The most beautiful authentic log cabins with all the modern amenities!!! The best thing is the lovely indoor log fire which warms the cabin up to the temperature you want. It is cosy and beautiful!!! The communal braaipit overlooking the spectacular view is mind blowingly special. Being in nature in such a remote place, makes you utterly aware of the awesome creation and our wonderful God. The guests, Gary and Julia, will do anything in their power to make your stay as unique as possible. Indescribable beauty in lakes, trails and wildlife. definitely coming back.

We have been going to the Rocky Mountain Escape (RME) for over 20 years. Without a doubt, it is one of our favourite places in the Rockies. I would highly recommend that anyone who wants to really experience the mountains in their true form to consider a trip here. It's so different from how busy Banff and Jasper can be (especially in the summer), along with popular tourist spots like the Icefields Parkway, Moraine Lake, Maligne Lake, etc. At RME there are many places that you can go that you likely won't see anyone else. The owners can suggest some of these places to you, or you can just go exploring on your own. There is are many hiking trails, Rock Lake is great for canoeing and kayaking, or you can just hang around your cabin and enjoy the peace and solitude.

The cabins themselves are really beautiful and a wonderful place to stay. I am always happy when one of our stays include a rainy night or two. There's nothing like being in the cabin with fire going and the sound of rain on the tin roof. There is a nice bbq on the deck for cooking and the cabins have a small fridge as well.

It's just a short drive from the eastern Jasper park gate to RME. It does include a gravel road of about 25 kms or so but the road is usually in great condition and a fun part of the journey.

Thank you so much for your comments. It's always great to see the Taylor's!! Our hidden gem, off the beaten path is perfect to unwind away from the touristy destinations. Rock Lake a short 15 min drive away is not to be missed. Getting here is part of the adventure, agreed a wonderful not too remote, off-grid, wilderness experience. Can't wait to welcome you back again 😊. All the Best, Julia and Gary!!

If you are thinking about booking a cabin don’t hesitate if you enjoy peace and quiet in the Alberta wilderness.
Our stay was so relaxing; the hosts, Julia and Gary were so welcoming and helpful.
The cabin was immaculately clean and had everything you could need, comfortable bed, hot shower, complimentary coffee and the white robes were a lovely touch.
The cabin is situated close to a wonderful creek and there are numerous trails starting straight from your door.
There is a superb lake nearby with amazing views and more trails which is also quiet and peaceful.
The cabins are dog friendly, Reba had complimentary treats waiting for her… it was doggie heaven.
We will definitely be visiting again soon… we can’t wait!

Our stay at the Rocky Mountain Escape Log Cabins was a highlight of our trip to Canada. We loved the cabin and being in the mountains, hiking, relaxing or sitting by the fireplace. We were there for four nights in September and would have loved to stay longer. Great time of the year for our hikes and to get cozy by the fireplace in the evening. We would also love to experience winter there!

Julia and Gary are exceptional hosts, very hospitable, nice to chat with and fun to be around. Cabins well equipped, nothing was missing. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. It was outstanding and just perfect to unwind!

Horses and employees were amazing. Be aware of other outfitters in area. Jon and Cindy are 100% legit and professional. Don't take chances on your trip of a lifetime. Book with them and sit back; let the adventure happen. Lazy Vu will make your dreams come true.

This is a Dimond in the woods. I cannot tell you how tranquil this trip was, no sounds other than nature. Once you've been here you won't want to leave. Gary and Julia were so accommodating and friendly. Gary brought over a game for our granddaughter to play with and she just loved it. I am already looking forward to our next trip. I'll never want to stay in a hotel again when going up to Jasper area. I highly (and that's not even doing this justice, but it's the best word I can use) recommend this escape. I wish I was there vice being back home. I miss the quiet~

Off the beaten track. All you can eat back country hiking. Mt. Robson is only 5 days West on foot. Dirt road. No mains electricity. No internet. Magnificently cranky proprietress who prefers bears to people. Go back to the main road, turn left, and there is nothing between you and the Yukon.

We arrived Friday afternoon at the resort and were greeted not only by Leo and Molly but also a warm cabin with the fire already started and waiting for us. After unpacking we headed for supper where we got aquatinted with 2 other great couples and were served an incredible supper of roast beef with mashed potatoes and baked vegetables, all cooked in a wood stove and served with pretty much any kind of wine you choose. And I can't forget about dessert, it was my birthday and my wife had told Laura that ahead I time and she was sure to make my favourite dessert plus had others for everyone to choose from, talk about going the extra mile !!
After relaxing for the rest of the night in the toasty warm cabin we got a good night sleep and headed for breakfast in the morning, I will say you will be spoiled staying at this place, fruit, bacon, eggs cooked however you wish, toast also any kind you choose, it's really amazing how accommodating things are here.
After breakfast we headed up the mountain via snowshoes (provided) and led by a very eager and helpful Molly. Also it should be mentioned that Laura provides sandwiches, trail mix, snack bars and juice for dinner on the trail or whatever you plan to do during the day. After returning from the mountain climb and a brief rest at the cabin we ventured out on a 7km x-country ski, once again ski's, boots and poles provided and Laura and her son Chris even waxed the ski's for us. This trip was led by Leo.
We returned just in time for supper, wine and conversation, this time we were treated to a delicious shrimp and chicken stir fry and incredible dessert.
After breakfast Sunday morning we all headed out and get this, Laura again had prepared sandwiches and trail mix with goodies and drinks for the drive home, talk about going above and beyond, that is truly service you will not find any place else.
This was personally my first time here and I will be returning, it was the second time for my wife and she is already anxious to go back.
We can assure you that this place provides the best "getaway" experience you can hope for, secluded, quiet, clean, amazing service. I would say you will pay twice as much at most "getaways", for half the hospitality.
Did I mention that fresh spring water is provided in each cabin? Amazing.

After spending time in Jasper National Park we drove to Rocky Mountain Escape for a real wilderness experience - and that's what we got. Laura's property is in the foothills and has a panoramic view of small mountains and a creek at the bottom of the hill. There isn't anyone else in sight except for the guests in the 3 gorgeous log cabins, her lovely volunteer, and 3 cheery dogs. The breakfast is hearty with fresh fruit, muffins from the oven and eggs to order. We got sandwiches packed to go for lunch with lots of sweets. The dinners are good, but caloric -- with home-baked pies at every meal. Best of all, she took us on hikes in the mountains, and shared her extensive knowledge about wildflowers, animals, including bear poop and tracks. She has lots of great stories about run in with bears and misguided canoe trips. The hikes were tailored to our interest and experience. One down side is that the well water is sulphuric and smelly. However she provides lots of fresh spring water in each cabin. She runs a small generator in the evening and morning which is noisy. Overall we had a great time, and found it inspiring to see what one woman is able to accomplish on her own.

The weird thing about walking in the Rocky Mountains at 30 below freezing is that it seems not as cold as walking in London in 3 over. I’m told it’s the dry mountain air. We saw elk, ravens, woodpeckers, and colourful Pine Grossbills, heard owls, and went for long beautiful walks in both boots and snowshoes. Breakfasts were hearty and sustaining, but if you didn’t want to walk them off in the woods, the cabin was warm and comfortable, and you could sit and read and look out of the large clear windows at the mountains and the birds on the feeder. Whichever you did, you were ready by the end of the day for Laura Rutter’s very toothsome suppers and grand conversation.

Rocky Mountain Escape is located in a wilderness area in the Alberta Rocky Mountains (Canada), and are a bit of a hike from Disney in Florida or California. There is no convenient shuttle/bus service between Disney and the 'Escape cabins.
