The Club Barbados Resort & Spa enjoys an enviable west coast location, frequently commended for its proximity to local attractions and pristine beaches. While the resort's cleanliness and the friendliness of its staff are often highlighted positively, some guests feel that the value proposition is diminished by limited dining options and extra charges.
The accommodations boast cleanliness and scenic views, yet there's a notable call for updates and better maintenance. Amenities offer some satisfaction, particularly the water sports, but the hotel's atmosphere and entertainment are described as lacking in vibrancy, suggesting room for improvement in the overall guest experience.

Detailed Reviews
This hotel is lovely and there is lots for everyone to do for all ages. We enjoyed the aqua aerobics and volley ball games in the pool each day. We also enjoyed playing pool and table tennis, however, due to the virus, the hotel did limit the number of activities including taking away the pool cues and table tennis bats.
We also all enjoyed the watersports at the hotel which were included as part of the package. The water skiing and sailing were great. With the watersports you book them each morning at the watersports hut. From experience the sea conditions for the motorised watersports were better in the morning so would recommend booking a morning slot if it’s available. Also motorised watersports don’t run on a Sunday.
The food at the hotel was lovely, a great array of choice to suit everyone’s needs. Breakfast included all the full English bits, cereals, pancakes, fruit and pastries. Lunch was either buffet or order from the small snack bar menu. Dinner at Enid’s was lovely and the buffet was also great. Again due to the virus the hotel did change all evening meals to buffet only in our stay. This wasn’t a problem to us and the hygiene level was great with all guests hand sanitising before entering the restaurant and staff were wearing gloves.
The pool area was lovely with very comfortable sun beds. We did not notice a rush to put towels out, we tended to put them down on our way to breakfast about 7:30/8:00. After we had finished breakfast though lots of beds had been reserved by the pool, although the beach and grass area had free beds all day.
The rooms were small and basic but had everything we needed. We did not spend much time in the room so it was suitable for us.
We did book some excursions to swim with the turtles and snorkel in the clear blue waters which were fantastic, would thoroughly recommend them.
My only minor points are that bottled water is not included in the all inclusive package but they do have water stations around the hotel to fill up bottles so a tip is to bring some bottles with you. Also there is tea and coffee available but during the day but this is help yourself in a paper cup. We are all for the paper cups but for a 4 star hotel I would sometimes to expect it to be in a proper cup/mug. These are very minor picky points and certainly would not stop me from returning to this great hotel which has fantastic staff.

Upon arrival we were herded into a room and filled in a registration form and disclaimer & we were informed about the mandatary $450.00 credit card autorisation. For the (not inclusive) room tax of £9/night. Room was not available and informed evening meal was at 8.30pm. Waited 1 hour for room. Introduction at 9.45am. zero information about hotel in room or any given upon your arrival.
Breakfast is self service once waited to be seated. Good selection but luke warm. TIP! order coffee from the bar. Some staff not very welcoming or attentive without tipping. The inclusive fishing trips which attracted me to the hotel was unavailable. All booked up until day 8 of my 7 day holiday. Tui rep managed to get a slot. Not fully booked but simply wanted to avoid offering this service. The trip was 1 hr with a kids style line and hook. POOR.
Room adequate but not 4 star. It was clean but TV reception poor, Noisy leaky fridge, dated bathroom fixtures. Lack of cushions on chairs, no light switches for lamps, badly fitted external door that lets sound/light in from service area. Basic. Nice view of pool and quiet after 11pm.
Book to Eat in any restaurant in eve so as well as the sunbed lottery you have the restaurant lottery.
Found lots of things hidden items available but never offered. Very tranquil with no water sport disturbance close to reefs and wreck where the tours go to snorkel, so don't pay to be taken back to your own hotel!
VERY AVERAGE.

