The hotel is tucked away amidst cloud forest, which was the first great impression. After you enter the front desk building, a small trail connects the Suites Building. The rooms are fantastic, oversized and cozy, with abundant use of wooden furniture and great taste in general. The pool area is great, with two Jacuzzis, a large pool, and a fantastic...

While the living arrangement was okay, I have serious concerns on the integrity of the hotel's management. We had booked one room and our card was charged for two additional rooms and an exorbitant rate. We never booked or lived in any room other than the one we had booked. I called the hotel and I kept getting the runaround...

This hotel had some of the nicest landscaping we've seen in CR. Combined with views out over the Golfo de Nicoya and trails on the property, it provided a great spot for nature-lovers. It is a bit out of town but easy to get a taxi to and fro. Or if you're doing a tour, you'll be picked up at...

Let me begin by saying the site is visually gorgeous. The views are spectacular; the staff is outstanding. However, management is negligent. We had a junior suite, which consisted of a spacious room with two beds, one a king and the other a queen, which was perfect. The biggest problem with the room was the bathroom. One had to climb...

After a bone rattling coach journey on unpaved roads which is the norm here, the hotel was a welcome respite after the poor hotel we had left. The staff were friendly, the food was good and the sunsets were amazing.

We stayed at the Fonda Vela on a small group tour. I was very surprised that the company chose this hotel. Our room (#8) looked nowhere like the photo. It was dark with a cold tile floor, and a very old mattress and bedding. The furniture was well worn. The TV reminded me of the big box we bought 25...

We stayed in a junior suite which was quite large with a nice window looking over garden area. Front desk and restaurant staff are very friendly and courteous. Rooms could do with some renovations especially in bathrooms. However are good for price. This review would have rated higher if the manager had of taken the time to speak to us...

We just spent 3 days in Hotel Fonda Vela in a suite (Room 32). The room was wonderful. A king bed and a queen bed that were very comfortable, a nice bathroom with a tub/shower, a safe, and a sitting area. Get these rooms if you can! We were only 2, but the view, space, and all the wood were...

Hotel has an amazing view , staff was friendly and easy to communicate, rooms were very clean. We asked for two extra mattresses and blankets and we got for no extra charge. Breakfast was amazing with an omelette station. Nice trails to walk around , Jacuzzi and pool with amazing view. I would definitely recommend.

Very nice rooms, large, and comfortable. Located outside of town but not too far. Will need a car other wise $8 cab fare to town. Helpful staff and good restaurant and pool/jacuzzi area. Would definitely recommend to family or couple.
