I loved my stay at T.R.E.E.S.! It's a wonderful place to be immersed in nature, learn about organic farming/permaculture and the animals and plants that inhabit Belize. We stayed in La Casita, which had privacy and a beautiful view, but was still just a short walk to the yoga platform and main areas. We felt safe here in the days of Covid. It was very easy to spread out and go hiking without even crossing paths with anyone, including at the swimming hole. On the few occasions when there were several people in one place, we all had masks ready. Most of our days were spent outdoors breathing in fresh air with plenty of room to roam. Irma prepared amazing food for us, and we got so much food inspiration that we are taking home with us! We loved all of the music and the west African style drum lesson from Emmeth. We also took day trips to each of the nearby parks (Bill Barquedier and Blue Hole/Crystal Cave). We appreciated the help from Vanessa to organize our outings! We also loved our hike with Will where we learned how the ancient Mayans lived and used the native plants to survive. It was great to have transportation offered by T.R.E.E.S. staff, but the location right off the highway makes it easy to use the bus as well. I would like to return for a research project in the future!…
T.R.E.E.S. is a wonderful place, and I was so grateful to stay there while in Belize! We stayed at La Casita, which was a cozy place to ourselves but only a short walk from everything else. Vanessa, Matt, and all of the staff were so welcoming that it felt like home in no time. The food was incredible - even with our picky vegan & gluten free preferences. Irma totally spoiled us in coming up with new and creative meals that were always delicious. There were so many learning opportunities at T.R.E.E.S. We were able to walk the property with Irma, and then Matt, and later Will, each time learning new things. We learned to prune trees in the orchard and became familiar with fruits we'd never heard of or seen. T.R.E.E.S. is also fun for being full of music, from the radio that plays in the main hall to the live music sometimes played in the platform (which also serves as a yoga studio!) We also had the opportunity to get a drum lesson from Emmeth, which I highly recommend. There are parks just 15 min in either direction of T.R.E.E.S. that are worth checking out, as well as really nice trails on the property. There were lots of birds on the property as well, from toucans that munched on papayas in the orchard to fluffy squirrel cuckoos that hopped around the trees behind our cabin. Traveling during Covid can be risky, but we felt totally safe at T.R.E.E.S. There is so much space that social distancing was almost always possible, and everyone had masks handy for the few occasions that required them. Vanessa helped us figure out safe transportation so that we didn't have to use the bus or expensive shuttles or taxis. Thank you so much to everyone at T.R.E.E.S. for a wonderful week! I absolutely hope to visit again sometime.…
I went to Belize for a school trip from March 11th to March 21st, 2020. The people are super friendly, especially Orlando! He's an amazing tour guide, you should definitely ask for him if you can. The rooms were very clean and much more spacious than I expected - be warned that the animals will wake you up very early if you are not a deep sleeper. The food was always amazing and they are super accommodating with it. I 100% recommend T.R.E.E.S if you are looking to stay in Belize and be well taken care of.
I went to trees in a student trip and I had an unforgettable experience. The place is beyond beautiful and super photogenic. The hamac room was so relaxing. I practiced yoga there a couple of times and found it very peaceful. The activities were so interesting and the staff was so knowledgeable. The place was also VERY clean. The people at TREES clearly take care of cleaning thoroughly. The amazing staff was a very important part of my enjoyment at TREES. Orlando was full of interesting stories and gave us a different angle to the life of Belizeans. He was an amazing guide who explains things so well and adds a bit of his personality and life experience to everything he talks about. Will had so much knowledge. Our 3-hour walk with him was filled with stories and lessons about plants and animals beyond our imagination. He is a great storyteller and very funny. The rest of the staff was very helpful as well. TREES is full of fun activities and even funnier people. 13/10 Would hit my head with a brick just to forget the trip and do it again :)…
Went to T.R.E.E.S with my hubby from Feb 19 to 28 and we felt in love with that place. What a time we got. We rented "La Casita" and it was perfect for us. Fantastic staff, great food and a lot of birds around. For a wildlife photographer specialized in birds, I was in heaven. Got lifers everyday. My goals were to see their 3 Toucans; Keel-billed Toucan, the Collared Aricari and the elusive Emerald Toucanet, the King Vulture and a cat sleeping in a tree. I didn't specified which one though. I reached all my goals and got more. Bonus with the King Vulture; he was giving a flight lesson to his young one really high in the sky. In the evening, we saw a Kinkajou beside our cabin in a tree. Got my cat but too dark for a picture. We visited the Maya Ruins, the Belize Zoo and the Cockscomb Wildlife Sanctuary and Jaguar Preserve with Orlando Mai, their new guide. He was amazing and he knows his stuff. If you want to have a real Jungle experience in Belize, make sure you stop at T.R.E.E.S, you won't be disappointed. There's something for everyone. If you are a birder, then you have to go there for sure. You never know what you will find. I highly recommend this place. We will be back, there's a lot more we didn't see. …