Dear Valued Guests, Thank you for taking the time to share your holiday experience, and we sincerely thank you for considering The Club Barbados Resort & Spa. It comes as a delight to learn you enjoyed your holiday overall with us; it saddens us to hear you experienced some shortcomings. It is disheartening if you felt our service fell short of your expectations, as our friendly and efficient team typically receives many high remarks about the attentiveness they consistently display. We remain respectful of the opinions you have expressed, and we only hope to be granted an opportunity to host you again in the future for a visit that we trust will be an enhanced Caribbean holiday experience. Best regards, The Club, Barbados Resort & Spa Staff & Management

Stayed here after a weeks cruise. First time in Barbados. First impressions were good, nice and clean and a stress free check in. I don’t think you could get a better location. You have Holetown about a 15minute walk on the beach, or the main road. Bell boy Chad took our bags to room 425 on the top floor. There isn’t any lifts, but this wasn’t a problem to us, but would be for those who have mobility problems. Our room was lovely and big with a great view over the pools and gardens. There was WiFi in the restaurant which was pretty decent, but if you wanted WiFi in your room and all over the hotel, there was a supplement of $50 per week. A/C was probably the best I’ve known in any hotel anywhere in the world. The staff are all so nice and nothing is too much trouble for them, they’re a real credit to this great hotel. Food was great. As an early riser, I was pleased to see you can get a coffee in the main bar from 5am which was right up
my street. Breakfast is buffet with your normal fare, lunch was also buffet, or smash and grab as Mike Justice described it. Dinner was waiter/waitress service at a real high standard. All the bar staff have extensive knowledge of anything cocktail and make anything that flicks your switch. Ours was the mud slide with extra mud! (Chocolate). The beach to the left is Sandy Lane and loved walk this beach every morning after breakfast. This beach has all manner of water sports at a supplement. But, if you go right, to the hotel water sports hut, this is all free of charge which I thought was a really nice touch. Water skiing, speed boat rides and sail boat rides, all free. There’s a couple of guy that walk the beach touting for business, ie, water sports and private tours, in previous reviews it’s been said that you can’t trust these guy, but you can take it from me you can trust them with you life, especially Steve, the short slim guy with the gift of the gab, he was a great guy who we hired for the day to take us around the island. We got to know Steve quite well over the week and really got on! I would recommend this hotel to anyone. So much so, we’ve booked to go again next year.

Having been to Barbados many times before I have a great affection for the island and it’s people. But having now stayed at the Club Barbados, it is extremely unlikely I will be returning.
Some of the staff seem to take pleasure in being evasive and some are downright rude.
While the promotion photos appear to show the hotel has a beach front - this is not the case. In fact it has no frontal beach.
Meal times are catastrophic, and a simple 3 course meal can take up to 2 hours. With diners left alone for 30 minutes before their order is taken.
Guests who use this hotel must also lodge a $350 bond at reception when booking in. (Proving other guests were not happy with this hotel I the past)
The Barbados government has levied a tourist tax and if your tour operator has informed you that you will be paying $5.50 per room per night - be prepared to pay almost double this rate.
Visiting this hotel proves that everyone travelling anywhere must read the independent reviews and not the tourist companies brochures/web site before they book.

Regarding the Review “Cleanliness” you are not staying in a Five Star Resort, if you want than go and pay Sandy Lane Prices. The Bar is frequently used and is only a beach bar, there is the Sunset Bar that you could go and use. The staff try very hard with sometimes limited facilities, though they are improving The Club all the time. I have been going for many years even when it was The Almond Beach, I have found Durwin (not Darwin) to be very professional, kind and friendly when having to deal with clients at the hotel, some nice and others more demanding. Keep doing the wonderful job you do, you are very much appreciated by many Durwin and the other staff are. They work very hard to make everyone’s holiday enjoyable.

Our first time in Barbados, I chose The Club because it looked traditional. If you want bling and modern, it’s not the place for you. The rooms were large and kept exceptionally clean. Although we did feel for the cleaners having to clean the top floors as no lift, but it saved us visiting the gym.... we had a view of the sea. And although our room was close to the main road, once inside you would struggle to hear it.
The food was excellent in both restaurants, and often dinner in the buffet restaurant was a la carte. The staff in the restaurants were very friendly, although with some you had to break through their reserve. We could laugh and joke with them and it was all good fun. The bar staff were the same, very chatty and friendly. The staff some evenings also joined in with the dancing with the guests (particularly with soaker music) at the hotel, everyone seemed to be enjoying this interaction.
At first, we were disconcerted as it was not directly on a beach, but it was only a few steps down to the beach (shared with Sandy Lane). And it was great watching the crabs on the rocks.
The entertainment was low key which was great, local bands and singers, all excellent. Drinks were really good too.
Boat rides along the coast, water skiing, paddle boards, canoes, hoby cats were all free. And the staff there were great too.

