QCL is an unbelievable experience that I would recommend to anyone, even if they are not in to fishing. The grounds and facilities are top notch. Everything is exceptionally well-crafted, appealing to the eye and creates an environment of relaxation after a beautiful day of fishing. If you are looking for something a little more lively, the Bellringer is a ton of fun! Seeing the fish weighed as they come in and socializing with the other guests wile enjoying great drinks and appies was a highlight each day. The fishing guides are exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful, ensuring that your time on the water is productive and fun. The food is world class...more what you would expect from a 5-star restaurant as opposed to a fishing lodge in a remote location. While everything at QCL was great, I must say that the service is what really sets it apart for me. The staff are all wonderful, attentive and fun and make what is already an outstanding experience even better. Kudos to the team at QCL and thank you for an exceptional weekend!

Best service on a holiday we’ve ever received! I don’t know who does the staff training but hats off to them! Beautiful area! We had good fishing and an excellent guide in Jaxson. He worked very hard to put us on fish and looked after us on one day that the water was rough. Comfortable boat and decent room. The food… the food is outstanding! If you don’t gain weight on this holiday you’ve done it wrong!!

QCL knows how to roll out the red carpet and give you a truly memorable elite fishing experience! This was our second visit and we loved it even more than the first time! Everything from how they check you in at the airport until the return was first class. We arrived to greetings by the owners, Paul & Cyn, and their amazing staff. We spent 4 days fishing with an amazing guide, Steve who showed us all his special places to fish and sent us home with a major haul! Lunch was on the Driftwood, their own fishing grounds trawler, and weigh in celebrations at the Bell Ringer. Breakfast and dinner at the lodge were delightful. I wish I could remember more names, but honestly, every staff member was amazing! They have an amazingly well organized operation. Oh yeah, and their Spa was awesome too! its hard to find time to go for a hike, but do, their grounds are old growth forest and super peaceful.

I just returned from a visit where we hosted 40 people to include key customers and employees.
I have been blessed in my life and career to travel many parts of the globe and stay at the finest places.
QCL sets a standard at every touchpoint. The staff in every function to a person delivers the highest level of care, kindness, and concern for your experience while at QCL.
This team is quite literally well trained but all manage to still be their real selves while serving. Each brings a smile, knowledge and a personal touch that ensures your visit will be flawless and memorable.
I cannot say enough good things about QCL. Great fishing comes from the natural location ( and amazing guides) a good experience all the way around is a choice of the QCL team. Well done.

We had a wonderful time at QCL. The service is outstanding and the attention to detail is second to none. The chefs were diligent about our daughter’s food allergy and we had no worries about anything she was eating. The management was always visible and available if you had a question or concern. Our fishing guide was so personable and friendly. He was great with our kids and made learning a new skill so fun for all of us!

The fishing is awesome especially if you get a guide that is experienced and knows how to bring in the fish or where to go to catch them. We caught anywhere from 20-25 salmon per day (can't keep it all but it is fun regardless). Make sure you dress warm as it doesn't get much higher then 15 inland and colder on the water. The owners are focused on creating a world class experience and they will be there to greet you when you arrive and thank you for coming upon your departure, great personal touch. The bar and restaurant staff are friendly and always willing to go the extra mile. Food is great with tons of options. If you ever get a chance to go, DO IT! You will not regret it.

Exceptional service starts when you board the plane to Haida Gwaii and doesn't end until you arrive back in Vancouver. All staff greeted you with smiles, offered assistance and made you feel welcomed whenever you interacted with them. Our fishing guide was professional, skilled, enjoyable to spend time with, knowledgeable about where to catch the different types of fish and worked constantly to help us catch Chinook, Lingcod, Halibut and Coho. We reeled in 14, 17, 19 and 25 lb Chinook, 40 and 57 lb Halibut and several Lingcod with a top weight of 22 lbs! We saw humpback whales, porpoises, black bears on the shore, seals and many types of birds. Delicious food offerings have something for everyone. Accommodations are clean, cozy, warm and comfortable. I do suggest black out curtains or blinds for the bedrooms though. The Lodge is beautiful and the dock area with all the boats and the Bell Ringer Bar was a great and fun place to hang out after a day of fishing. There is a spa, hot tub, sauna, trails to walk, cigar lounge and beautiful views all around. We will be back!

Hi Tom, As Bill pointed out above, the federal department of Fisheries and Oceans manages the fishery. In our fishery an angler can retain 4 salmon per day, 2 of which can be Chinook, the balance would likely be Coho, Pink or Chum salmon. You may also retain 1 halibut,(size restrictions apply), 2 Lingcod and 4 Rockfish. We have a possession limit which is the total amount of fish you are allowed to retain during your stay. The possession limit is 2 daily limits on each of the above.
The weather here in Haida Gwaii is generally cooler than wherever our guests are coming from! This week in early June the daytime temperatures are around 13-15 degrees C and it can feel cooler than that on the water. Pack layers - a snug Smartwool base layer with a polar fleece jacket or pullover is good. We provide good warm waterproof gear for your time on the water. You'll wear comfortable stretch rain pants in the boat so again a fleece or wool legging or sweatpant is a good choice for underneath.
Certainly most people focus on the fishing and being on the water. There is a short hiking trail near the lodge and sometimes people will explore the shorelines and tide pools out near the fishing grounds. As for kayaks, there are 2 tandems and a single. Guests who wish to fish a little less will take a morning off from fishing and explore the estuaries by kayak.
There are more places to choose from in the Naden Harbour area.
