After reading comments on the Tripadvisor, we decided to stay here for TAC. They do offer the earliest shuttle (we took the one at 5:25am and arrived around 5:45am) and multiple afternoon pickups. We stayed in the backpacker room which was clean and quiet. There is centralized heating system in the room but took us a few minutes to figure...

If you are planning to do the Tongariro Crossing using their shuttle service - be sure to have their required minimum gear or you will be turned away and unable to hike (fully waterproof jacket, plenty of warm layers, sturdy footwear, sun protection, food and water, provided map). It is for your safety as conditions on the crossing can change...

Our studio chalet was nice and comfortable but, most unfortunately, we hadn't booked to use the shuttle for the crossing as had prebooked with a group (our mistake). Got the impression that our welcome was a bit watered down as we weren't using their shuttle. We half expected food but were told there was nothing for that day or the...

2 young travellers- stayed in a twin room (room 1) for one night to do the tongariro crossing..... we checked in late which wasn't a problem, and were greeted by a very friendly guy on reception who checked us in, gave us our information for the shuttle the next morning and we were off to our room..... beds very comfortable!...

Stayed in one of the chalets for two nights so we could hike the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Wonderful! It was a bit rainy and foggy during our stay, so we couldn't always see the volcanoes, but that was okay. The area was beautiful regardless. The chalet was comfortable and spacious enough for us to strew our hiking gear about. Taking...

We stayed a Thursday and Friday night while in the area to do Tongariro Crossing. Excellent shuttle service, with earliest departure and numerous pick up times at the finish. The packed lunch was great and our accommodation very good.

We rented a one bedroom cabin for two nights. It was new, lovely and clean, with beautiful views and all conveniences. Nice grassy setting. Very convenient for hiking and exploring the area with well organized shuttle bus and packed breakfast and lunch for the Tongariro Crossing.

We stayed at the Discovery lodge just last week and were very happy with our stay. It is very easy to find, right off the main road and a short drive to whakapapa. We stayed in a studio chalet. It was the perfect size for a few days. Very clean and modern wth comfortable beds and great mountain views. We...

We ended up here because it was raining and we did not want to camp but we were so happy that we did!!! This has the earliest shuttle to crossing - made our hike so enjoyable. It wasn't too hot, no other people in our pictures, it was stunning. Great staff especially the receptionist and shuttle drivers - super informative...

Discovery provides the best shuttle experience for the Tongariro Crossing. This was one of the busiest campsites we've been to and it lake the facilities for the number of people staying. Fine for one night to use for the shuttle and the crossing.
