Self catering family room was minuscule and very dark with tiny windows, no view despite the location, and poorly lit. Bathroom was also minuscule, about the same size as a typical Japanese bathroom without the design features and fittings found in Japan. There was no room to open even a small suitcase. The bed was overly soft despite being so...

We, a mature couple, stayed early December and were pleasantly surprised. Quiet, excellent shower and beds (we had twin). Meals were generous and especially enjoyed breakfast and coffee. If you are staying in the area we also recommend the Café/Restaurant at the Railway Station 5 mins down the road. On a hot day the tables outside are very shady and...

National Park is very small and remote, so accommodation options few. We stayed at the NP Hotel a few years ago but it has now been enlarged. Rooms are small, but not tiny. The bathroom was tiny with low end fittings. Great views over the mountains. Staff were friendly and helpful. Amenities were generous, with hot tubs and BBQ available....

This hotel is in a great location for access to the Tongariro National Park. The hotel will arrange transfers and packed lunch. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. It has the convenience of an on site bistro and a communal kitchen, lounge, spa and laundry. These facilities were good. The views of the mountains are great from the front...

The hotel is well situated not far from the beginning of the Tongariro walk. The room was a little old style but it is more like a mountain accommodation than a beach one so the expectation should be different. We had a buffet dinner for christmas day that was good. I found that the breakfast didn't worth the 18 nzd....

My boyfriend and I stayed here as accommodation for the Tongariro Crossing and while the room itself was smaller than expected, served us great. Loved having the communal kitchen and the Spiral bar/restaurant food was lovely! Shout out to our waiter Dan who was attentive right from the beginning getting us settled and followed up when our orders had been...

I booked with their TAC package which included transport to and from the Tongariro track + continental breakfast for two mornings, and lunch for the hike/walk. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Small yet functional with a mini fridge and television, and a coupe, sitting chairs. They have a restaurant and a community kitchen as well. We found the motel...

We stayed here in a standard double room for two nights while doing the crossing. On the positive side, it was not too expensive, the staff were friendly, the room was reasonably sized, and it was convenient having a restaurant on site. Wifi wasn't free but cheap - $4 per 24 hrs. There were several negatives though - first, the...

Definitely morea trekkers lodge than a calm hotel. Quite noisyat 5AM already. Very small room and bathroom, but ok to stay for 2 nights. Good dinner and very good breakfast. Would recommend the hotel for hikers, shuttle service for Tongarino crossing and in the midde of nowhere which is great.

Thank you for your comments. Many people use the Hotel as a base while exploring all that Tongaririo National Park has to offer, so people do tend to wake up quite early:)
