Hillcrest is a large, detached property built, I would guess in the 20's or 30's so stylish without being fussy. It has magnificent views, particularly from the back. We stayed for just a night while visiting friends in Northampton and were in the Green Room. This is actually a mini-suite with its own bathroom and separate toilet, curtained off from the rest of the house. The place was spotless and the welcome from Brenda was warm, with Dave no less friendly when we met him the following morning. Breakfast was excellent with more than adequate provision for my wife's wheat intolerance. Overall, a great place run by great people.

We stayed for three nights in the Green Room at the Hillcrest. We were made very welcome from the start, with Brenda and Dave being attentive and thoughtful hosts. The room was very clean and comfortable, and had the added bonus of a large bathroom with bath. It was also well-equipped with a fridge for fresh milk. Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful, with fresh fruit, cereal and a cooked option too. The dining room looks out onto a peaceful garden, full of birds and also a visiting pheasant. It was a short walk from Hillcrest into the village of Earls Barton. There was a good local pub there, The Old Swan, busy so worth booking, that was friendly and served quality pub food. The Nene Way is nearby so there are lots of options for riverside and lake side walks. Many thanks to Brenda and Dave for welcoming us into their home.

From arriving at the hillcrest b&b we was greeted by Brenda and dave. Such a lovely couple. Brenda shown us to our room which was the pink room and a double bed and was very comfortable. We had a toilet and sink in our room and the shower was just next door which wasn't any problem what so ever. Brenda and dave thought of everything you could imagine. So if you forgot anything it was there in your room. Breakfast was lovely. All made fresh. You had cereals ,fruit, juice, yoghurts etc all set out in the dining room and could help yourself to all of it. The house is huge and was so clean and I would definitely stay here again without a doubt and will let family and friends know of our little gem the hillcrest. Its a lovely area aswel. Just want to say a massive thank you to Brenda and dave for everything. Love from the Ratcliffes 😊

My wife and I stayed one night at the Hillcrest whilst visiting my son and family in the nearby area.
It is a lovely house with two guest bedrooms. We stayed in the the Green Room which was light, airy and spacious. We had a King size bed and private toilet and bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the facilities excellent.
Breakfast the next morning gave you a choice of cereals, toast and a cooked breakfast consisting of bacon, egg, sausage, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes and hash browns with orange or grapefruit juice and tea or coffee. The breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day.
I'd like to thank Brenda and her husband for a lovely stay and if we're ever back that way again we will try and book the Hillcrest.

Yet another excellent stay at out favourite B&B. We always use this, when visiting in the area as the welcome is exceptional and the hosts Brenda and David are so friendly.
The rooms are comfortable and clean with everything you might need. It is the little extra touches that set it above what might be expected, I’ll let you find out what.
The house is situated in a rural setting overlooking countryside with a lovely garden both front and back. Safe parking on the drive adds to the experience.
The breakfast has all you would require and if you’re truly hungry that’s no bother either. The value for money is exceptional.

Stayed 2 nights in this wonderful B&B. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Welcoming, clean, comfortable and relaxed. Fantastic hosts and it was a privilege to be able to share their beautiful home. The view from our bedroom, the Pink Room, over the large garden into the distance was stunning! Breakfast was everything you needed it to be. My husband preferring the extensive cooked option whilst I had yoghurt, fruits, cereal, fresh juice, toast! I cannot recommend this little gem enough!

This is truly the very best B and B I’ve ever stayed in !
From the very warm welcome by Brenda upon arrival and every facility provided I couldn’t find fault and I’m hard to please in this respect. Clearly the owners Brenda and David have this down to a fine art. The property itself is in a nice village and quiet with wonderful gardens both front and back with lovely views across the fields. Free parking on a large drive. They have thought of everything, with wonderful little touches not seen in other places that I’ve stayed in.
The property itself is quintessentially English of the 1930’s era both outside and in. The breakfast is fantastic with all you could ever need and cooked to your requirements, with fruit, yoghurts and cereal. For a coffee snob like me I was very impressed with the cafetière of strong coffee to set me up for the day.
Will I ever go back ? You bet ! Will I pass this on to relatives, of course. Everything is a 5* experience but Brenda makes it a 6* !
Great value.
Now please don’t tell anyone as I don’t want to find them fully booked next time I want to go. 😉

Brenda gave us a warm and friendly greeting on arrival. The house is very classy and clean. Great views over stunning garden and fields beyond. Breakfast was very nice, lots of choices available including home made marmalade and perfectly poached eggs. Although it was on a main road it was surprisingly quite in one of the 2 back bedrooms, sharing a bathroom wasn't a problem as we never saw or heard the person in the next room, there was a toilet and wash basin in the room itself. We stayed here as it was half way to southampton on the day before our cruise. It was about 20 minutes from the M1 but well worth the time, the bed was amazing, sooo soft and comfortable, it was like sleeping on a marsh mellow, non of your premier inn rubbish hard and lumpy beds.

Hi Julie, Thank you so much for your very kind review. It was a pleasure to have you staying with us and we hope you had a wonderful holiday. Just to answer your query regarding the bathroom arrangements, both the bedrooms have their own bathrooms which are for the sole occupants of the bedroom, so nobody has to share. The bedroom next to yours is not a bed and breakfast room and I have now put a 'private' notice on the door so people will realise the bathroom is for their use only. So sorry for the confusion. Do hope we might see you again sometime in the future. With kind regards and thanks, Brenda

This was my second visit in a little over a year. First found Brenda and David in mid-2017 when I came over on short notice. The house is spotless, the breakfasts are complete, the beds are comfortable, and the rooms are a nice size. They are within easy walking distance of the village of Earls Barton and easy access to main roads. And one could not ask for more gracious and kind hosts. My only regret is that word may get out and I'll have a harder time getting a booking.

Hi Brenda, i wrote that it was a shared bathroom but i'm not sure it was, please could you clarify thank you.
Answer from Brenda A
Hi Julie, Thank you for your lovely review,. We do hope you enjoyed your cruise. In answer to your query, no actually both our rooms have their own bathrooms. The room next to yours is not a bed and breakfast room and I have now put a 'private' notice on the door so everyone will realise the bathroom is for the sole use of the occupants of the bedroom. It was no wonder you thought it was quiet , there is never anyone in there! Sorry for the confusion. We do hope we I'll see you again in the future. With kindest regards, Brenda.
