Phenomenal fishing and even better food and hospitality. My first visit and I’ll definitely be back. It’s a casual setting but the clubhouse and dining was first class. The small touches, like a bar and snacks at the dock and daily homemade food, made it even more memorable. I upgraded to the larger boats, which were as good to avail the rain, but all the boats covered the fishing grounds well. The guides and staff were super friendly. The guides worked hard to put us on the fish and they delivered! The lodge coordinates our hotel travel in Vancouver and it was seamless. I can’t recommend it more highly. PS, leave time for lunch at the Flying Beaver when you fly in/out of the YVR south terminal.

The Lodge staff were great. Food was delicious and our Guide was a blast. Fishing was also quite good…..we let a couple of lunkers go and caught a mess of Coho and quite a few Chinooks. :) Weather was unusually sunny for a couple of days and that topped off the trip in a nice way. Peregrine Lodge does a great job - been going since ‘97. I’ll go again for sure.

This was my first trip with Peregrine Lodge but my 7th or 8th trip to Haida Gwaii. My experience with Peregrine was nothing but fantastic. Great communication from booking straight through the entire trip. Food was amazing and the staff were all helpful and very friendly. Our guide Steve M was great. He guided us to some awesome Chinook's, Coho, and Halibut. We did luck out with the weather and the Ocean was very calm for us. We will definitely be coming back again.

Had the worst experience of any destination fishing trip I’ve ever taken. This resort needs to spend some money upgrading equipment and boats. There were daily issues with boats breaking down and having to get towed back in. Every boat has issues with Downriggers not working. We fished early June and the run hadn’t arrived yet so we were essentially blackmouth fishing, trolling spoons. I spent and entire day with a broken downrigger on my side catching zero fish while the guy on the other side with a functional downrigger landed 9. They don’t have ice for the fish so you end up with mush on one side of the fish. Upon receiving out fish at the airport in Vancouver I opened the boxes to find that none of my fish from the four day trip was frozen. Complete waste! There are tons of outfitters. Find a different one.

Response from Peregrine Lodge, Owner at Peregrine Lodge
Responded Apr 28, 2023
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback related to your trip to Peregrine Lodge in June of 2022. We are very sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We take every measure to ensure we are offering high-quality and well-maintained equipment to our guests. We apologize that you encountered an issue with your downrigger, and we appreciated your patience as we worked to address the problem as quickly as possible. We apologize if your fish arrived in a defrosted state. All of our guests’ fish is vacuum packed, flash frozen at the lodge, then boxed in double waxed fish boxes and finally topped with cryo-pack ice sheets. As we have no control over individual guests’ travel times and arrangements, we do recommend a third-party shipper at the lodge to ensure your catch arrives safely and frozen to your final destination. Regarding the boat upgrades, we understand your frustration and apologize for any confusion that may have occurred. The boat you were assigned was the boat associated with your booking. We make every effort to ensure that our guests are aware of the booking process and any associated fees for boat upgrades, including sending multiple confirmation emails to all of our guests prior to their arrival. We apologize if this was not clear to you, and we will review our communication methods to ensure that we are providing all relevant and necessary information to our guests. We would like to clarify that guests who have booked and paid for boat upgrades do have priority for the available upgraded boats, and all of our larger boats were already pre-booked for the duration of your trip. We understand that this may have been disappointing for you, but we believe it would have been unfair to take a boat rental away from a guest who had pre-arranged and pre-paid for that boat. We have contacted you directly twice and spoken with you in an attempt to provide an acceptable resolution to your experience, although unsuccessful on both occasions. We appreciate and take all of our guests’ feedback seriously so that we may provide a better experience year after year. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you choose to reconsider our endeavors at making this right for you. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience that you may have experienced during your stay and thank you for your feedback as it drives us to improve for all of our future visitors.

I was lucky enough to experience this wonderful place!! The people here are first class. The food was amazing. The fishing is world class! ! We landed over 100 chinooks in 4 day. Plenty of Coho and halibut too! Our guides Jonny and Jorgen were a wealth of knowledge and patients. The look on my face in this picture says it all! Releasing this fish and watching swim away was the greatest!! It won Big fish of the day!! Thank you Peregrine Lodge for the greatest fishing experience ever!!

My family went up to Peregrine for 4 days and it was the best week of my life. Once you step of the helicopter you enter into a magical place like no other. For my first time there it was phenomenal. First there’s the lodge and staff, the staff are the best they are like family always asking what you need and how they can help you. And the lodge and rooms themselves are clean and nice and have a home feeling. The food. The food is the best food I have had in my life. The food is almost better than the fishing, it is 5 out of 5. The food there will never leave you disappointed. I gained 3 pounds because I couldn’t stop eating. It is the best food you will ever have. The fishing and guides. I had Craig Areneson. Craig was a very good guide and knew the water very well. Our first day I caught a 14 pound Coho and it was spectacular. Craig’s a great guy and now a great friend. Spending four days with him was great. The whole experience was amazing and I wish I could have stay longer. I would recommend going there cause it was be a shame if you never went. It was a trio of a lifetime.

These people have this experience down pat. Very organized and professional, first class. Gourmet food and good accommodations. Fishing is great but it’s fishing, never know how good it will be. Wild life scene includes eagles, harbor seals, bears, sea lions and orca’s

The setting is unmatched for its natural beauty. The amenities, the staff and the food get top-rating. It is family owned and it shows, there's a lot of care that goes into the guest experience, down the the smallest detail. The fishing fleet works for all types and the guides were very professional and they care about the guest experience. Even though you spend a lot of time on the water (9-10 hours per day). You hate to pull your rod up at the end of the day. Nature's fishing bounty is the Lodge's ace-in-the hole. I'm looking forward to our next trip, already. BTW, there's no cell service, only wi-fi at the lodge and that's a good thing. You only need your smartphone to take pictures.

Had a phenomenal 5 day / 4 night trip up to Peregine Lodge this July. From the private jet & helicopter ride, to exquisite dining and unparalleled service, the lodge was top notch. We had Neil as our fishing guide for all 4 days on the water and he was unreal. I had brought my 65 year old dad up for his first Haida Gwaii experience and he was keen to try out his old school 1990’s fishing strategies. Neil was incredibly accommodating, bringing out all of his 90’s requests, new lures and flashers on board daily to make the old guy happy. Who knows if they were any help, we caught our fill and were throwing back chinooks some days! As for me, a complete novice fisherwoman, excited to learn how to bait a hook and club my salmon catch, Neil taught me it all! It was the 4-day intense fishing course on salmon & halibut that id always wanted. He was incredibly patient with me, and had the calming teacher voice to go with it while I reeled in my first catch solo. As far as safety is concerned, we felt so well taken care of the entire time. In our full mustang survival suits and guide with over 20 yrs experience guiding in the area, we were well briefed on all and any safety precautions. The whole Peregrine team goes above and beyond to ensure that you’re taken care of from end to end, my only wish was that we could have stayed longer!
