We were told that this lodge was closest to the entrance to the National Park. That may be true, but not the entrance that any of the organised tours or walks use! In fact, the lodge is the farthest from the local town and a US$6 taxi each way up an unmade road. That said, the lodge has comfortable rooms,...

Pros: Located close to the Monteverde Cloud Forest (<5 min), friendly staff, decent breakfast, large rooms with nice views. Cons: Bathrooms were odiferous and not especially clean, lots of light from the hallway and thin walls made sleep difficult, no heat, floors were slippery. I wanted to love the Trapp Lodge, I really did. It had a nice charm, with...

We stayed in a Mountain Suite. It was nice and clean and with a great view to the cloud forrest. It is a rater steep way up to the Mountain Suite, but it is worth it. But if you have problems walking, so not choose the Mountain Suite. The staff at the reception seemed quiet indifferent. Sometimes you felt like...

We picked this because of the location. The rooms, the common areas and the staff were all fine, but nothing special. Several of the staff were very friendly and welcoming, but others were indifferent to us. We did enjoy the walk down the road to the Monteverde reserve several times and that was reason enough to stay there. If your...

I hate to be picky. This was a very attractive lodge, both in the lobby/dining room area and also the rooms. They were large, clean, and had comfortable beds. The picture window added a nice touch, even if the view wasn't anything to write home about. The problem was, there was no heat and at night time the place could...

TFL is a reasonably comfortable hotel but every part of it is just adds up to average. We recommend it as an acceptable, though not perfect, Monteverde location. + If you plan to enter Monteverde Park multiple times during your stay, it is most proximate to the entrance + The common area bar, lounge, and restaraunt have been recently updated...

My family and I stayed here for 3 nights this week. We were given two of the rooms on the upper floor of the mountain section (22,23) and we really enjoyed them. The rooms were furnished nicely and simply, and there were many amazing blankets on the beds. The linens were definitely a highlight of the hotel. We had a...

Bit of let down, prices for food were a bit high, food was really salty (too salty) and it could be very drafty when outside doors were left open. But on the other hand, rooms were pretty nice though, with own private balcony, the rooms and bathroom were clean, staff were friendly, helped us to organise trips, as we barely...

Nice location (though you can't really have a bad one in Monteverde)...quality service and grounds - closest place to nat'l park entrance and cool hummingbird garden. They just need to shore up some breakfast and generally food-related, growing pains and they will be where they need to be

We were very happy with this hotel. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. The only problem we had was it was very windy the days before our visit and the storm door was damaged so we dealt with a draft under our front door. Other than this it was a beautiful location way up in the mountains and the views...
