This is my 6th time in Barbados but first time staying at Mango Bay… it definitely won’t be my last. From the moment we arrived (fairly late on the BA flight from Gatwick) we were warmly greeted with the offer of Rum or Fruit punch, we were run through the basics & asked if we wanted to have dinner. Explaining we were so tired the reception called through to the restaurant offering us sandwiches instead. They also said we could fill in the paperwork the following morning so us we could relax (these little extra touches we’re offered to us throughout our stay by a variety of staff) We had booked a Superior Pool view room but pleasantly surprised got upgraded to an Ocean Front Room - Just Wow! The room was large bright & airey… some of the people we met did mention that some of the rooms had yet to be updated however I can’t comment as ours was lovely. The actual hotel is not massive which makes it easy to recognise & remember the names of a lot of the staff. Dale, Ronald & Rayden at the beach bar we’re brilliant - the banana daiquiris delicious And you can’t help but smile & laugh along with Damien & his odd socks Eshan & Damon along with all the guys on the beach towels & watersports shack we’re great, lending our snorkelling equipment, which I used multiple times and canoe too. We also took advantage of the free catamaran trip (goes out Wednesdays & Saturdays) which you need to book at reception. There is only 1 restaurant but it’s a la carte so we didn’t have the same thing twice while we were there (8 days) there was 1 night Italian buffet which was tasty. If you don’t want 3 courses for lunch you can eat from the smaller bar snacks, we tried the fish bites, cheeseburger, toasted Sandwiches & Samosa, all were great - however the samosa was cold in the centre but we let the waiter know. The rooms were cleaned every day- I know this is usual but I had read on trip advisor people complaining, we had no need too. They also surprised us we’re Champagne & petals on our bed as it was our honeymoon. The only negative is if you want a sunbed on the beach you do need to be there by 8.30… there are sun beds available later but you won’t be at the front nearest the sea… the beach guys will do there best though in securing you a space. This is Barbados so everything is chilled which is what we were there for… great staff great hotel & great weather

This hotel was fantastic from the position, is amazing very central, our room was very big and clean , housekeeping was excellent, food was much more than I expected from a all inclusive the staff could not do enough for you nothing was too much trouble , if you wanted something slightly different from on menu they were accommodating ,as for the waiting staff who kept us topped up with gorgeous cocktails as we lay in the sun they were all so friendly with fabulous smiles they must all enjoy working for this hotel seemed like a big family. Would definitely go back

Stayed 8 days at Mango Bay for our first visit to Barbados and first all-inclusive experience anywhere.. Went with another couple and stayed in 2 of the condo units next door. Condos were very comfortable with king-size bed. Appreciated the extra room and more than adequate closet space, nice bathroom and shower. The resort was lovely and we enjoyed every meal. Loved all the fresh fish and healthy vegies and salads. Drinks were excellent with nice wine selections and tropical drinks. Staff were helpful and friendly. Loved the beach and snorkeling right off the beach. Saw lots of varieties of fish and the highlight was the group of 8 Manta Rays that swam right below me. Only downside was that it got a bit windy our last 2 days so the visibility was not good. We enjoyed the nightly entertainment and were not bothered by any excessive noise. Overall we were very happy with our stay at Mango Bay and would not hesitate to return.

