This is an absolutely incredible curated experience in the middle of the desert, that I would highly recommend for a bucket list experience.
I booked the Private 5 tent luxury camp and the extra cost vs the larger camp was worth every penny. The rooms are immaculate and feel like a hotel room with a full shower/sink/bathroom and AC that works very well, plus they all have glass floor to ceiling windows and door looking out onto the dunes vs the larger camp where they face each other with no windows.
The service is impeccable from the moment you arrive with a welcome drink and refreshing towel as you are shown to your room the bags are taken care of and room tour provided. Everything is very well organized with giving me time relax and shower from the long travel day before picking me up for a camel ride out into the dunes to watch the sunset and then returning for dinner. They were always nearby for anything you need offering wine or cocktails while we waited for dinner. It was another reason why the Private 5 tent camp is so worth it vs the much larger 15 tent camp as there are so few guests it feels very intimate and attentive like it is your own personal camp.
I booked the Sundowner with Champagne experience which I would HIGHLY recommend, it was one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had of all my various travels around the world, to be greeted atop one of the massive dunes with a bottle of champagne to enjoy while you sit on a cushion and watch the stunning sunset.
The camp is much farther away than any other camps so there is no noise pollution and in the morning walking out into the dunes alone to watch the sunrise with no one around was surreal and so worth the seclusion and privacy this smaller higher luxury tiered camp provided.
I had always wanted to have a truly luxury experience in the Desert and they delivered on every level. I would love to return to do it again and highly recommend it to everyone wanting a truly magnificent Sahara luxury experience.
Tips: -Book the Private 5 tent camp -Book a Sundowner with Champagne (non alcoholic or other alcoholic options as well) -Book a camel ride to go with the sundowner experience
The communication once booked was wonderful too always responding very fast to any emails or questions, they didn’t list the sundowner experience on their website when I initially booked but they offered it with several options when they emailed to confirm the booking.

I’ve been to Egypt and Jordan before, I’m no stranger to the desert but dunes like this are a once in a lifetime experience. Worth every hour in the car to get here. The camp had awesome amenities, good food, the tent was honestly bigger than any other room we’ve stayed in while in Morocco, with a king sized bed, warm water, and all the necessities… YES it was cold, but the desert is a place of extremes, make sure to bring your merino wool socks, jacket, leggings, and grab a turban to help you with the wind. Lahcen, our guide, was a MAJOR highlight of our trip, having grown up in the area he knew all about it - history, the desert, archeology, customs, every pit stop was enriching, everything we needed he had a way to get it or find it for us, his car was always in pristine condition and he always allowed us to go at our pace and do the things we were more interested in. He picked us up at our riad in Marrakech and insisted on finding us right at the door not just the parking lot to help with our bags, that was the first sign of a great experience to come. He is so talented with Languages - Italian, Spanish, English, Arabic, Berber… it was seriously impressive. He knew tons about Amazigh / Berber culture, practices, language and history as well as the history of Morocco in general. We couldn’t have chosen a better person to guide us on our three day trip. On top of it I forgot my wallet in his car and he kindly managed to get it to me in another city. A plus of this whole experience is this is a business owned by Moroccans and specifically by people from Merzouga which I greatly appreciated… we were caught in a sandstorm entering the Sahara the first day, but thanks to Lahcen’s knowledgeability we felt safe and taken care of. Camel rides, fossils, stargazing, you name it- it delivered. AMAZING views of the sand dunes that we’ll never forget! Thank you, gracias, shokran, merci, grazie!

It is a very interesting and nice experience to stay in this desert camp for one night to watch sunset and sunrise in the Sahara. Watching the starry night sky is also amazing. While the tent is not very luxury, it is well equipped with USB charging, shower and toilet in the tent. Although the water supply is not very stable, it is totally understandable as we are staying in the remote desert! The dinner and breakfast is surprisingly good and the staff are all very welcoming too. Highly recommended for visiting the desert !

We stayed 2 nights at this desert camp. On the first night we were accommodated in the camp with 5 tents, which was very comfortable with all the necessary amenities and most importantly air-conditioning was running 24/7. The tents are at a higher platform which offers excellent view of the sand dunes. The view of the Sunset and Sunrise was truly magical. The next morning we were told that our booking was in the other tent which is less luxurious and we have to shift. We had booked in the Merzouga luxury desert camp and as per the description it has 5 tents. Though we were not convinced with what they said, we shifted without making any issue. The other tent was nice, location was good, but the air-conditioning was not running continuously and it was not possible to stay inside the tent in the midday heat. For the price we paid, we expected to have the air-conditioning on all the time. Otherwise, our stay was very enjoyable. Food was good and service provided by the staff was excellent. Overall it was a memorable experience for us.

