We arrived mid-afternoon to be greeted by Jose who took us to the bar and while filling in the paperwork we enjoyed a welcome cocktail. The hotel sits on the Mopan river and all rooms have a 180 degree view. We opened the door to our room to find “Welcome to MH” in flower petals on the bed - what a lovely surprise. Similarly at dinner, Jose writes messages in petals on the tables. While dinner was one of two options, we were never disappointed. We could have taken a $10 taxi into St Ignacio, but we enjoyed the food so much - including seeing kinkajous in the trees at night, we could not get motivated to leave and night after night we saw the same guests so we were not alone. Marsha is the manager and runs the place with complete calm efficiency, including organizing our trips with Edwin’s Belize Adventures (see related review). We were thankful the MH survived COVID and while it is fair to say that some of the furniture could be updated, Jose, Marsha and the other staff were the stars.

We were very well taken care of at Mahogany Hall. It is a small hotel, with maybe seven rooms, so careful attention is paid to every guest. I received several messages before arriving from the concierge in order to plan any excursions we might be interested in. We did indeed: a trip to Tikal planned and paid for before we even landed; so easy! We loved our breakfast and coffee made to order every morning. The other guests were very friendly and shared some stories of their own travels in the beautiful country of Belize. The food was delicious, the drinks well made and the beds and pillows were comfortable. We most definitely recommend this property and if we return to this area again, we will stay here.

We loved our stay at Mahogany Halls. The landscape and the river are prettier in person than in the pictures. The sound of the rushing river is so relaxing. The service is fantastic. It is calm and peaceful and a great place to retreat to after a full day of adventure. Our room was kept very clean every morning after we left for the day. We ate dinner there one night and it was good. The only negative things I found was that it was expensive to eat and drink there and the rooms do not have refrigerators. We had no way to keep drinks or food cold while we were there. But that doesn't really take away from how wonderful the place is. I highly recommend it.

Excellent welcome and service. The waiter came to greet us at the entrance of the hotel. Impeccable dinner service. Good meal for dinner but you have to choose your dish in advance (between 2 choices). No starter or dessert available however. The view of the river is magnificent. Access to the swimming pool very pleasant. The rooms are clean but no mini fridge (we had room 2) There are flowers and all the towels without exception are transformed into animals (crab bath mat, wow). The locals have the right to swim in front of the hotel which allowed us to meet some of them, they are very kind. The place is very quiet.

My husband and I loved the place and had dinner every night during our stay. The location is remote and you will need a taxi every time to go to the city (12 minutes away) $20 belizian. Pool is cold and refreshing and service is great. Very romantic spot. The room has a strong wood smell.
Would come back.

Mahogany Hall is a small facility with only eight rooms. Because of the small size, the staff is able to give personal attention to every guest. We talked to Marsha, Jose, and Amelie every day. We knew each other by name and over the week we were there, they learned our preferences. This would never happen at a mega resort.
When we were first planning this vacation, we considered staying in Belize City and then booking tours from there. When learned of San Ignacio, we decided it would be a better "home base" for our vacation. This was an excellent decision.
While we thought of this location as San Ignacio, Mahogany Hall is actually a couple miles away in the small village of Bullet Tree Falls. We found the village charming and the residents to be very friendly. One day, we walked over to a nearby football pitch and watched the kids practice their skills. Initially, the kids did not know what to make of these two strangers watching their practice but they quickly got used to us and they too were very friendly.
To help simplify our trip, Marsha (Mahogany Hall manager) booked all of our tours for us through Edwin's Belize Tours. Most of the tours were private tours and fully customizable. The ATM tour cannot be a private tour due to government restrictions. We were okay with that because we like to meet new people.
We had breakfast and dinner at Mahogany Hall every day. We loved their food. There are also good options in San Ignacio which is a short taxi ride away.
I would highly recommend Mahogany Hall to anyone traveling to Belize. The staff is fantastic and there are plenty of activities to keep you busy. If you prefer to relax, the sound of the river is addicting.

Our family of 3 stayed at Mahogany Hall for almost one month in July 2021. The location on the Mopan river is phenomenal. The hotel itself is wonderful. From the huge wooden door at the entrance to the hotel to our oversized room so nicely furnished with an incredibly comfortable bed, it offered us everything to keep us comfortable and safe during our stay. The housekeeping service was outstanding. We were able to get to know the owner Richard, Marsha, and Jose. It's easy to get to San Ignacio from Bullet Tree via multiple available taxis (there is a dedicated taxi service that goes back and forth between the two towns) and we were also able to explore quite a bit of Bullet Tree Falls itself walking along Paslow Falls Road and Bullet Tree Road. My entire family loves Mahogany Hall Resort and I highly recommend it. We will return.

This hotel was in a beautiful location next to a river which I expected to be smaller, so I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were extremely sweet and helpful , the food at the restaurant was excellent- extremely happy with every meal I had. The rooms were spacious and very pretty.

We had such a lovely time during our stay here. The room we booked had a broken AC but they were very accommodating and gave us the choice to stay there or switch to a similar room with the AC functioning. We chose the latter and it was great, with gorgeous views of the river. Not really a fan of the VERY thorough turn down service. They were putting things away in places that were difficult for us to find after. On that note, the service and attentiveness of the staff were out of this world. Keith gave us some great local pointers and Marsha and Veronica helped us book some wonderful excursions with local tour guides. If you want to get the real flavor of San Ignacio you definitely want to stay at Mahogany Hall.

We had an excellent time here. It's beautiful, relaxing and right on the river that you can swim in. Bring water shoes. Jose was very attentive and made excellent drinks. He made us feel right at home, as did the rest of the staff. It is a little bit out of the way from San Ignacio, but we preferred that as it made for a more relaxed, quiet forest vibe. It was easy enough to get into town and the tours were willing to pick us up directly for a small fee. Coming back from a long day tour we were able to have a nice meal and a relaxing swim in the river. Room was clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.

It is not a terrible neighborhood. It is in the middle of a street that is mostly residential. But that is part of the charm. Its not located on some hotels only block - it’s mixed in with real houses. It’s not a busy street by any means and you’re close enough to downtown for a quick taxi ride (which is the only time you remember there are other houses around you.)
No fridge. Suites have jacuzzis. No private pool. Yes you hear the amazing wildlife all around including the river. No spa. Very quiet. You won’t have very many people there! We seen a couple other couples but they only stayed couple nights! Staff is amazing and do their best to accommodate you in every way!