My wife and have been going to Barbados since the 1980s, including multiple trips to Mango Bay. However, our last visit towards the end of 2022 has more or less put us off re-booking, and this is a true reflection of our two week stay. The first disappointment was the room allocation, which found us in a dingy ground floor 'apartment' of the mini condos which adjoins the main hotel. No welcome back card and bottle of bubbly this time, as in other years. The furniture ranged from the laughable to downright dangerous. A sofa bed sat askew near a 'coffee table' which consisted of a three foot diameter circular piece of pure plate glass which, unbelievably, wobbled completely unfixed on top of a three legged wooden base - an accident waiting to happen if ever there was one! There was very little wardrobe space for a 14-day stay, but probably worst of all was the double bed mattress, which had formed itself into a semi 'v' shape. We made reception aware of this after the first night and were assured a replacement would be supplied immediately. 13 nights later were were trying to sleep uncomfortably on the same bed. The owners have built a new restaurant right alongside the condos, which has only added to the noise already generated by nearby bars. Perhaps the money could have been used to upgrade the hotel accommodation. The food, apart from the usual excellent breakfast buffet, disappointed, being very repetitive. For the first time, we opted on too many days for burgers, club sandwiches, hot dogs etc at lunchtime. One can only eat so much chicken, fish and bread pudding. We were offered steak once, and my wife actually requested that great Bajan staple Macaroni Pie on the ninth day, having been nowhere to be seen before that. The waiting and bar staff were generally polite, but there was an obvious turnover since last year with lots of new faces. Drinks were the usual inferior spirits, although the cocktails, wine and Banks beer were fine. Soft drinks were poured over a heap of ice! We were unable to enter the sea on seven occasions due to yellow and red flags being flown. The shelf on entering the ocean seems to be getting steeper, and a rope has been provided, perhaps particularly aimed at older guests, for hauling oneself back on to the beach, In comparison, fast forward a few weeks and we had a seven-day break in a four star Tenerife hotel, which in all aspects was so much superior to Mango Bay, and at 50 per cent of the cost. Facilities such as self-service beer, Prosecco and sodas (minus the glass full of ice!) breakfast coffee provided in proper pots, heated swimming pool, and a host of other guest-friendly services truly highlighted the chasm between the two places.

Went over christmas period, beautiful position on the beach, noisy most nights, food average at most, way overpriced. Had fun trying to work out the electrics, most nights entertainment average at best. New years eve brilliant, will not go back as not worth the money

We had a fantastic time at Mango Bay and will definitely be back. The review below is based on me and my partner staying for 11 nights late Nov/early December. Check in – We arrived just after 8pm after a long day and as soon as we arrived were offered a drink (lovely, chilled rum punch!). I have read other reviews to say the check in process is a bit long and not what is needed after a long journey. However, the lady who checked us in just went through a couple of things with us and said we could read the rest of the forms and return them signed to them the following day. Therefore, we were in our room very quickly. Also, she had booked a dinner table for us for that evening. A very easy, quick and smooth check in which was what was needed a long day! Room – We were lucky enough to get upgraded to an Ocean view room! The bedroom was spacious with a huge bed and was nice and clean. The bathroom was OK, but it is a bit tired and does need a bit of TLC. The room had a safe which, was free to use, and an iron and ironing board and plenty of hangers. The view from the room was great especially early evening when the sun was going down! As has been said on other reviews the standard rooms do overlook some bars and restaurants and you will get noise from these as the music is loud! Therefore, don’t book a standard room if you are light sleeper! Beach - The beach and the sea are what really makes this hotel for me. The beach is kept very clean and is beautiful, and the sea was a lovely clear turquoise colour and a nice temperature to swim in. Most days we could find sun beds but a couple of days we couldn’t, so we went to the pool (see below). When you check in at the hotel one of the docs they give you states the hotel has a strict no sun bed reservation policy and it will be enforced. Sadly, it is not! This is something the hotel management needs to sort out. There are also water sport activities offered by the hotel. Pool – The pool area was nice and very peaceful as no one really uses it! This is because nearly everyone uses the beach during the day. As a result of this it was never a problem to get a sun bed if the beach ones were full. Even on a couple of days when the sea was too rough to go in the pool was still quiet as everyone still stayed on the beach and just wondered up to the pool for a swim. Food – I had read a lot of reviews about the food at Mango Bay and wasn’t sure what to expect. The food was excellent overall. The breakfast was always buffet style and plenty of choices from cereal to pastries to hot food and an egg station. Lunch and dinner were mainly a la carte but also buffet style of a couple of days. The a la carte menu was 4 courses (starter, mains, dessert and a cheeseboard). We both preferred the al carte food as this was always a lot nice then the buffet food. On the al carte menu there was normally 3 or 4 choices per course to choose from. There was beach service so you could order drinks on the beach and if you didn’t want to go to the restaurant for lunch you could order food on the beach which was OK. I found the beach service was a bit hit and miss. There was also tea, sandwiches and cake available in the afternoons! I have read reviews about the portion sizes and on a couple of occasion I could see why. However, when you can have as much as you like for breakfast and then have 4 courses for lunch and dinner, we never went to bed hungry! My one complaint about the restaurant was the booking system. You have to book a time slot for lunch and dinner and they ask you to do this when you go for breakfast. However, if you miss breakfast or get down late then you will struggle to get a decent time slot. This did not bother us as we were happy having a later lunch and dinner but I can understand it causing frustration for some. Also, even though you had booked your slot you could sometimes turn up and there was a queue as they were running behind. This is something the hotel management need to look at. Staff – Most of the staff we came across we very friendly and courteous and made you feel welcomed (Maria and Jamal are a couple of names I remember). I got the impression that the hotel is understaffed which is why I think they were sometimes running behind at lunch and dinner. Also, service was sometimes a bit slow as a result of this. There were a couple of staff that gave you the impression they didn’t want to be there but you get this in most hotels. Bar – The beer is the local Banks beer which was fine. The cocktails were very nice (and strong!) and we both found the red and white wines that were available at lunch and dinner were decent quality. If you wanted a cocktail that was not on the menu just ask the bar staff and they will make it. Also branded drinks and mixers available if you ask. Entertainment – There was a live act on every evening and often 2 acts (one early evening and one from 8pm). This usually went on to about 10.45pm and varied every evening and helped make the evenings really enjoyable. Something else the hotel offer is a free catamaran journey up the west coast which is really worth a couple hours of your time (the captain points out all the rich people’s houses). Cleanliness – The hotel work very hard to keep the grounds, beach and whole area very clean. Wifi – Wifi works all over the hotel and on the beach. Decent speed and no issues with it at all. Location – The hotel is right on the beach so great location. Holetown is a 5 mins walk away with quite a few shops (including a high-end luxury shopping centre). Not a big town but you have most shops there that you would need. You can also get buses to all over the island (Bridgetown, Oistins etc) from the town (try the yellow reggae buses!). A bit of a long review and I don’t normally go into this much detail when I do hotel reviews. However, having read a few of the recent reviews I felt they were being a bit harsh so wanted to give another view. I would 100% recommend Mango Bay if you have a young family or are a couple. If you are younger and want more of a ‘lively’ holiday then this hotel is not for you in my opinion. Me and my partner are already planning our next visit!

