I would unreservedly recommend a stay at the UGA research station at San Luis. The location is stunning, the enthusiasm to sustain the amazing bioidiversity of the cloud forest and the different habitats of Costa Rica is infectious. The Research director in particular is passionate about the work of the centre and the importance of maintaining and the further developing...

I stayed at UGA campus with my daughter (12 ) and we both loved it. Hanging in the mountains, you can really discover the forest and its inhabitants! Everyone is relax, friendly, and ready to bring you the best experience. Have typical food lunch with the students, have dinner with a family, play soccer with them, discover Brad's moth walls,...

We booked Cabina 1 for two weeks and were amazed by everything and everyone! Every day was amazing. We will be back. UGA is an experience not to be missed. The staff, volunteers, naturalists and even the founders themselves were outstanding!!! We will be back and would happily spend a month here in this beautiful special place if we could!...

We stayed at the UGACR Ecolodge in San Luis for three nights in July. San Luis is about 20-25 minutes outside Monteverde. We had a rental car but if you're taking the bus to Monteverde/Santa Elena, we're told that it's about a $15 cab ride. The vistas on the drive between Monteverde and San Luis are spectacular. This part of...

The Ecolodge San Luis is an excellent way to fully enjoy and experience the Costa Rican rainforest. On the grounds of the UGA Campus one can take in all the breathtaking sights of the landscape, with incredible rolling hills, lush forests, a beautiful botanical and medical garden that hosts more than just a variety of local flowers, plants and trees...

Have you ever wanted to visit a country and wished you had a friend living there who could honestly guide you to experience the area from a local's viewpoint? From initial contact, to the moment we left, the friendly and knowledgeable local staff, naturalists, and interns were exceedingly helpful and willing to share tips. If you're like me and don't...

Loved all the opportunity to ask questions, explore, and begin to understand Costa Rica through a personalized experience. The UGA Ecolodge is fairly remote, but plan to interact with others. I'd suggest taking advantage of all the guides and organized tours. Loved the night hike in the rain and the coffee tour. Get up early as the staff will tell...

My 1 night stay ended up lasting 4 nights, needless to say it was because of the nice place that it is. Very friendly & helpful people, interesting walks and talks, and lots to see and do. The only thing I needed to get used to was the dining hall, especially since there were large groups of (young) students there,...

Spent 10 days on campus. The rooms are basic, with bunk beds and basic bedding/mattresses. Some bungalows do have wifi, some do not. The food is delicious and who can say no to locally grown organic coffee. Also the hot chocolate made with fresh milk is to die for. The real treat in my opinion are the naturalists who work...

Went to the Ecolodge with my family for 3 nights. (The road getting to the Ecolodge is very long and bumpy if you aren't coming from the Santa Elena area!) The naturalists at the Ecolodge helped us plan what we were going to do each day that we were there and they were so helpful! The food there was authentic...
