Daphnila bay. Highly recommend this hotel.

Food was great. The Greek taverna has meze. They just bring food and you can choose. Nice table next to the sea. Maria the maitre d’ is lovely

Stavros the sommelier... well.. he didn’t seem like he wanted to be there. Very dry sense of humour too. But did point us in the direction of a nice Greek sav blanc, which we didn’t realise we could order in the restaurant for no additional charge on the lux me package.

Italian restaurant was good... we had pre booked and tried to change it when we go there, but couldn’t. It was really good though.

Buffet restaurant. I was disappointed to not see Greek specialities like dolmados, kleftocos, stifados etc, but there was a massive variety and it was all very good.

Anyone who complains about the food or this hotel really has some issues.

Pools clean, room clean and fine. We were on level 3, mountain view as wanted a quiet room.

We didn’t partake in the activities but there was a lot going on, near the beach.

Take a walk to the Eva via the little path just past the Greek taverna... the boat wasn’t running and it’s probably faster to walk anyway.

There’s a bus to Corfu old town at the bottom of the hill. The number 7. Be prepared to stand all the way of the hour long journey, being thrown all over the place and the driver likes the correct change too.

That is a good hill to the beach, the Greek restaurant, the creperie and the Italian restaurant, 4 minute walk and it’s doable. I saw maybe one or two shuttles... but the exercise was good for us!

Wasps: didn’t hear of anyone being stung, they are a nuisance but are only after your food...

Be warned about using the other hotels.. imperial and Eva. We were charged €10 for a bottle of water and an orange juice when we believed it was all inclusive. If you go for dinner at either hotel, the drinks in the dining room are included.

Service is very slow in the bar and lobby, but, that’s life.

All in all, good hotel, quiet area, and would recommend to couples.

This is one of those hotels that is really trying to get ahead of the competition, is it there yet..no... but its not far off.
On arrival we were welcomed warmly by the lovely staff, they went through all the usual things one small miss was they didnt check our room allocation, this did result in us being given a twin room (not ideal on a MiniMoon) we asked to move and they did this without any fuss (we did hear other couples hadnt been as lucky however). Something to bear in mind at checkin.
The room itself was basic and a little tired but nothing offensive, the bathrooms are extremly small for the overall size of the room and theres nowhere to put your stuff. I ended up moving the wall hanging mirror from my room to the dressingtable in the room to do makeup and hair which worked fine. The AC worked really well the TV was huge but had no english chanels so if your taking kids makesure you have a laptop adaptor or IPad for them if they like that kind of thing.
The walk up to the main hotel or down to the beach depending on where your room is located is steep but not outragous. as a keen avoider of gyms i managed it with nothing more than a huff and a puff and a couple 'scenery admiration' breaks, theres also a mini van if your feeling lazy.
The Main Pool is good but freezing, maybe its warmer in the high season but the water in October is Baltic! The Sea was lovely thought as was the beach, yes theres wasps everywhere but if you chose your loungers strategically you wont be too bothered.
The big plus at this hotel is the food. It is phenominal in terms of quality and choice. The main buffet has at least 7-8 main dishes every night to choice from as well as a generous salad bar, meze area, fresh fruit and deserts. if you have no self controle at a buffet and insist on eating 5 main meals on one plate i dare say by day 4 you will find it Samey, however if you can control yourself and not eat the world at every sitting you will be fine. Additional to this they have an alacart programme, take my advice call the hotel 3 weeks in advance for the portal link and use that to prebook your al a cart dinning. it books up very far in advance as they only take a set amount of pre booked guests every night, its worth the effort. Sushi and Steak was as good as Goodmans or Hawksmoor. Tavernaki is also wonderfull its a full mezze experiance, do yourself a favour and let the staff there drive, let them give you everything to try its divine. The Wine is also 5*, hit the wine tasting early on then write down what you like, the wait staff in the buffet will happily get it for you from the cellar.
Drinks from the other bars are great, there are no premixed cocktails here the spirits are all good and strong watchout!
The Spa is ok, nothing to really write home about but not bad.
The worst thing about the trip was the return transfer, do your self a favor and book a private car or taxi, unless you want to be on a huge boiling coach for 3 hours....
I had a wonderful holiday at the Daphnila Bay and would recommend to anyone who loves food and has a laid back attitude to life. Happy Travels!

We had an incredible family holiday at Grecotel Daphnila Bay Dassia in August 2018.

The 3 outstanding highlights were:

- The staff
- The food
- The view

I cannot emphasise more how kind and attentive the staff were and how willing they were to accommodate each guest's request, often at a moment's notice. Requests were met with smiles - actually, all the staff were smiling. They did their jobs well and with efficiency and were proud of their work and the resort. From the wait servers in the restaurants to the women who cleaned the rooms. We have never been treated with such kind and genuine hospitality before while travelling. Most of the front desk staff spoke at least 4 different languages so as a foreign traveller, you should be able to communicate in at least one language or another.

The food was incredible. As you can eat at any of the restaurants in the complex and in some of the restaurants at the other local hotels in the Grecotel chain, you need to insure you make reservations beforehand, otherwise we heard that they will get booked up while you're there. We did make reservations before we arrived and everything worked out smoothly. The food at each restaurant we dined at was phenomenal; all food and drink are included in the LUXME package. There was a great variety of food to choose from and unique styles of menus at some of the restaurants. The specific restaurants that stood out were Tavernaki and Il Gattopardo. Antica Cucina is the buffet restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is a huge variety of food found there - traditional Greek dishes and many continental choices. My favourite things were the cinnamon drink and also freshly baked cheese pie that came in different variations each day. Incredibly delicious.

There is a pastry station in the hotel lobby that is open many hours of the day. Here, you can find the most delicious baklava and other treats at your disposal, day and night.

The view of the Ionian Sea was beautiful and you could see this from our hotel room balcony.

My 15 year old nephew had loads to do and loved the trip. There is a friendly watersports activity centre right next to the hotel with lots of different motorised water sports activities that you can choose from (around 25-50 Euros per 20 minute ride) and an excellent driver who provides thrills for young people who want them. You can't book, it's first come, first served, but there was never a very long wait.

There were also newly refurbished professional tennis courts on site, with lights if you want to play at night, racquets and balls provided free of charge, and a water cooler actually in the seating area of the court! There were regular football games provided for young people and nightly volleyball on the beach. There is also one table tennis table for guests. It would be helpful if there could be lights above it or moved to an area that is better lit so people could play at night. And maybe a second one? It was very popular!

The only other recommendation I would make is to ensure that the shuttle bus down to the beach runs around the clock with a later finish time, with a designated driver who only drives the shuttle bus back and forth. Currently, it runs on a schedule but it didn't always arrive at the time on the schedule and the last run up the hill was earlier than when the restuarants finished so you could be stranded at the bottom of the hill if you have a later reservation. As dinners are very leisurely here, you could spend several hours dining and find you don't have any way to get back up the hill afterwards, which then can cause anxiety if you have any physical limitations.

All in all, we had a really fantastic trip, due to the high quality food, service, and attention we received. Thank you for everything!!!
Thank Monica R

I may be wrong but I am pretty sure there is a limit. It would be only fair when you think about it otherwise the early bookers would prohibit the majority of guests from getting a booking. The intention is to give everybody... More

I think the buses finish around 10pm and the boat around 8pm; can't quite recall. There are timetables in reception too.
