It feels like you are in the swiss alps with the Costa Rican views. From the top floors you can see the Pacific Ocean. The rooms were big and pleasant. The food was good. The walk to the main lodge from the rooms was a hike but will keep you in good shape. They did have wifi in the main...

Stayed for two nights during a tour. The accomodation is in Chalet style accomodations set along the hillside above Santa Elena. We stayed in the block furthest form the reception / restaurant, well up a steep hill. it was quite a strenuous climb to our room, though fortunately they do run a courtesy tax service for those who do not...

We stayed as part of a group for 2 nights. Good location above the small town of Santa Elena but a long walk downhill to the town - not pleasant to walk back, particularly in the dark. Small supermarket and interesting restaurant just over the road. The hotel is family owned and is designed to look like Swiss chalets for...

Our rooms were beautiful, and the breakfast was pleasant. Service was always super. No phone and no wifi in room was a little challenging but worked. The staff gave advice about transport to local areas. Rooms were huge and clean. We enjoyed easy walks down to town and cheap taxi back, and stops by many shuttles for attractions at this...

A wonderful view and simmering sunset while sitting outside our room. Comfortable seating provided outside to really appreciate what is on offer. The rooms are enormous, with two huge beds and a huge shower room. Our hair drier was missing but on request was quickly provided. The room was clean and towels were exchanged daily. It is a long way...

The rooms are huge and so is the shower. There is no wifi in the rooms are ours had an off smell I could not identify. There are NO temperature controls at all. It's a very long walk down to the lobby and the only wifi is down there. The beds were hard, the walls were thin, and my bedspread...

Simple, rustic, bordering on Spartan. Uncomfortable bed. Hot tubs not working. Limited buffet for breakfast, but some vegetarian fare. Wi-Fi in lobby only which was not convenient given the hike between the rooms and the lobby.

We were changed to this hotel - upgraded even and this was literal, though we didn't know it till we got there. We drove from Fortuna in our 4x4 taking the shorter route over the mountain tops using rough dirt roads. the views were spectacular. Checking in we were told to wait for the hotel driver to guide us to...

I would happily stay at this hotel again, though it is not perfect. One must remember that this hotel is located in a very isolated location in a small, poor country. The activities at Monteverde are well worth the struggle to get there. I presume that most consumer supplies must travel the same rough and twisty roads that we did...
