This is a great place to stay if you want to relax and be in nature. This is an older hotel, so don't expect new and fresh. However, what you don't get in bright, shiny, and new, is made up for in all of the other "extras" that this hotel offers. So get over the older furnishings and no TV...

Dear lvcoupon, Wow! Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed review. It sounds like you really had a great time in Monteverde, and took advantage of all the area has to offer. This past year we made the decision to turn our Jacuzzi area into the butterfly garden you mentioned, and instead construct a solar heated, outdoor...

We spent 2 nights at the lodge, and the service and food were outstanding. It is a quiet and quaint hotel and we truly enjoyed our dinner in the Butterfly Garden. Our room did not look as up to date as the pictures, but it was acceptable. If we come back to Monteverde I would consider staying here again.

We ended our 2 week visit to CR here. I wish we had chosen to stay for at least another night. There are so many beautiful and interesting places to see in he area and the Mont. Lodge & Gradens was delightful. We stayed in a Balcony room and loved opening the balcony (a screen door keeps out kritters) and...

Dear Stewartcrew, Wow! Thanks for this great review. You really nailed a lot of the things we think makes Monteverde Lodge special. Two things I wanted to highlight from your review for the reader. One is that you mention wishing you’d had an extra night – given the number of things to do in Monteverde, and the fact that we...

We booked the most expensive rooms-forest view balcony. For $228 per room, we found an old hotel that looks old, but reasonably well maintained, so we thought. After returning from dinner, we quickly realized both rooms were filled with bugs. Two beetles were in one bed. A bullet ant was on the curtain (dangerous one inch long ant). We killed...

Dear HillsCA, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Monteverde Lodge. We’re sorry for the issues you encountered. I’ve been reviewing your case with our staff at the Lodge, and what they tell me is that after hearing of the bugs you had found in your room, we offered you a standard room, which as you...

We stayed for 2 nights at Monteverde Lodge this month. Customer service was outstanding from the front desk receptionist to the restaurant waiters. Everyone greeted us with a smile and made us feel welcome. The hotel is inviting, very clean, the grounds are beautiful, and the town is within walking distance. Breakfast was delicious and our table was ready for...

Stayed for one night in a garden room #(302). It was very basic but met our needs just fine. The room itself was simple but clean, however we enjoyed the beautiful grounds and friendly staff. There is no AC, but the cool breezes and fan made it comfortable. Butterfly graden in loby was beautiful and breakfast was generous and well...

For us this hotel was reminiscent of a lodge in our Canadian Rockies including a fireplace in the lounge for the chilly evenings. From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel welcome. Everyone was totally helpful from check-in to checkout. Even the evening turndown accompanied by cookies and special drinks, water jugs with lime. Housekeeping supplying extra towels...

Dear IndyTeacher5, Thank you for the wonderful review of Monteverde Lodge & Gardens.
