4 of us booked a table for an impromptu mid week meal. Initial service ok, soup, whitebait and prawns for starters, ok but nothing to write home about. 45 mins to then get main meals. Awful! We had mac cheese (no cheese) very bland. Ham, egg and chips (such bland tasteless chips) steak, chips and mushrooms (same problem with chips,...

The staff here are friendly & welcoming, the room was okay, nothing to write home about & probably overpriced, I feel a fair price would be £50.00. I had food in the pub & was pleasantly surprised to see a good range of beer available, unfortunately the Timothy Taylor wasn't available but the Bombardier beer was a lovely pint! I...

I've been a few times with different mates in the last three years. I live not too far from here but every time I go here I always feel like I've transported somewhere completely different. The building itself provides a homely feel to your visit and the landlady is a carefree individual; interacts with every single guest she gets through...

The staff here are really helpful and friendly. Being a family run pub, you get a lovely atmosphere. Lovely location - its nice to go somewhere different. 5 minutes outside Swindon. Great high quality food, menu frequently changes and updates. Dogs are welcome too which is a bonus! Would highly recommend

Warm welcome from landlady to old-style pub. Roaring open fire gives atmosphere. Reasonable menu for Sunday lunch. Vegetables delivered in separate dishes so good for fussy eaters. Staff receptive to request for additional vegetables. Good sized portions. Gluten-free no problem.

Stayed the night. Received a warm welcome, but on going to the room I was really disappointed. The toilet had poo marks around the bowl, the sink in the bathroom was dusty, the valance sheet had black and brown scuffs on the bottom and the floor was really dirty - covered in dust, grit from outside and cobwebs on the...

The meal was good and the setting and service were excellent, but the food could have been hotter. Despite my comments, I would go back and certainly wouldn't put me off! The meals were classic pub food well presented by a caring and conscientious hostess.

My daughter and I stayed here in the B&B, and also had dinner with family and friends. It's a lovely ancient thatched-roof building, with a cozy fire in the bar and delicious food. Breakfast for us consisted of a "Full English" and eggs Benedict, and the hollandaise was made by hand--no packaged mixes here! The dinner specials are superb, as...

We had a lovely meal today, again with excellent service from the hard working staff, with a warm welcome for a lucky pet. This place is a real treat the beef roast was tender with plenty of vegetables to go around. We will defintely call again and early booking is advised as it is deservidly busy. Keep up the good...

How a pub in the country should be. Thatched roof, Roaring big open fire and the bar area is dog friendly. Always a good selection of ales that are kept to the highest standards. We had food and there were no complaints at all the dishes were homemade well presented and very tasty. The landlady is always pleasant and we...