Stayed at The Club in January 2022. Precautions were in place to stop the spread of the virus and everyone seemed to be complying.
What made our stay so enjoyable was the staff. They were really friendly and professional. Kim and Mia and all the staff in the restaurant were quick to provide glasses of cold, iced water and drinks from the bar and nothing seemed too much trouble. We could always find a menu choice to suit us whether it was ‘a la carte’ or buffet. Omelettes, eggs and french toast were cooked to order at breakfast and then there were carvery items, burgers and sandwiches to order at other times along with the extensive buffet. Latoya prepared lovely coffees and the bar staff worked so hard at busy times. We couldn’t fault them. The
The setting of The Club is ideal. Walking distance to Holetown both via beach and road although low tide is best for the beach walk! We walked to the Lone Star restaurant a couple of times along the beach. In the other direction and about 5 minutes walk away is the Sandy Lane beach, again best when the tide is out. There is a good walk around the Sandy Lane golf course for exercise and monkey spotting!
The beach is accessed down steps and occasionally was rougher than the Sandy Lane beach or towards Holetown but a matter of looking at the flag and seeing how other people are managing to get in and out. As for the crabs we saw one or two occasionally in the distance as they scarpered away and certainly not a problem.
Several people had bought there own full face masks and snorkels and seemed to be enjoying snorkelling in the bay. Worth bringing sand shoes for the sea.
Water sports staff were great. Free motor boat trips up and down the coast, kayaking, paddle boarding and catamarans. Beach towels are exchanged at the water sports room, by the boats.
The entertainment we enjoyed most was the pianist, saxophonist, Shadia, Miguel and the girl duo.
The old age towels on sunbeds was a thing. First week it was very relaxed and not a problem but week two towels were on all the beachside sunbeds by 7am so we would have a long walk or excursion and then find sunbeds in the afternoon.
There were lots of returning guests and we would certainly return as we really enjoyed our holiday and it offers good value in a very expensive area. Sunsets were amazing!

We were booked for a 14 night stay. Almost as soon as we arrived we were worried. There seemed to be very few guests around. We asked to move rooms and this request was accomodated with no issues. It was one of very few positives to say about the place.
The new room was a 1 bedroom suite. The bedroom was gorgeous but the bathroom was simply awful. There was a tiny sink like one would find in a public toilet or powder room at home. Each side of the sink they had 2 shelves made out of clear perspex and attached to the wall with plain pieces of wood. Not what one would expect from a 4* hotel. The bathroom was a wetroom and set up for wheelchair access. There was rust marks running down the wall from some of the fitings in the shower area.
The majority of staff gave of an attutide that they couldn't care less. Simple requests took ages to arrive.
I have severe coeliac disease but the staff in the restaurant did not seem to understand what gluten was. I had to insist on speaking to the cook but this was with limited success.
Within 36 hours of arriving I began to be violently ill. I immeidately thought I had eaten gluten accidentlially. i had no choice but to stay in the room for most of the day and evening. It wasn't very long before myu husband also began to be very ill. It was then we realised it was food posioning. I contacted our travel agent and to our huge relief they liasied with the hotel and we were allowed to move to another hotel, albeit at extra cost. I had got quite friendly with one staff member and kept in contact with them after we left. They told me that another couple had also moved out due to food posioning around the same time as us. The staff member told us they had all been given 1 month's notice as the hotel was closing for a refurbishment at the end of June. I really hope that once they reopen they will employ staff who understand dietary needs and who have good customer service skills.
The hotel is advertised as being a beach front location. It is a waterfront location but there is no beach. There is a concrete area with sand covering it which overlooks the sea. It's possible to walk to Sandy Lane beach but this means no access to loungers, food or drinks. As stated previously, they are having a refit but this will have no impact on the fact there is no beach.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for choosing The Club Barbados Resort & Spa. Our guests' safety and well-being are of the highest significance. Please accept our heartfelt apologies if our resort could not accommodate all of your dietary needs. Our resort offers various meal choices, including fresh vegetables, salads, fruits, and grains. Our resorts have significant experience catering to a wide range of dietary needs. However, we cannot guarantee individually-tailored meals for guests with specialized diets or restrictions. Due to the all-inclusive nature of our resort, this practice has been intact since our doors opened. And to correct your false claim of advertising as a beachfront location. Our website theclubbarbados.com, clearly states, "Superbly located on the oceanfront of the Caribbean’s west coast, this tropical island resort will exceed all your preconceived notions of what luxury looks, smells, tastes, feels, and sounds like." It's pretty discouraging to read your review, and it saddens us to know that despite our best efforts, you would have returned home with a diminished opinion of our resort. On behalf of our Club Barbados Resort & Spa team, we sincerely hope you reconsider your decision and grant us another opportunity to provide you with an excellent, all-inclusive Caribbean holiday. Best regards, The Club, Barbados Resort & Spa Staff & Management