We spent a week at Mango Bay in September, The location was perfect. Walking distance to lots of restaurants, shopping, and grocery store in Holetown. The beach was long and beautiful with calm waters. Check in was just okay. We were not met with cool towels like other resorts. We booked a pool side superior room. The room was basic and quiet. We were on the second floor. The bathroom was strange w/ a pedestal sink and not enough counter space. The toiletries- shampoo, conditioner, body wash was inside ceramic containers which was hard to get out and not really functional for taking in the shower. The food was good but got tiresome as there was only one restaurant. The drinks were okay but they ran out of some liquor and mainly well choices. The service was subpar. We tried to book massages at the spa but it was never open. The dive hut where you get towels and the staff whom set up the beach chairs and umbrellas was interesting. The hut is a broke down shack and the individuals who work in it reek of marijuana. The hut is right beside the river, which for unknowing travelers to this hotel, smells and when it rains dumps brown smelly water into the ocean right in front of the resort, making it un-swimmable. We spent one day going to the resorts sister hotel The Sands, this property was more updated and we wish we had booked it instead. We would never stay at Mango Bay again.

We arrived at Mango Bay straight from a Tui cruise on 11th December. As I suffer from a heart condition, a ground floor room was requested. Where did they put us? top floor (No lift). We asked the management for a relocation. They said that they would look into it, but they never had the curtesy to come back to us. I struggled up 4 flights of stairs daily which caught up with me and I spent our last day confined to bed with shortage of breath. There seems to be a major lack of communication. It appears that Tui guests are all allocated rooms in the block that is sandwiched between the road containing the local bar and the night clubs. Sunday night has loud karaoke music coming from the bar until the early hours and Friday night has both the bar and night clubs in full swing, again until the early hours of the next morning. When we complained we were told that karaoke was only on a Sunday night, which was technically true, they didn't mention the DJ from the bar Friday night or the night club Friday and Saturday. Now the good points. The bar, restaurant, cleaning and beach staff are excellent and cannot do enough for you. The beach is very good and there are plenty of loungers. The rooms are large but quite basic for a 4 star hotel. The food was good with plenty of choice, although we preferred the buffet option over the table menus. Apart from the room issue, we enjoyed our stay at Mango Bay, but this review could have been 5 stars with a little effort from the management. We ourselves are hotel owners and reviewing another hotel is a tad tricky. Even though the resort is supposed to be 'all inclusive' we were stung with a levy / tax bill on departure which we were not made aware of by Tui. We were informed this was a Government tax, so be aware you may have to pay extra. Would we stay at Mango Bay again? Yes, but only with a ground floor pool or ocean view room in the main accommodation block which housed the reception, not the block we stayed in. Would we recommend Mango Bay? Yes, but only if you are either a) a party animal or b) Deaf.

