It is pretty much a foregone conclusion that we will always gravitate back to the Fox and Hounds whenever we are Devon as the food is reliably superb, the service is second to none and you will always be made to feel welcome. We were in Devon for our summer holiday and although we were staying in North Devon, it...

This is a lovely country hotel in its own grounds alongside the River Taw. The rooms are nicely decorated with a big comfortable bed and a lovely powerful shower. The food is superb, possibly the best fish and chips I have ever eaten, and a huge steak and kidney pudding which very nearly (but not quite) defeated me! The staff...

Not far from home and a world away from every day cares. After our joint 60/65 birthdays were low key to say the least,we were really looking forward to our stay. Difficulties with animal sitting made things a bit hairy and we made it. The room is exactly as shown with chocolates & iced bubbly awaiting. We had a very...

We had a relaxing weekend away at this lovely hotel. Great location with walks from the hotel. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. There was always someone available .Good restaurant with an interesting menu and brilliant service. We would recommend a weekend here as it is a good location to visit many areas of Devon.

Our room was comfortable and overlooked the gardens at the rear. The room has a good bathroom but a very deep bath which could be difficult for some people to get out of. The food in the restaurant was good and the service was acceptable. Although on the first night there wasn't enough staff. The drinks were extremely expensive. There...

Thank you for your feedback. I am shocked a little that our drinks are considered expensive as we price match the pubs in the village and for a 3 star hotel are often considered good value at £3.80 for a (superbly kept) real ale. We are sorry that our service slipped a little on this occasion and please rest assured...

This was the first time we have visited North Devon. The Hotel and the grounds were amazing and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room was a good size and so clean and tidy with a wonderful view. We ate in the Hotel and the food was very nice, we would have eaten again if the menu...

Thank you very much for your comments. Our menu has over 30 options all cooked fresh to order so changing it on a daily basis is not possible but hopefully our daily specials add a little extra choice if diining with us a second time.

I have known this hotel for years as it is only down the road a little from my home.It has been our favourite venue for family events and continues to be a favourite eating place. The accommodation is first rate, the attention to detail by the staff is brilliant and if you have any special requirements they are happy to assist.
