Detailed Reviews
As others have posted, staying here is a step back in time. No computer for reservations, you get an actual key for your room with a key tag stating the hotel's name and room number. You also have to use the same key to enter the hotel to access the rooms.
The room was decent in size and yes, very dated. However, it was dated in a charming way and was very clean. Despite the age of the room, it felt very homey with no concerns of dirt and germs.
Location is pretty much the best in Port Elgin, steps from the beach and many local eateries. A little pricy for what you get but considering the location and it being "prime season" it didn't bother us.

Our stay here was adequate but don’t expect anything that approaches luxury! The rooms are dated, the towels are practically see through and the common spaces have no sense of welcome or attractiveness. No fridge or coffee machine in the room.
On the plus side; staff were friendly & helpful (some of them were “dated” as well), rooms & linens were clean, a very convenient location, & restaurants on site.

The exterior of the Erie Beach Hotel is eye catching with a huge expanse of lawn flanked by well kept flower beds and shrubs. It is a wonderful sight for the eyes. The main advantage is the hotel's proximity to the beach. The room we were assigned was okay but too small. Amenities we are used to in hotels, like mini fridges and coffee makers, were absent. However, staff were nice and there was no problem getting ice. The dining was very good.

To start with I am 63 years old. I believe the first time I visited the Erie Beach
Hotel for dinner I was 9 years old. So for 54 years I have had dinner there at least once per year, an anual treat growing up and then for my wife and children. It was my favorite restaurant, that is until our visit this past Saturday April 20th. We were getting together with a group of friends who drove down from Parry Sound. I had made a reservation in the dining room to treat our friends to what I had referred to as the best perch dinner they would ever experience. After arriving at our home in Guelph we drove the 90 minutes to Port Dover. We were seated in the back corner of the what I consider to be the dingy dining room where as the main dining room had seating available. 1st strike. We each ordered a perch entre. Salads and bread were brought to the table which was fantastic. Food arrived. Perch was over cooked and dry. 2nd strike. French fries were cold on the plate. I ordered the 8 ounce which came with 8 pieces of perch. My wife ordered the 5 ounce which was 3 pieces of perch and a plate full of fries. As she said she ate 3 pieces of dried out perch and 8 french fries and pushed her plate away. At no time did the waitress ask how our meal was. Coffee or desert was not offered. 3rd strike.
Well Andrew we certainly were not happy and apologized to our friends as we sat in Tim Hortons across the street having a coffee and and our desert.
50 plus years of enjoying the Erie Beach came to an end last evening.

I am so lucky to have discovered this hotel. Everyone who I dealt with were extremely hospitable and went out of their to make sure my stay there met all my needs. From the kitchen staff who snuck me through the kitchen to get to the front desk, when I got turned around on my arrival. The roof top restaurant staff who were so familure with the menu were able to assist us in our selection from the wide variety that was being offered. We were all extremely happy with the choices we made. The location was wonderful, so close to the .

We have been going to the Erie Beach for perch meals for 40 years. Have 6 to 8 meals a year there.Went for lunch yesterday with Friends. Disappointing experience. Sat outside on the Perch. Hostess was not welcoming, no smile and spoke to us bluntly. We all had the perch and our meals were disappointing. Fish was undercooked and fries were not hot. Coleslaw was very wet and runny. I way below the food standard We have known. Server was uninterested and forgot 2 items We ordered..
$82.00 for Lunch with one beer and an 18% tip. There used to be line-ups to eat here…not any longer. Sad to see this great establishment lose its quality and great service.

Had a great stay!! Hotel is clean and close to the beach and everything else. There is a great café just one block up called coca cabana that you don’t wanna miss out on. This quick trip and getaway is a must do!

This is one of the lovliest hotels we've stayed in. It has a small town charm that is all too often lost in big chain hotels.
The staff was so super friendly. The front desk staff checked us in early and allowed us to park after check out so we could continue to enjoy the beach. The housekeeping staff helped us at check out. Truly, I haven't experienced this level of service at a hotel in a long time.
Our room was clean and comfortable. We stayed in one of the upstairs rooms. We had tons of space and seating (no having to sit on the bed to watch tv).
The location to the beach is a bonus. We will definitely stay at The Erie Beach Hotel when we visit the beach again.

Cute little hotel in an excellent location. Wonderful staff and service. Hotel is a bit dated and although my room was very clean my tub did not drain at all and my carpet was buckling. Just feel a little TLC is needed. Would stay again as it’s not terrible. Not many hotels to choose from and it’s convenient

We stayed here in July and really enjoyed it. Staff were helpful and the room was clean, with two comfortable beds. It’s half a block from a popular, sandy beach too. Port Dover has got a lot of nice restaurants and some lovely neighborhoods to bike through. It’s worth a visit, and this is a nice place to stay while you’re doing it.

I agree definitely check with the hotel it is only 18 rooms. Be a good place for you to stay though for your pedal group. They have a full bar and two restaurants, serving basically same food put the upstairs more casual one is less expensive and very convivial. I would get on checking with the Erie Beach quickly.