Our group of 8 stayed at Mango Bay Dec 8-15. This was our second time going to Mango Bay. We had gone to MB in 2019 also. Here is my review broken down : (Thank you to hotel management for our bottle of wine and card, welcoming us back) Location: Located approximately 45 mins from airport. Absolutely stunning beach where we swam with stingrays, large tarpon fish and various other fish right by the corals to the left of the resort. The resort itself is small and intimate. Exactly what we we enjoyed and wanted. Grounds are kept very well by dedicated staff. As it is the holiday season, all decorations were displayed beautifully. Located just steps from the resort is Limegrove mall which has high end retailers and beautiful beach shops. To the right of Limegrove, there is a gas station with a Burger King and supermarket where you can stock up snacks for your room. A wee bit further from the supermarket are small shops which carry beautiful items. WEATHER : we only received one full day of tropical rain (so we shopped). The rest of the days and evening were beautiful. Days were hovering around 31-34 C and the evenings were usually around 25-26 C. Easy to burn within 10 mins. Bring lots of sunblock. Rooms : We stayed in the standard room which faced the busy street where events usually run from Thursday-Sunday at One Love bar (we had a blast!). The rooms have been refreshed with paint and newer furniture. All rooms have a balcony which was nice. Our balcony at 403 was directly beside a bougainvillea tree facing the front of the hotel. It was lovely to be greeted each day by numerous hummingbirds. On occasion, I had a small gecko saying hello. Air conditioning worked well. Lost of storage space in the closets and tables. The water pressure was one of my favourite things to look forward to after being out snorkelling. Plenty of hot water. The glass walled shower stall had water that did splash out to the floor but I kept this at bay with the bath mat provided. * mini bar and kettle were provided* Food : A mix of buffet and plated service; menu and food choices were lovely. Breakfast/Lunch is always a buffet while dinner was mostly plated with a la carte choices. If you want to experience other tastes, there are many local restaurants within a few steps or minutes away. Our group had no complaints. The husbands went on a private fishing charter and caught two large Wahoo fish (35 & 45 lbs). The Chef at the resort prepared the fish for one of dinners - the rest of the fish was given to the resort staff. She prepared it in three different ways and it was all fantastic. Thanks Chef ! * You can order lunch items from a menu while on the beach* Beach : Literally steps from your room. Sandy white beach against turquoise carribean waters. Absolutely our favourite. Special thanks to Macai who took care of our group every day and prepared our sun beds and umbrellas. Special thanks to the rest of the staff for working hard to keep everyone happy and fed on the beach. Waves were quite high for a few days (so we did wave crashing) but then the water was calm and beautiful to just stay in or snorkel. Absolutely breathtaking sunsets. Entertainment : Each night had a performer. Our favourites were Barry and Just Nature. Most performers stayed within the soft rock genre - top ten. I did not see any entertainment by staff on the beach during the day. Housekeeping : Daily cleaning of rooms with turn-down service if requested. Rooms were always pristine and very clean. Special thanks to Maxine who made sure my bath mats were by each side of the bed so I could wipe my feet before getting into bed. Miss you, Maxine ! Staff : Once again, the staff at MB did not disappoint. In fact, they were all stellar ! They make you feel at home and welcomed. Always a smile to greet you. Tours : Various tours are available upon request. Front desk will provide you with this information when you check in. Our group decided on a tour of Barbados where we saw historic landmarks and then headed to Bridgetown for shopping on the strip. Thank you Jade (not with hotel but he's on the beach) who coordinated our private driver. The resort also provides a free catamaran boat ride on certain days. OVERALL : We love Barbados and are grateful to Mango Bay for showing us the beauty of the people, culture and cuisine. Special thanks again to Marcia (Mgr), Maria and Chef at the restaurant, Macai (Beach) , security officers and all the other staff ! We miss you all already and will be back! TIP : Tips go a long way to show appreciation. Although it is not requested or mandatory, small tokens of thanks and kindness are appreciated by staff that are certainly deserving.
