Love everything this resort has to offer. The fishing is the best if you love salmon and halibut Great lodging, food and devices. The guides and staff are the best. Flying into the resort via helicopter is an added bonus

QCL is an unbelievable experience that I would recommend to anyone, even if they are not in to fishing. The grounds and facilities are top notch. Everything is exceptionally well-crafted, appealing to the eye and creates an environment of relaxation after a beautiful day of fishing. If you are looking for something a little more lively, the Bellringer is a ton of fun! Seeing the fish weighed as they come in and socializing with the other guests wile enjoying great drinks and appies was a highlight each day. The fishing guides are exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful, ensuring that your time on the water is productive and fun. The food is world class...more what you would expect from a 5-star restaurant as opposed to a fishing lodge in a remote location. While everything at QCL was great, I must say that the service is what really sets it apart for me. The staff are all wonderful, attentive and fun and make what is already an outstanding experience even better. Kudos to the team at QCL and thank you for an exceptional weekend!

TRIP # 10 June 13- 17, 2022 Recently, my wife and I visited the Queen Charlotte Lodge (QCL) in British Columbia. The tagline for the QCL is “Fishing First Class”. Regretfully, it was our experience that its only similarity to First Class was the lodge’s sky-high pricing. The premium experience began with a 2 ½ hour delay in departure. I understand that there are a lot of variables in play for air travel however the lack of inclusion and explanation from the lodge and its representatives was the first of many failures in execution for the lodge. Scheduled activities were delayed for the day. The first day you have half a day to fish due to travel. When you are then delayed two and a half hours this has a major impact on your fishing experience. Especially at these rates. No explanation or apologies for its guests for the owners that greeted us upon our arrival . QCL represents itself as a “Luxury Fishing Lodge”. The reality is that the rooms lacked basic amenities that you would find in any budget motel. A hairdryer, in-room safe and even room keys seem to be a luxury beyond the QCL’s premium vacation experience. Additionally, my wife and I had planned to celebrate our anniversary with a special dinner at the lodge. For reason(s) unexplained, the lodge elected to cancel our dinner plans with no alternative provided. All of the above aside, QCL’s self-described “First Class Fishing Experience” was the reason for my visit. Once again, the QCL demonstrated itself to be a systemic failure. I purchased the lodge’s guide services to take advantage of local knowledge and provide the best opportunity for success. The lodge assigned us an affable young guide that we soon determined was a “junior” in his profession. Over three days and a half days we watched him struggle to locate fish and manage equipment resulting in a less than satisfactory experience. We learned later that the boat’s fish finder was not working and we also ran out of lures for the Halibut leaving us with one rod to fish with. Sorry QCL, the expectation here is that a world class lodge has functioning equipment and enough lures to support the guests. Over our stay we observed that other guides and their clients were experiencing vastly superior results. Surprisingly there appeared to be minimal communication and cooperation between the QCL’s guides. We learned later that allegedly the guides have a side wager of $4,500.00 rewarding the boat that brings in the biggest fish for the season. While this may add a layer of interest for the guides, I have to question if this arrangement provides the best possible experience for the lodges' customers. I have recently read a blog by Brian Clive (VP-Sales and Corporate Relations for QCL) on It’s a Guide’s Life. To quote Brian: “Throughout the day the guide effortlessly applies his fishing skill and simultaneously looks for any and all things that he can add to the day to increase the quests enjoyment.( one would think this would include functioning equipment and enough bait and lures to get through the day, I guess my expectations are unrealistic) ” Our Guide was obviously not familiar with these current practices. Mr. Clive, I ask if this is your protocol for your guides how did we manage to slip through the cracks. I know of at least two other couples that had a worst experience then we did ( hard to believe that was possible, the couple from Calgary actually had to replace their guide with another that turned out to be less capable then the first), you and I spoke after our trip and you told me that you had spoke to them directly about their horrific trip. I seriously question the five star reviews. The finale was our frozen fish was sent to Vancouver for our journey back to Toronto. Two days later QCL advised that we had left a box of fish at the airport which was mislabeled by the lodge, and they would ship to us at our expense. Their error, that I was expected to pay for. At least we can say that the QCL experience was consistent After reviewing the reviews online I do not see anywhere a response from the owners. I would think that staying at such a First class fishing resort that the owners would be highly involved and responding to the reviews. I am curious to see if this review gets swept under the mat like I imagine all the other less then favourable ones have. To say that the Queen Charlotte Lodge delivered a mediocre experience, albeit at a very premium price, would be a disservice to all those lodges that are truly mediocre or at least aspire to be mediocre. Sorry QCL in our opinion your premium fishing experience was a consistent failure from beginning to end. Brad Warden

I was invited to join two long time friends and ex-workmates on a three day weekend fishing trip to QCL. All I can say is "WOW"! Let me say that I am not a fisherman and have never had the slightest inclination to be one. But this was a very excitement filled trip. I can't speak highly enough for the outstanding efforts made by every single last person employed at this spectacular fishing lodge. The scenery of the wilderness is jaw-dropping! Three of us caught our limit and released about four or five times that number! We saw eagles and bears, Orcas and Humpback whales! We even had great pleasure watching a massive sea lion come steal three chinooks just as we were preparing the net to land them, one right after the other! What a spectacular sight! But after the third one in about ten minutes, we decided to move and relocate to another area. I landed and released a 131cm, 69lb halibut and another about 40lbs about twenty minutes later. What a buzz that was! We were well guided by our official guide, Derek. He was awesome. The food was excellent as was the whole experience. If I was to write everything thats great about the Queen Charlotte Lodge, I'd be writing for days. Great memories, great fun, breathtaking experiences. Thank to the friends who invited me and to everyone at QCL for a great trip. This is one well oiled organization! From arriving at YVR south terminal to picking up a box of 50lbs of fish this was an experience I won't forget.

The fishing is awesome especially if you get a guide that is experienced and knows how to bring in the fish or where to go to catch them. We caught anywhere from 20-25 salmon per day (can't keep it all but it is fun regardless). Make sure you dress warm as it doesn't get much higher then 15 inland and colder on the water. The owners are focused on creating a world class experience and they will be there to greet you when you arrive and thank you for coming upon your departure, great personal touch. The bar and restaurant staff are friendly and always willing to go the extra mile. Food is great with tons of options. If you ever get a chance to go, DO IT! You will not regret it.

We keep coming back. You cannot beat the service from the minute you get to the airport to arrival at the Lodge. Rooms have everything you need for comfort. You don’t spend much time in them anyway. Food is fantastic. Enjoyed a massage and needed it from all that reeling. We have zero complaints. They give you a list of what to pack. Think layers as it’s cool on the water.

Wow, just wow. You are taken care of from the first minute you arrive until the last minute you leave. I didn’t know what to expect however, what ever expectations I did have, were exceeded exponentially. They run this facility with military precision with the goal of getting you fishing as quickly and comfortably as possible. Well done QCL!

QCL is a slice of heaven. Top of the line salmon and halibut fishing along side the most beautiful scenery and wildlife. Fishing guides are outstanding and staff are like none other - no is never an answer at QCL! Been 5 times now and will continue to look forward to these special 4 days a year.
