This hotel is truly terrible and if I could give it zero stars I would, so the 1 star is for the lovely views. We were greeted at the reception by a grumpy girl who claimed we did not have a reservation, we should have walked away at this stage and thanked our lucky stars, the signs were ominous when...

El Establo is situated on the side of a mountain overlooking the beautiful Monteverde cloud forest. The 9 lodges are on the reachable by a shuttle bus and walking is not really a choice due to the steep hills. once you call for a ride, it takes about 10 for the shuttle to arrive to deliver you to the office...

So my wife says "we should just chill when we get there" I didn't expect 61 deg f with no heat.. a very very cold night later... actually I liked this place a lot. The food was tasty and well prepared, the staff was attentive, and despite a problem with the room we were assigned, we had a good time....

Stayed here for two nights while touring around Costa Rica. The lodge style rooms were lovely - we had a suite overlooking the stunning rain forest of Monteverde. Good location for doing activities and walking into Santa Elena. HOWEVER, not good for people who are not mobile. Be warned if you are at the top of the hill in this...

I stayed at this hotel for two nights in November 2016. The property is HUGE and nestled on a hill in the cloud forest. I think there are nine buildings with each building containing 20-30 rooms. The hotel has an interesting history (owners are Quaker-Costa Rican family), so make sure to visit the reception area to see old photos. The...

Located high above Monteverde the sunset view from the quest room is breathtaking! Staff was excellent. Great happy hour in the bar with comfy seating and music. Dinner at the resort was outstanding. We were completely blown away by the wine and food given this remote location. The lodging was very basic but clean and crisp.

We loved Monteverde, what a beautiful area of Costa Rica. El Establo was recommended to us by a friend as a beautiful hotel with some spectacular views. And even though the views were stunning and didn't disappoint us - especially the sunsets, the hotel itself lacked in so many areas. The Reception staff were not friendly or particularly interested in...

My family and I stayed here for two nights in a loft style room. The grounds are nice, the rooms are spacious with stunning views and comfortable beds but there was a lot lacking for this caliber of a hotel ($300 per night) We had booked another room through Expedia that had a living area and they did not honor...

We stayed here in November for two nights as part of a tour, unfortunately it rained the whole time which may impact on our impression of the place. Pros, beautiful bathroom with bath and powerful shower. Spacious room with potentially an amazing view. Shame we weren't able to appreciate this due to the weather. The dining room staff were lovely....
