Stayed in Poppi for one night in low season and it was, definitely, low season. The location was spot on if the restaurants hadn't been closed... We were recommended two restaurants by the hotel and both turned out to be closed. Not the hotels fault but annoying all the same. Breakfast was good. Wifi not working but that was because...

Good evening, thank you for your review! I am really sorry that both the restaurants were closed, I was not aware of it, or I would have suggested you otherwise! Luckly the problems with the WiFi were pomptly solved, I apologise again. I hope to see you again in high season, I promise you will get a far more positive...

My wife and I spent a week at this hotel/B&B in September 2015 and couldn't have been happier. We used it as a base to visit sites throughout Tuscany. Fortunately we had perfect weather so each day started with breakfast on the back patio, overlooking the Casentino Valley. One note on breakfast - when we were there the owner/cook had...

This is my 2nd visit to Poppi (alta) and accommodations in the upper castello town are few, but staying by the charming town transports you to another feeling the lower town misses. Albergo San Lorenzo, like the town itself, is very low-key and with 10 rooms it felt as though I was staying in someone's home. As other travelers have...

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights, our room was huge and we had an incredible view. There was free parking out the front and it was literally 50 steps and a very short walk to get to the castle. The girl at reception was great, very helpful we really needed to do Laundry and that's a service they...

We stayed here for a wedding and were running scarily late. When we arrived, thankfully we were checked in quickly, shown to our beautiful room and given directions to the wedding! We didn't really have time to appreciate the view from the window until the next day.... Breakfast was great and set us up for the day and the hotel...

Poppi is a charming and beautiful little town in Tuscany and the Albergo San Lorenzo is a wonderful place to enjoy the Tuscan landscape. It is located very near the main Poppi attraction, a beautiful castle where Dante wrote the Inferno. The views from the Albergo are fantastic and the grounds are gorgeous. The owners, Sabine and Michael, are friendly...

We traveled here in October of 2011 - for a friend's wedding at the castle in Poppi. I can't remember the couple's name that runs the place, but they're very nice & gave us great advice on what to do. The Albergo San Lorenzo was extremely peaceful & romantic. We loved it. If you're going through the area & stopping...

Albergo San Lorenzo is a small, quiet hotel in the beautiful little town of Poppi. We arrived by car and it took us a little while to find the hotel, but it was well worth the trouble. The rooms are lovely - high ceilinged, cool and very comfortable with high quality furnishings and good attention to detail.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
San Lorenzo is one of the oldest buildings in Poppi and it abuts the external walls of the castle. Its chapel was built in the XI century. After the church and the adjacent priest's house were deconsecrated they were used for a variety of purposes. In the 1980s the buildings fell in disuse and ruin. It was in 2002 that the painstaking work of restoration began, ending in 2006 with the opening of our hotel. ... more   less
