When this hotel was booked for my family by Horizontes, I did my homework. I read the reviews about the steep walkway to rooms, cold/noisy bathrooms, inadequate breakfast, and distance from town. Well, I guess it depends on what you are looking for. We were there to experience the cloud forest, and this hotel is perfect for that. We travel...

We just checked in about an hour ago so cannot comment on food as yet. It is so perfect I am surprised at all the negative comments. It seems people were looking for bars, action, some noise, all the reasons I would search this setting out, peaceful and quiet. I am sitting in my room looking at the forest with...

This hotel is very far from town, you will need a car to eat anywhere other than their restaurant. My husband and I stayed for two nights. The rooms are clean and acceptable but don't have a safe for valuables. It doesn't have a pool or common areas to relax outdoors. Breakfast was poor, I got pancakes form the buffet...

I am sorry that you were isolated and boring at our hotel. We are located 3 miles from town and as most of the hotels in the area you need transportation to have dinner outside the properties. Only two hotels in Monteverde have pools, next time you should review more and book the hotel that can suit all your needs....

Visited at the end of December. Hotel lobby staff were friendly and gave good advice. Restaurant food was very good, wait staff spoke basic English and had fun as we tried our Spanish. Happy hour was nice bonus. Breakfast was typical Costa Rica spread, very hearty for a day of hiking. Rooms were clean although cool, but we understood we...

The hotel is very nice and well maintained. The food at the restaurant was very good. The staff is pleasant. We celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary and after my husband asked, the staff had flowers and cake waiting in our room and towels folded into swans with fresh flowers to decorate cut from their gardens. This place is a...

This was the least favourite of the hotels that we stayed in on our recent tour of Cost Rica. The setting is lovely close to the Cloud Forest national park and with good views across towards Monte Verde. The Staff were friendly and tried hard to please. The food was OK but not amazing. The trouble was it was cold especially...

Thanks for your comments. We are very sorry you did not like our hotel. As we are an environmentally friendly hotel in order to reduce waste we use soap dispensers as well as low flow shower heads to conserve water. We will have an new pathway to get to the mountain suites in May. These rooms are built in a...

One of our strengths is our location in the middle of the cloud forest. We are only two and a half miles from Santa Elena, so sorry we could not please you with the distance from our hotel to town, but thank you very much for your comments.

High up in the Mountains, last stop before the forest, wonderful view of Monteverde, lies the Trapp Family lodge. Far walk from town, downhill though, but back would be a hike. Taxis are common, so no worries. However, the restaurant here is very good and worth the hang time. The rooms are spacious and clean. Wifi is everywhere.

This was our least favorite place in Costa Rica. There is nothing obviously wrong with it, but it is not well designed. The cabins are very large, cold with an illogical entry way. The main building is centered on the bar. The restaurant has the charm of mid level chain restaurant, it feels a little cold and lonely. I also...

I think you can find a better and more comforteble place in Monteverde. However the staff is very friendly and the kitchen is oke. The rooms are old, and not nice, however big. Not any possibility to sit outside. This was our lowest rated Hotel during our tripp through Costa Rica with six friends in three weeks. Xxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx
