I could nitpick forever all of the little problems with this hostel, such as the towels being very small and the bathroom door not closing, however as it was a private room none of this mattered very much and for 33 euros a night you get a clean, decently-sized and secure room. There is a lift for heavy suitcases and a small cafe downstairs that serves drinks and light meals. The bus to the airport is just outside the hostel, where you can also find several supermarkets, cafeterias and other shops. Just a ten minute drive from El Prat airport, this is ideally located.
The owner did not speak brilliant English however he was incredibly helpful, even putting me on the right bus in the morning and saving me over 20 euros in taxi fares! Despite being so helpful he refused to accept any tips.
Wifi in the hostel is free and very good, I was able to update facebook and have Skype conversations with friends back home with no problems. Overall it was a very good hostel experience.

Excellent choice if you need to get to the airport in the middle of the night. Night buses N16 and N17 are just few steps away. Room was small but clean. Basic furniture, a bit old. Very quiet neighbourhood. You can reach Barcelona city center in 20 minutes by bus.

+price
+location (10 minutes from airport, 1 minute to bus stop to city centre)
+stuff (english of that guy wasn't the best, but he tried hard to communicate and help us. To our email about delayed flight and our arrival after midnight he answered "Ok, call me to my cell phone after your arrival and I will come to make your check-in"...)

- equipment (just bed, wardrobe and in some rooms a wash-basin. and tv...)
- comfort (some nights were noisy, local people were sitting outside on the square and drank...)

Good place for a stopover on the way from/to the airport in the case of need.

Due to the lack of Health and Safety regulations inforcement I slipped in the bathroom and fractured the L4 vertebrae and injured my right fooot. The owner did't apologise or show any empathy for what had happened. Both the bathroom and the bedroom were so much flooded due to the shower, that I was forced to throw the bedding on the floor to dry it out.

Hostal Cal Siles is great if you have an early-morning flight or arrive late at night at the aiport. The metro station is practically in front of the hostal and it only takes about 10 minutes to reach the airport. The rooms are basic, but mostly clean. The bed was comfy. Considering the room rate it is good value for money. Although, I wouldn't stay longer than 1 or 2 nights.

This was my first, only, and last time ever to stay in a hostel. I had a private room with a private bathroom, which was nice, and it was cheap. But even if it is super cheap, you definitely feel it when you lack basic amenities. The room was extremely hot, no circulating air whatsoever. I only booked it because I wanted something close to the airport as I had an early morning connection flight. I wish I would have paid a little more to stay in a hotel.

Is located really close to the airport (15 min by public bus running day and night). The room was clean but in general the hostel is really old and the pillow was really hard. The reception staff are nice.

I’m not really person who would book a hostel. I stayed here with my friend and I can hostly say that I was pleased how much we got for the price. The room was clean, comfortable beds, we had a shared bathroom, also very clean. We arrived in the night, no problem with communication or get in to the hotel. I would come back....

the hostal is very clean. that's the only good thing I can say about it. The elevator works from floor one to top. To get to street level using elevator, you are a prisoner of the owner's whims to be there or the adjoining cafe's proprietor to be available. I specifically wrote that I couldn't climb stairs, and because the café didn't open until 7 am and I had an early flight, I had to take $35 Euro taxi to airport instead of bus that would have cost $2.40 Euro. Elevator was closed. Many strange men staying there, smoking in bathroom, leaving their doors open. I felt uncomfortable. Room very small, but adequate for overnight sleep if you're going to airport. But for not much more you can stay in nice hotel with all amenities and free airport transportation. No restaurants handy, towels stiff as boards. Creepy! No English language channels on TV.

The place is good, near from the bus stop"Catalunya Park" to any destination in the town. It is also near to the airport, nothing to worry about your flights. I joined the airport buy bus from 1 minutes walk from my hotel and saved taxi money. The big problem with the hotel is language barrier, communication is not fluent in English. As you know as traveler sometimes you need some information or any other request which is not easy to get due to lack of knowledge in Spanish. But the guy, Mr George is very kind and was doing his best to find solutions to our requests and made us happy. The price is very reasonable compared to other hotels and the value. I would still recommend to any body to stay in the hotel. I had people complaining about the reception beeing closed at certain time, the hotel gives two keys, the other is for the other door giving access to the hotel in case you come or come back late after 11:00 P.M.

Answering my own question, in case anyone else has the same: - From Terminal 1 to the hostel: Take either the bus PR1 (daytime) or N17 (nighttime). They run frequently, and you can pay the driver directly. I paid ~2.15EUR and the ride was ~10mins. - Returning to Terminal 1 from the hostel: Cross the street to the metro and take line L9 (stops first at Terminal 2 and then Terminal 1). Also ~10mins ride. Buy a ticket from the machine, and note that there is a *separate* ticket valid for the local transit, and for the airport.
