I have waited to write this review as I was somewhat concerned that my enthusiasm and admiration for the staff and location was simply a result of vacation high. Therefore I waited for a few weeks and guess what - I am still as enthusiastic as I was when we sadly left after our 4 day stay.

Allow me to start with why Rock Lake. We wanted an intimate nature focused experience but did not want to sacrifice comfort to get it. Rock Lake married the best of both a truly spectacular natural experience and awesome rooms and amenities.

When we first arrived we were tired but ended up stayitng up until 1 am around a roaring bomb fire chatting with the other guests and staff around the fire. I felt great knowing that this was no different from my many camping trips but that at the end of the evening I would warm and comfortable in my awesome bed.

However the highlight was the food. I have had the benefit of travelling widely for both business and pleasure and I say with confidence that the chef at Rock Lake is world class. Simple focused flavours that and exist in perfect harmony on the plate. Too often chefs overthink but this gentleman was a master of putting dishes together that naturally complimented each other. There was one lunch that was a lettuce wrap ;which frankly ranks as one of my top three meals of all time. Of course it did not hurt that we were in a majestic setting with tremendous views ( elk practically joining us for lunch) and some very good wine but it was the food that won the day.

My wife and I thank everyone at Rock Lake for a fabulous experience and we look forward to returning in the future.

My husband and I stumbled across this place by accident and it's a diamond in the rough.
The two guys that run this place are absolutely phenomenal. From the moment we walked in they treated us like family. We were traveling with our 1 year old son and they were happy to fully accommodate our needs.
The chef creates a different menu daily and the food was delicious! (Seriously DELICIOUS!)
The lodge is decorated really cute and it's very clean.
The wilderness that surrounds the lodge and cabins, from the creeks and the lakes to the hiking trails and walking paths made for a perfect relaxing weekend.
Highly recommend!
We are already planning our next trip back!

What a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. It's such a shame to see these negative reviews, if you had taken a few moments to research the lodge and it's location then you would clearly see that it is remote. But that's what makes this place so good. Kevan and Maz do an excellent job at running the place between them. The surroundings are beautiful and the cabins are very cosy, with a log burning fire and rustic furniture. You can even see the wildlife from your bedroom window! Each night Maz cooks up a different dish, we ate there every night and the food was always excellent. We also managed to rack up quite a tab as we enjoyed drinking in the main lodge, where they provide games and a comfortable atmosphere. The guys made us feel right at home, Kevan even took us out on the lake for some fishing. If you are looking for a secluded retreat then look no further, this place is very special and I'll definitely come back.

Booked a fishing holiday, 3 days fishing with 3 people, 8hours a day fully guided.
First day no fishing, second day 5 hours guided fishing, last day 5 hours guided fishing.
So only 10 hours guided fishing instead of 24 hours but I still had to pay for 16 hours.
When I showed the staff the mail of the booking they did not even knew the people I delt with. There was simply no fishing guide at the lodge so the manager had to play for guide. We came all the way from Belgium to fish. We believed what they advertised on there website, but it was a big lie.
The lodge itself is verry good, good food and good service. But the fishing was bad.

This place is horrid! False advertising, the picture posted is of. Lake Moraine not even near here, no choice in food , not accommodating, we left and couldn't get reimbursed for anything in fact they charged us more on our credit card. It is a total mess and wouldn't waste your time or money here💩

When I initially booked this lodge, I was under the belief that it was close to Jasper. The reality is, it's close to nothing ! The lodge is situated 32 km down a dirt road used for logging and exploration for mining . Rock lake it self is not visible from the lodge. While the lodge is cozy, there's really nothing there to do. The "free bicycles "were broken. The lake was within walking distance, but it didn't appear to have an area for swimming. The food was good. The nearest town to get gas is Hinton, it's at least 60 km away.

to reach, follow the a40 north for 40 km and then wait for the sign rock lake. then turn left and drive on a gravel road for 30km!
around the lake no possibilities to eat, there is nothibg except some campgrounds.
so u must eat on place, fortunately, the cook is very good and the team there very nice.
in your cabin there is an oven and they will start fire for you.
there is also a micro wave and dishes, but nothing to cook really for Europeans..
the place is in the middle of nowhere, you are in nature, surrounded by vast forests. in the evening and morning elks come close to the cabins.
hotel offers activities but they are, as everywhere in Canada, very expensive.
to reach Japser from there u need around 2h30...u must also have enough fuel in your car.
wifi works in the lobby but rather slow...u are in the middle of nowhere so u can t expect more.
it was a very nice experience for us.

Stayed here over the weekend for one night. Somethings to note..Arrived at 6pm to a cold cabin, even though we informed them we had a 6 month old infant when we phoned in the morning. Also due to hunting season, dinner was served at 10pm with the impression that we were not invited to that. However the cabin we stayed in was very quaint and peaceful. The main lodge was gorgeous and the chef was the highlight of our trips to the main lodge. The best part besides the views was falling asleep listening to the elk in the field next to our cabin!

I went for a drive out to Rock Lake north of Hinton to do some site seeing and take some pictures. I stopped at the Rock Lake Lodge for lunch. The service was great and the soup and sandwich I had for lunch was probably the best I have ever had. It is worth the drive to go out there.

This place is set on the edge of Jasper National Park. There are trail heads which go in if that is your desire. Walk till you drop. We stayed in the lodge (there are also cabins) which has a great restaurant and fast Wifi. We thought the food was excellent and the cook was very will to make something to suit us if we didn't want the daily specials. Lots of elk and deer around the place and (though we did not partake) great fishing on the lake; they can arrange a power boat The staff are very helpful and loaned us the bear spray for our hikes (didn't see any but just to be safe...)
We saw signs of moose but didn't encounter any. Warm fireplace, clean and comfortable. We would have liked to have a kayak or canoe to rent. They told us they were acquiring some so maybe next time.
This is REALLY out of the way for when you REALLY need it.
