The hotel Masl is an excellent 4star Hotel in the small skiing resort town of Vals/Meransen South Tyrol. It is a family owned hotel that I have known since the 1980‘s and has kept it’s very personal family atmosphere while undergoing massive modernization of it’s rooms, the entire public areas and it’s in the meantime very expansive wellness area that includes an outdoor sauna and multiple indoor saunas. Apart from the extremely personal atmosphere created by the Messner family, what struck me was the friendliness towards small children that is reflected by plenty of families with small children, and by huge indoor playground and indoor children’s pool! There is a lot of attention given to small details, such as charging stations for electric vehicles, a ski locker for each room, and very charming, modern guest rooms that still provide alpine charme. The dinner menus were excellent and the breakfast is huge AND delicious. The hotel also has a very inviting bar for afternoon cake or pre- and after-dinner cocktails. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. All in all a fantastic experience!

A Hotel as a hotel should be, correct and friendly staff, modern and new hotel, great rooms (we had family room) clean. Fine dinner and wine list. Breakfast also very good, many choices. Ski in and ski out. Ans car in garage, all included in the price which is acceptable for the service.

We stayed in Hotel Masl for ten days in August 2018. It is a lovely and cozy family hotel in a beautiful location. The staff is very helpful and friendly; food is varied, healthy and very tasty; the amnesties are good. The location in Vals is perfect for hiking and sightseeing. The complimentary ‘Almencard’ provides access to most museums and lifts in the area (eg the ‘Oetzi’ Museum in Bolzano.

Only remarks would be that the pool can be a little crowded during ‘rush hour’ between 5 and 6 in the afternoon and the gym is quite small.

Overall a wonderful stay. We’ll be back. :)

I have to say that this was one of the best hotels that we ever stayed at. The location of the hotel in Valles is excellent as it is very close to a ski lift, which means that if you want to go skiing you don´t need a car at all. The hotel by itself is beautiful and clean. We stayed in the new part of the hotel which was finished at 2013 and the furnishing was like new with top notch finishings. We also enjoyed the wellness, especially the part of the swimming pool which is outside. We made the reservation incl. half board and we were happy that we did it, because breakfasts and dinners were fantastic as well.

We must say this is so far the best Hotel we have been: second time and second beautiful stay.
All your requirement are satisfied at the "Masl": wellness area, big and nice family rooms, staff, service, food......what to say.... all this surrounded by a unique landscape.
Families are welcome and children can find at any time how to have fun.
We highly recommend it.

It is a quite big hotel which makes service less personal than we are used to in family owned and operated hotels in the Dolomites. Our room was very small for a family of three, noisy because hotel is at a busy street with traffic all night long. Dining rooms have no atmosphere, are brightly lit and food of only average quality. Service is attentive though. Nice wellness/pool area and facilities for smaller kids. Wifi is free but very unreliable. I wouldn't go back as value for money isn't there, particularly compared to other 4 star hotels in the area.

Response from hotelmasl, Inhaber at Hotel Masl
Responded Jan 5, 2015
Dear guest, Thank you very much for your review. We are glad you appreciated our pool and wellness area and the service. At the same time we regret that you did not really enjoy your holiday and that you will not come back. We are sorry that just after your arrival the free-Wifi wasn't working efficiently, but than the problem was solved and the connection high-speed as usual. Our hotel has 55 rooms and some of them are looking street side. This country-street conduces to our 500-people village called Valles and is in any case not a transit street. Concerning the food we certainly know that tastes can be very different. Please allow us to stress that our chefs use high quality and locally sourced products and that food is generally one of the most appreciated things of our hotel. Best regards, Thomas Messner and family

We come here now for years since our kids were babies. Allthough the hotel has expanded a lot, it has not lost its family character and each time it feels like coming home. Excellent Italian kitchen with a Tyrolean flavour and reasonable prices for the wines. Choice between 3 main dishes including vegetarian option. Breakfast is in buffet format and everything is available. You can order different egg preparations fresh from the kitchen.
Children are most welcome in this hotel with their own activity pool and play rooms adapted to your child's age (also teenagers are well thought off). The new pool and relax area is great with the possibility to swim outside. Excellent price/quality hotel!

Not knowing what to expect when my girlfriends parents booked our New Year's holiday in Italy, I must say Hotel Masl was quite impressive. This family run boutique hotel is right at the foot of the Gitschberg/Jochtal ski resort which provided such convenience for rolling out of bed each morning to an excellent breakfast, all smiles from the staff, then literally crossing the street to take the rope tow up to the gondola. We stayed for 7 days/nights and everyday the staff was exquisitely friendly and pleasant to be around. I would especially like to thank Pavel as well as the female owner of the hotel for their hospitality. I work for Marriott Hotels so I can be especially critical when staying places other than Marriott's, so I must say I was truly impressed by this hotel in every way - BRAVO! I could only be so lucky to have another opportunity to stay at Hotel Masl again in my life!

Buona vacanza!
