Delightful spot with warm and friendly staff. Nothing was to much effort. Rooms were spacious and well air conditioned. Food was good. Well positioned, close to all wine estates and local attractions. Highly recommended for a family weekend or a couples retreat,

We stayed at one of the Fynbos heritage rooms and enjoyed the convenient, well decorated interior. It felt very comfortable to stay in a place like this. The excellent service of the staff, the ones behind the desk as well those serving diner, we did appreciate a lot. We made the "mistake" to book only for one night during our...

What an amazing find in such an awesome place. Heidi was an exceptional host and the staff are courteous and very helpful and friendly. We stayed in one of the newly renovated heritage rooms over the road and the bed was superbly comfy.

I was particularly keen to stay on historic Church Street, and some rooms in the Tulbagh Hotel look directly on to Church Street. However, even those that don't make the best of their origins in an early 19th century building. They have been brought up to date very imaginatively and with many stylish touches, and we liked both the interior...

The whole experience was very pleasant. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was clean, neat, comfortable and well located in historical Church Street. We would most definitely recommend the establishment and will return for another visit sometime in thd near future.

The setting was lovely, with an almost private small pool just outside our door. The amenities in the room were very good, including silent air-conditioning! it just needed a few hooks in the shower area for wet swimsuits and towels. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and attentive.

Lovely stay. The staff are first class, very friendly. The room was well laid out and nicely decorated. Food for both evening meal and breakfast was excellent. Well worth returning too to enjoy the hotel and area.

My husband and I stayed at Tulbagh hotel over Valentine's Day (just be coincidence, not design) - we had a delightful stay - friendly and efficient staff, clean and luxurious accommodation - plenty of old world charm but also professionally managed! The situation is also ideal - smack bang in centre of town where you can stroll to see all...

Spent a day in Tulbagh and decided to stop for Lunch at the Hotel. Very clean and obviously well maintained from what i could see. A very varied menu with some excellent choices. Had the Steak and was cooked how i requested but no sauces offered - perhaps my mistake for not asking but would expect to have been told?...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Tulbagh is centrally-located and conveniently placed to explore the town with its historic Church Street and many other attractions and amenities. The main hotel building dates from 1859 & offers a range of contemporary-styled luxurious rooms. The Winterhoek Manor(1813) and the Toll House(1809), opposite the hotel, are two of the heritage properties in Church Street, offering charming period rooms. Individual décor and fine cotton linen adorning four poster beds. Chandeliers on yellowwood beamed ceilings. Our Honeymoon Suite is the jewel in our crown. Crafted from the old wagon shed, this suite oozes romantic charm. Open thatch, two fireplaces, bath and shower for two. There are three pool areas, free Wi-Fi throughout and an in-house beauty therapist. All areas have air conditioning and there are cosy wood-burning fires for winter evenings. Tulbagh is just over an hours drive from Cape Town, nestled at the foot of the Witzenburg, Winterhoek and Obiqua Mountains in the heart of the Cape Winelands. ... more   less
