Detailed Reviews
We were a family group of 3 couples - and stayed for 2 nights at the Woodlands Hotel.
The stand-out things about Woodlands were the warmth of their welcome, the super-accommodating staff who couldn't do enough for us, and the quality of their catering.
Our rooms had everything we needed: kettle, tea & coffee, TV, hot showers, toiletries, WiFi, hairdryer, and adequate sockets for phone charging. (Extra towels, pillows etc were available on request). The beds were comfy, and the blinds/curtains kept the rooms dark until morning. We were not disturbed by traffic noise.
Breakfast was splendid and plentiful. Though evening meals were not cooked on site, they could have been brought in for us from our choice of local restaurant on a comprehensive list. The hotel bar was small and cosy, and we were all able to order the drinks we wanted, and could relax in comfort.
We had a very happy stay here. 😊

We booked an executive room which was lovely. There was a comfortable bed, walk in shower, lovely soft bath robes and tea/coffee making facility.
However, there was a wedding reception at the hotel with exceptionally loud "techno" music until midnight, which made sleep impossible. When raised with the management, it was put to us that Saturdays were popular for such events. While this is undoubtedly true, had we been aware of this, we would have found a different hotel which was not hosting such an event.
Having finally been able to get to sleep a good while later, another unfortunate aspect occurred. Our room was above the kitchen, and just before breakfast was to be served, the fans were started which woke us.
While the room, the breakfast and the staff (who were very pleasant and helpful) was to the standard expected by its advertising - I would recommend that before booking to stay there, a visitor should check whether they are hjosting a wedding reception

After three postponed dates due to CV-19 and finely on the fourth time Anne and I had the wedding of our dreams. We decided to book the Woodlands Hotel in Spalding, From the first time we met Gan we new that we had found the right place to hold our special day.
We decided to have an evening meal on the night before the wedding day so our two families could meet up and get to know each other it was great the staff were fantastic, the food was to die foe and because we decided on the menu for the night we were asked if any one would like seconds and I have never found that at any other hotel.
The big day Anne stayed overnight and the bedroom was large and beautiful, on the morning when the hair dresser and ladies involved in the ceremony arrived they were all offered a full breakfast if they wanted and plenty of juice, tea and coffee.
Through out the day all the staff were excellent nothing was too much, the day flowed well Gan had his staff well organized and extremely friendly.
The food for the wedding breakfast was well presented, fresh produce high quality totally delicious cannot praise the chief and the kitchen staff enough.
We also had an evening buffet and the food was of the same high stranded totally delicious.
The hotel provided the dicco and was great
Anne and I would highly recommend this venue for any function

Our executive room was poor. Barely a bog standard 3 star room, cold with no heating we could control, not properly clean, the window was half behind wardrobe and a view of house's windows across the hotel flat roof. Nothing remotely 'executive'! Breakfast was below average with particularly cheap tasting sausages (and we have tasted plenty of Lincolnshire sausages). Giving 2 stars rather than one as staff were good. Baffled by the generally good reviews that led us to book.

We booked into the Woodlands Hotel for 2 nights whilst house hunting in Lincolnshire. The room was amazing very large and clean. Has a large shower room with free toiletries. Also had dressing gowns we could use. Large bed and large colour tv in the wall. The food for breakfast was plentiful and cooked perfectly. There was cereals croissants tea coffee toast and a full English breakfast which you can have or you can choose which items you want from the cooked breakfast list foods. All the staff very friendly and helpful. The Manager would also go and collect ordered takeaways for the evenings if required. Comfortable bar to sit in with colour tv to watch. Situated on a main road but road noise could not be heard in the hotel. Reasonably priced would definitely stay there again.

Woodlands is a delightful and charming hotel . Well placed and only 10 mins walk from Spalding on a wide, leafy and quiet road .
Lovely building with a great deal of character , a large car park and outside areas. I cannot fault my accommodation which met all my needs.
From the manager, Gan , to all the support staff , the friendly, caring atmosphere, where nothing was too much for any member of staff, made my stay a lovely experience. I had no delays if I asked for something , it was dealt with virtually immediately. Gan is charming and only too willing to help you have a memorable stay.
I have a slight disability and being given a room on the ground floor made such a difference to my stay. I could not fault the food nor the service at all . Breakfast is excellent ….. Tea, Coffee, full choice of cereals, juices, and fruit etc plus full English or your combination choice .
I stayed two nights for a funeral. A sad occasion but one which was made a good deal easier by the ambience, friendliness and exceptional service provided by Gan and his staff at this lovely hotel.
I would not hesitate to stay again if I am in the area.

Stayed here for two weeks, a lovely Edwardian hotel! The staff were most helpful and kindness itself especially Gan, Nick, Cain and all the other staff! We have been staying here on and off for the past 24 years. The breakfast freshly home cooked and delicious. Takeaways for the evening meal as kitchen not open due to the Covid 19. The hotel provides plates and cutlery and you can either eat in the restaurant or the bar area. Gan, the Manager even goes and gets the fish & chips from Turners which are delicious. Already book to go back next May, 2021! Highly recommended!!!

Samantha & Liam Wedding 17 July
What an absolutely superb weekend we had at The Woodlands Hotel
Your team (front and back of house) are a true credit to the hotel and you all should be so proud of the hard work and commitment you show to your guests
The setting and the preparation you and your team put in was fantastic, nothing and I mean nothing was too much trouble or too much to ask for.
After the church wedding, it was so lovely to sit outside in the shade awaiting the arrival of the bride and groom, on such a lovely hot and sunny day.
The setting/garden is wonderful and I cannot wait to see the photographs
The table setting, seat covers and sashes blew us away, they were perfect, along with the layout of the room. Your attention to detail and the serving of arrival drinks and the red carpet was perfect!
Your two young men who served the guests with fiz on arrival were brilliant, they were extremely happy and courteous at all times, a massive thank you to making everyone smile, as they stood in the searing heat!
The meal was fabulous, I think I only heard one complaint from my son who ordered his steak rare and it came … pretty much well done, but his daughter ate most of it (ha ha) The introductions you did personally was a wonderful touch. We could not have asked for more …. THANK YOU Gan and all your team

I booked the hotel some weeks prior to our visit based on their website, reviews. It is very apparent that this is not always the best policy. It appears tht parties they are ok with, but the normal hotel room occupants they cannot bother with!
We had travelled for three and half hours to arrive at the hotel around 13.30, thinking it would be nice to relax have some lunch, the place had a healthy buzz of customers, it transpired in the restaurant.
A member of staff appeared at the abandoned reception and we continued to book in and pay, we were pointed towards our room, with very few niceties.
We mentioned we might like lunch, and were told most abruptly that they could not serve lunch as they were serving the local Rotary club, and also they would not be serving any evening meals either, ALTHOUGH this is mentioned as being available on the website. We were told that they could make a call for us to order a takeaway and we could sit alone in the restaurant and eat it! Even I can cater for a party and make a couple of sandwiches!!
We went up to our executive room, not much larger than a normal double, quite dark and dingy with a view from the window of a flat roof adorned with plastics tarpaulins.
We went for lunch out and continued to drive into Boston and stayed for dinner at the White Hart, a much better choice of Hotel, well worth the extra drive.
The only slight saving grace was two lovely attentive ladies at breakfast. The breakfast was tolerable, although very clear the produce used was possibly the cheapest that could be purchased, which definitely showed in end product.
Cons:
Poor reception, man with no courtesy, only information given was what they didn't do (lunch, dinner)
Every time this man saw my wife he winked at her (most unprofessional and just wrong!)
Room:
Dark Dingy, quite small for executive room, bathroom was old tired, parts of tap missing and caked with limescale, laminates peeling off cupboards.
Bar,
I think they had one, nothing mentioned, but there was a room with a home looking bar in the corner, all in darkness, not at all welcoming.
Restaurant,
Doesn't serve evening food, although advertised as doing so.
Breakfast, a poor version of a bad greasy spoon café.
Pro's
2 nice ladies at breakfast
We would have talked to someone about this, NO one asked about our stay, room, breakfast. The only way to identify any member of the staff was that, one had chef whites on when we saw him in the car park.
Be wise, stay somewhere else in Spalding or a short drive to Boston, it will be well worth it!