Our wedding
Prior to booking our trip we wanted to ensure that they had the available dates, so we called the 1800 number. The lady we connected with was in Florida. She confirmed with us that we could reserve March 29. We arrived March 26 and sought out the wedding coordinator who wasn't in until Monday. Monday arrives and Sophie had stated that there was a breakdown in communication and she hadn't received the paperwork. So we had to push our wedding date to the 31 to accommodate the plans that needed to be made (understandable!) As we also had to get our marriage license in town. We were told to bring our passports and birth certificate. When we arrived we were sent back to get our vaccine info, immigration papers, and our negative covid test. We went back and got the papers. Sophia felt HORRIBLE as we hit.multiple snags in our plans so she booked us a complimentary couples massage.
The day of went without a hitch. The presentation was beautiful and the ceremony was performed at sunset.
The resort and rooms
The resort was a quiet quaint place that you could seek out areas less populated if desired. The beach is a little small but there are areas walkable to sandy lane when the tide is low or up the road where you will find an entrance to a boardwalk that leads to beach areas. It is also close to a lot of amenities that are maybe a 10 minute walk maximum.
We paid for an ocean room and the sound of the ocean at night was serene. These aren't those luxurious rooms but they have a quaint warmth to them. The tap water is drinkable so it was more convenient than other places where you can only drink bottle water.
The cons:
Not many outlets in the rooms, difficult to find shade as many guests place their things on chairs and hold them for the day, there's stairs up to the rooms (if you have an injury or limitations be mindful for booking a higher level room)
Overall the staff were warm, welcoming, and accommodating. The locals are helpful and friendly. The food is among the best in the Caribbean.
The resort isn't the most modern or "fancy" but the beds are comfortable, rooms are clean, and the resort has a good atmosphere. The staff are very personable and kind people who enjoy interacting with the resort members! We plan to return again soon for sure.

+1
Marvellous experience from the beginning to end.
We cannot compliment The Club Barbados enough. All the staff were helpful friendly and accommodating, special mentions have to go out to the watersports lads Rawle, Sharad and Micheal, along with the beach bar staff Shane, Monifuh and Dakari, who were very attentive and worked tirelessly to make sure everyone was happy, also Vinny on Sunset bar who knew your drinks after a day or 2. All the sunset restaurant staff were brilliant at remembering our room numbers even with us wearing face masks!
The watersports were fantastic as we had taken 2 of our boys Ben and Matt and their girlfriends Annabel and Cat who used them endlessly. Rawle and Sharad were very helpful in teaching the boys to waterski and went above and beyond with all of us when we went on the sofa/kayaking and paddle boards.
Caroline the manager was always visible and very approachable, we even saw her picking litter from around the beach area.
The rooms were cleaned every other day and fresh beach towels are available everyday for exchange. The gardens and pool area were lovely and kept very clean and tidy.
The food was excellent in the sunset restaurant and Enid’s was also wonderful. A big thank you to Camilla who along with the kids arranged a surprise beach champagne celebration for our wedding anniversary.
Although there isn’t a sandy beach to sunbathe on ,just a short walk either way (tide dependant) you can sit on Sandy Lane beach or head towards Holetown.
If you fancy jet-skiing, glass bottom boat or a trip around the island, speak to Jade who is a local lad who plies his trade along the front and is a laugh a minute, tell him Matt the fisherman recommends using him.
Caroline please share this review with your staff, this was our 6th visit to Barbados and you and your staff have made our holiday one we will never forget. They are all a credit to Elite holidays.
.
Thanks to you all we will definitely be back, from Steve, Danielle, Matt(aka Bond and your fashion show male winner) Cat, Ben and Annabel.

We had no problem with the Wi-Fi at ground level. Possible problem on top floor
All beaches in Barbados are open to the public, no private beaches. At club Barbados they loan you towels and have loungers and umbrellas on their property near the water. They do not have a beach but stairs down to the water. You can walk next door with your towel
Hi , if you type laundry into the main review site then a post in June comes up and said no and nothing close by , although I guess there must be something in Holetown, some hotels will send laundry off site for you. There is an iron in rooms .
