A serene, boutique style hotel with amazing food, beautiful room views, and attentive staff. Although the approximate hour drive uphill, on a narrow washboard, gravel road was a surprise it was well worth the journey.

.... after my pre-travel apprehension regarding Tyrolean architecture in a cloud forest environment. Turns out - what do I know!!!!! We had a wonderful four night stay .... most people we met and chatted with only stayed 2 nights in which case they could easily miss the best

Stayed in the sunrise room and fell in love with the Belmar. Great views, incredibly nice staff, and wonderful food. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Monteverde. Such a magical place.

Outstanding room for the price. They make beer on site, and all the food was good. Their restaurant is often reviewed as outstanding and expensive. Imo it was good, not outstanding, but also very reasonably priced.

We mostly ate at Restaurant Celajes during our stay at Belmar. The food was always great and not particularly expensive. There was a pretty good range of options, from simpler sandwiches to fancier entrees. Just FYI: A lot of the other restaurants in the area aren't necessarily centered in downtown Santa Elena but rather spread out throughout the Monteverde area. So even if you stayed "in town," driving or taking a taxi would probably still be necessary. We walked between the hotel and town, but in July I'd imagine it wouldn't be so pleasant...
