This Inn is actually a motel type setting. It is situated on the banks of the St. Lawrence Seaway just outside of Prescott on Hwy 2. The grounds are beautiful and the view of the seaway is lovely. There is a small beach area and BBQ areas. The owners are very careful about COVID and as such, we found our name on a placard in the courtyard which directed us to our room. The door to our room (accessible only off the courtyard) was open and our key was inside. To us, this all seemed very reasonable and dutiful. The room was small, bur very comfortable with an overhead fan as well as a small fireplace. The room was dated - all wood walls and tile floor but clean. We were impressed and pleased. In the morning, the owner offered clients breakfast served as follows: 1/ wear a mask; 2/ proceed to the breakfast room but pick up a tray outside first; 3/ warm and cold breakfast foods were served buffet style and then clients returned with their tray to their room to consume their choices of food; 4/ return the tray to a station outside the breakfast room. It was easy to understand this procedure under the circumstances. We had paid for our room in advance so I'm not sure about other check-out procedures. We left the key in our room. We would definitely stay at this motel/inn again - perhaps, if there was no COVID threat, the procedures would be easier and dining in the breakfast room would be permitted.…
Just returned from 2 nights in a cottage. The cottage was clean, bed was extremely hard. The views remain beautiful, relaxing by the water. What is lacking is the customer relations, communication poor right from time of booking, mistakes were made for our friends that we travelled with as it is apparent several people answer the phone and do not communicate with each other. They still use covid for lack of services. The breakfast room was open with instructions to take a tray for food and bring it back. The food was cold, eggs, sausage, soggy hash brown potatoes, frozen butter to put on cold toast, by time you transport it to your room whatever could have been luke warm was not anymore. The coffee was hot and tasty. If covid was such a concern for them, then why are you allowed to serve yourself, touching all the tongs and spoons with out gloves. It appears covid is now a convenient excuse. The muffins were the same as always except now HALF the size they used to be.…
We've alawys stayed at Dewar's atleast twice yr but when I called they have still not opened their cafe for their eat in breakfast. During covid a brown bag breakfast was ok but not acceptable now. I was told by person on phone things have changed so I didn't book fir 2 cabins.
We stayed at dewer’s inn Aug 12-16. It seemed like covid was used as an excuse to offer less customer service for the same price. The breakfast room was not open, instead a brown bag was put into the fridge. The air conditioner didn’t work the first night and was very noisy when it did. The bed was hard and small for 2 people. Too much furniture jammed into the small room, made it difficult to walk to the bathroom In the night. The pillows were horrible, needed to be thrown in the garbage. Our room was not serviced the 4 nights we stayed there. Not even garbages emptied or toilet paper/coffee & water replenished. We ran out of toilet paper the last day. I tried calling the front desk and left a voice mail, never did get a response. We had to Borrow toilet paper from another guest. We stayed there 4 nights We were surprised the workers couldn’t at least empty our over flowing garbages and make sure there was necessities when they came in to bring the brown bag. There doesn’t seem to be any employees on site so we were own our own when we returned to the hotel from sight seeing to try to call for service. We would not stay at this property again. We stayed at a sandman hotel the rest of our vacation and had a way better experience.…
We returned for a wonderful two weeks at Dewar's and as always, it was a great experience. Frank and Judy do everything they can to make your stay a memorable experience. The views are unbeatable and both the cabins and the larger motel rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. Everything is very clean and the gardens are very well kept. Parking is ample and it is always a joy to watch the ships sailing by, We would highly recommend Dewar's to any travelers.
Because of flight delays we knew we would be late. I called first thing in the morning before we left British Columbia and explained the situation. I was told, no problem your in unit #8 and I will leave the door unlocked and the key on the table. We arrived after midnight and things were as planned. What a beautiful place right on the St Lawrence river. Very clean and well looked after. We will return.
A beautiful clean cottage we stayed in cottage 14. A comfy cozy cottage where we felt right at home.Hard to beat the view of the St. Lawerence wonderful gardens filled with birds and beautiful flowers. I would go back every season if I could. Easy to find and very convenient to all amenities.
First let me say that Dewar's Covid Policy goes above and beyond what is required. At no time during our stay did we feel that our health and/or safety was compromised. We booked 3 nights from Dec. 30 /21 to Jan.2/22 to get away and "hunker" down in the peace and quiet that Dewar's is noted for. Our cottage was extremely clean and there have been upgrades to the property since our last visit (same cottage for the same reason). Although the bright and cheery Breakfast Room was closed our "brown bag breakfast" was brought to our door daily for the following day. For our first morning it was already in the fridge when we got there, ready to prepare in the morning. Different foods every day. Due to the weather forecast predicting heavy snow etc. we were fortunate to be able to keep our cottage for an extra night as we didn't want to take a chance driving on the 401 with bad weather. Very friendly and congenial hosts (and Staff) who go out of their way to make sure your visit is complete. Maybe we'll try in Summer for a few days and sit out viewing the gardens and ships as we "do nothing" again !!…
This is a wonderful establishment. We rented the Mariner Cottage for 3 nights. It was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. We had a terrific view of the St Lawrence River and could watch the birds and "Laker" freighters as they passed while we had our morning coffee on our deck. The cottage is very well equipped and the staff are extremely responsive and friendly. The grounds are beautifully kept with pleasant gardens and a terrific boardwalk with deck chairs to relax in the shade on. The owners and staff of Dewar's clearly take great care and pride. We loved our stay here!
Great week away at Dewar's Inn. Adult only (kids over age of 12 allowed), no pets. Beautiful and relaxing getaway by the St. Lawrence River. The cottage was extremely clean. There are also rooms with ammenities they rent as well. No issues with social distancing with COVID. The boardwalk is a great place to walk along to see the boats on the water. There is even an area where you can get married there now. I highly recommend this place. The staff is very welcoming and social distancing was respected.
