish: to come back again

The hotel had excellent and friendly service at all times. The food was delicious and of high quality, there was a large variety of food options available at the breakfast and lunch buffet. The rooms are very comfortable with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The spa area and amenities were fantastic.

Very nice design, wellness and outdoor area. Great food with excellent service. A shuttle brings you to the skiing area. The bar and lounge area is really nicely designed and the many pools are great so everyone feels they have enough room to relax.

Amazing high quality and delicious food, wide choice at buffet (breakfast, salad, desert).

Very pleasant and spacious pools (warm outdoors) with all the amenities you would expect at a wellness resort.

Beautiful view, comfortable rooms, the hotel is nicely decorated throughout.

This was our 5th time at Hotel Schwarzenstein and we still are more than 100% happy with this place... I mean everything has already been said about this place, just to sum it up - top staff, more than friendly and welcoming owners, great rooms and suites (if you are willing to spend more, take one of the rooms in the newer building), a one-of-a-kind sauna and wellness area, top treatments in the spa (the Cleopatra bath is a bliss) and last, but definitely not least, the excellent food – the ample breakfast, snacks, salad bar and cakes in the afternoon or dinner, you just cannot beat the variety, freshness and diversity of the food. For those with children I can only recommend this place. They have a great big playroom, everyday we practically had to drag our 3-year-old son from there. It is a very kid-friendly place, but also great getaway for romantic weekends. We were there with and without our kids and enjoyed both very much. CU soon Schwarzenstein!

I've been coming to this valley since the beginning of the seventies and in time it has preserved its calm, beauty and charm even though being close to a pretty big town like Bruneck.

it is my third year in a row that I spend two weeks at the Schwartzenstein Hotel. The place is a haven for people seeking quiet and peace, who love hiking but also bathing in the beautiful pool (inside and outside are connected thru a sliding door)) or getting a massage or a sauna.

The hotel is family run: it provides excellent service with a personal touch which usually lacks in anonymous chain hotels. Rooms are very clean, provided with all the amenities, bath robes included, plus a nice basket for the pool area with towels and slippers - The rooms are spacious, with terraces full of flowers (the most beautiful are the ones facing South).

Common areas in the hotel are spacious and elegantly furnished with a nice bar open all day. There is a beautiful terrace overlooking the pool and the mountains where you can have lunch.

They offer, as it is often the case in this area, 3/4 board which means a buffet breakfast, a buffet lunch and a four course dinner (choice of food) usually very good and varied. They have a dinner gala and local music once a week. People are really nice, helpful and provide group gymn, hiking tours, MT trails and Nordic walking during the week at no extra fee.

An additional bonus is the Internet point (three computers) plus all the sitting area is connected wi-fi and everything is free!

The atmosfere and dress code are relaxed although wearing bath robes is not accepted for lunch. All in all a great place to unwind, great for family with kids and couples alike: while girls take care of themselves in the Wellness area, boys can go hiking or MB and everybody is happy!!

A great experience I'll come back next year as well, really worth every cent you pay!

This is a truly astounding hotel, which has recently undergone a major overhaul. Set in stunning surroundings - which combine a picturesque village and stunning geography -- the Schwarzenstein offers a host of amenities (spas, multiple saunas, pools) and outdoor activities which combine both quality and extraordinary value. Despite its relatively large size, the hotel feels anything but anonymous, in part largely to the extraordinary warmth of the staff, for whom little is too much trouble. We stayed in two rooms (one family room with two children + 1 room for my elderly mother), for a cost of around €3,000 for five nights, including lunches, dinners, wine and various accompanied activities such as hiking and archery. It is difficult to find a place that can meet the requirements of three generations of one family, but this one did.
Little was too much trouble for the staff: my elderly mother asked for a new room on arrival (she was first placed in a room in the original hotel building, which is quite a walk away from the main hotel areas) and was upgraded the next day to a double room immediately above reception and with a stunning view, and our endless queries at reception were always promptly and helpfully answered.
This part of the world seems fairly off the beaten track to most English speakers in the summer, with most of the guests being German or Italian, many of whom seem to be return visitors. The Brits are missing a trick.
