The room was large and well appointed if a little 'tired' but perfectly adequate not luxurious but good value for money. We had a standard carvery meal which was very good and excellent value for money. Recommended for a budget stay.

Really awful room. An asthmatics worse nightmare! Room was damp and mouldy, bed base was ripped and torn and mattress sank in the middle. There was really thick dust and cobwebs on top of the open wardrobe! Visible just by looking up! Also free wifi is useless as signal is poor!

We stayed in room 18 it was quiet and comfortable. The beds are a little hard but we slept on top of the duvets which helped. It was clean and well maintained, the shower was very good. It has a pub attached and that's where you go to check in and speak to management. The staff dealing with the pub/restaurant... More

This was a perfect place for an overnight on a road trip around the UK.The pub in the was ideal for our stay serving good simple food in generous portions. The car park is easy and plenty of space. A walk after dinner up the line is worthwhile form some fresh air, possible wildlife encounter.

We arrived at 11am and asked if we could leave our bags somewhere, but the receptionist went the extra mile and booked us into our room and we could leave our bags there, as we wouldnt be back until midnight. That was good... More

The picture shown is of the adjoining pub. The accommodation is in a building at the rear which looks a little like a generic travel lodge/inn. The room was quite dark, though this was because it was next to large trees and farmer's fields. Not bad for a room near Basingstoke so we didn't mind this. The windows opened fully... More

Either way, you can round off your stay with a tasty roast dinner and a tipple or two at the Crown Carvery next door.As for things to see and do in the local area, you'll be spoilt for choice. If you love country walks head down to award-winning Eastrop Park, which is full of scenic trails. Or you could explore the remains of Basing House, once the largest private residence in England.
