This is a repeat visit to Crystal Paradise Resort. Like last year, we stayed for 4 nights and booked three birding trips (2 full-day and 1 half-day birding trips) through Paradise Expeditions – Birding in Belize services.
We requested 3 air-conditioned rooms: #18, #14 and...More
Stayed at Crystal Palace for one night in April while visiting Belize and Tikal. The cabanas are darling, and very clean. Set in a birders paradise, it's conveniently located just a drive from Barton Creek Cave and a perfect spot to just sit and watch...More
I had a great time staying at Crystal Paradise. The staff treat you like family all the way down to the home style meals. The guides are all wonderful and very knowledgeable about all that they show you. I went to the ATM cave, the...More
The facilities and grounds are AMAZING. Thousands of flowers and birds and clean/well managed facilities. However I was traveling alone, and I would not recommend this place for a solo traveler. I went on a bunch of tours, which CR did arrange for me, but...More

Hi, It's a few minute walk down to the river. So quite easy. There is a path through the jungle. They don't really have a beach area. There is some sand but that is dependent on where the river height is and it can be quite warm and buggy down on the river without any breeze. They have a 1/2 day canoe tour that they will take you up the river and let you float down. We were going to do that but had some scheduling changes that caused us to run out of time.

There isn't really a shuttle, but transportation can be included in the packages. I disagree with last review! Packages are an excellent deal and the food was great, especially the breakfasts. The people who run this place are friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. Tour guides - often members of the family- were also great. I loved that your guide stayed with you for all the tours, and they they were adapted to us, not a group. (But skip the tubing- very touristy.