As part of a three day outing from the Riad L’Orangerie, Merrakech, this camp is very comfortable. The tent accommodations are first-rate. A large air-conditioned space with great beds, good showers and plenty of chairs, tables, and rugs to make you feel like you’re a sultan. Well, that is just the tent for your personal use. The large communal tent where meals and entertainment happen were a delight. We had a carpeted entry way that at the half-way point had a fire pit and seating to enjoy the night with fellow travelers. The Moroccan tangine dinner was excellent as was the service. Plenty of choice foods for breakfast as well. The nightly entertainment was a 5 member Moroccan group that played a variety of drums, symbols and sang a number of fast-paced songs. The highlight is a camel ride at dusk, a stroll into the Sahara dunes for photography and, if you’re up to it, a pre-dawn walk to the top of some dunes to be there for the sunrise. All drop dead gorgeous. Although the camel ride was short, 15 to 20 minutes out and back, it was enough. There were plenty of staff to take care of any need. If you can manage it, this is a great camp to experience.

A fantasy. They picked us up in the 4x4 in Erfoud and we began to enter the Dunes through the Dakar Tracks. The super fun drivers with good music in the car gave us explanations along the way. We stopped at a Riad to have tea and continued to the Dunes to watch the sunset on Dromedario's back. Back in the 4x4 we arrived at the camp and were welcomed with music, nuts, pasta, tea and orange juice. After a few dances we settled into our haimas. Beautifully decorated, with comfortable beds, air conditioning, full bathroom with hot water (3 of us showered) and plenty of amenities. Dinner (couscous, chicken tagine) was very delicious, followed by a fabulous time in the heat of the fire contemplating the stars. The next morning we got up early and walked up to the nearest Dune to see the sunrise. Very rich buffet breakfast and return in the 4x4 with a good adventure through the Dunes. The wonderful staff, the spectacular and well-kept place. Looking forward to returning.

I went with my partner in March 2024 and we stayed two nights. The treatment of the staff was delicious, highlighting Mohamed and Yusuf for making us feel so good and being attentive to every detail. We loved the dunes and the comfort of the tent. The food was extraordinary and plentiful and our room was decorated with taste and quality. We were able to dine by the fire and enjoy local music while the sun disappeared behind the dunes. A true delight. We will be back

The service and hospitality at the Merzouga Desert Camp was impeccable. Enjoyed the camel ride into the sunset. The sumptuous vegan dinner and breakfast they prepared especially for us, and the after dinner folk music entertainment. Our camp room was inviting and had all the needed amenities. Thank you for a memorable stay

An absolutely incredible stay at the Merzouga desert camp. We stayed just one night and it was magical. We reached in the late afternoon, and after a welcome of Moroccan tea and cookies, we went to our tents to leave our stuff and get ready for a camel ride and seeing the sunset sitting on a dune in the midst of the Sahara desert! Our tents were gorgeous - heated, an extremely comfortable king size bed and the best pillows. Considering it was in the middle of the desert, we had a very nice bathroom with a rain shower. We had the best sleep that night in the desert!
The evening dinner was delicious - Moroccan soup followed by Chicken tagging and couscous . Dinner was followed by hearing some amazing music by the fireside. The next morning we went for a walk in the dunes with our guide to watch the sunrise. This was followed by a delicious traditional breakfast and then we were on our way to Marrakech. We did stop at a Gnawa village on our way and heard some incredible music and traditional dance again. Highly, highly recommend the entire experience at Merzouga camp.

We had wine. All wine in Morocco is French and Spanish. All are medium priced.
We did not have cocktails in Morocco.
They serve a set meal for dinner. and a choice of mains.
As most places do in Morocco.
Main choices are mostly:
Fish
Lamb
Vegetarian
I do not think they would mind if you brought your own wine, They are very lo key calm people. But I would ask first.
One suggestion: Make sure you go on the camel ride for the sunset and sunrise.
It is spectacular.
I do not recall how much the wine is, but it is not expensive, in my opinion.
Cheers
There are more places to choose from in the Erg Chebbi area.
