We were looking for something out of the ordinary for our mini vacation in the Kawartha Lakes area, and found it in this amazing B&B . The hosts/owners ( Audrey and 'Bogey' ) are super friendly and welcoming, and had many useful suggestions re places to visit in the area. I will try to post pictures of the beautiful home and surrounding gardens ... highly recommended !
This is a lovely B&B with a focus on nature and relaxation and connection. The hosts are lovely, gentle natured people. Be sure to have a blueberry muffin at breakfast! The house is ornate and a veritable treasure trove of eccentricities. The grounds are amazingly tended gardens with so many nooks to sit and enjoy, but be aware there is poison ivy. They allow dogs, which is always great.
Two adults and a yorkie made Shambhala their headquarters for three days and it felt like home for all three of them. Audrey and Bogie are perfect hosts and we recommend them highly. One thing was difficult: to get off the chair after breakfast! Delicious!
We are so pleased that we found and stayed at this B and B for three nights. We stayed in the queen suite which was lovely. Bed comfortable, room clean, nice outside area where you could sit almost bug free in the evenings, because if the mesh sides. The hosts here, Audrey and Bogey, are the nicest people you could ever meet and this is what really made our stay. They make an amazing feast for breakfast and sit down with you and the other guests, and have like a family breakfast. They have some lovely stories to tell and are just so helpful with ideas of things to do in the area. Whilst we were there we had some car issues and they were so kind and helpful to us as we did not have a working mobile phone. We would happily stay again and already miss the wonderful food (blueberry muffins, frittata, scrambled eggs, to babe a few) and the company. We felt that we made friends with these people and there lovely dogs. If you get a chance stay here!…
Our group of Ladies were served a variety of delicious sandwich’s ..fresh warm tea biscuit’s.. double chocolate cake & tea! Such a warm & friendly atmosphere... a special place to re-visit! Thank you🌻 lynda in Keene
Shambhala bed and breakfast is in a beautiful rural setting. The house is quirky and full of wonderful Asian artefacts. You could spend hours looking at them all. Audrey and Bogie were a delight to chat to over a very leisurely and delicious breakfast.
Had a wonderful afternoon enjoying our High Tea, conversation with hostess and friends. Felt like I was on a mini world tour viewing all the decor from around the globe. So much to enjoy both inside and out. Terrific weather to enjoy a walk around the ponds.
We stayed here for a sons wedding and the owner went above and beyond to fulfill our requirements. The rooms were clean and very interesting, a lot of collectibles on display. The breakfast served in the main dining area was awsome - both to the eye and stomach!!
My husband and I left the kids with family and went away for a two night break to Shambhala Bed and Breakfast! It really was as pretty and whimsical as all the pictures! The entire space inside and out has precious difficult to find Buddhist and other statues, dolls, masks, wall art, books! It is a feast for the eyes wherever you look! The bed was the most comfortable that I have ever slept on! The screened in porch was a welcome additional feature of our room as bugs can be a nuisance this time of year. The sound of bull frogs and birds was very soothing. The breakfast with the owners Audrey and Bogey Van Bogen was a real treat with a different egg dish daily and such perfect freshly baked muffins. Also fresh fruit, a beautifully laid table and such interesting conversation. I really felt like we were visiting a kind aunt and uncle, who cared about our welfare but did not interfere in our schedule or rest time. I think from now on I'd rather stay in a B&B anyplace new rather than an impersonal chain hotel if my budget and conveniece allows it. It is such a nicer way to explore a new place with a personal touch. The location is also conveniently close to Mariloo's ice cream shop selling the famous (well-deserved) Kawartha Lakes brand and the Petroglyphs Provincial Park. Much recommended! …
A bnb with a difference - a beautiful log home situated on 44 wooded acres outside of Buckhorn and filled with Oriental art works and furniture. Comfortable beds and a bountiful breakfast. Happily we found lots to do and see in the Buckhorn area even in November.
