I recommend this hotel. The rooms are very clean and well furnished. The staff is friendly and smiling. There are many places to walk around the hotel. The nature around the hotel is very beautiful. The hotel’s restaurant serves very tasty food. We were very pleased with our stay.

My wife and I stayed at this lovely hotel set in magnificent tranquil surroundings in September this year. The rooms are of excellent standard furnished in traditional Rhodopi style, the atmoshere in the restaurant is warm and inviting and the food is of a very high standard. We explored the surrounding countryside visiting The Devils Throat Caves which is close by and also walked to the lovely village of Vodni Pad. On this occassion we did not take advantage of the trecking as we had our chocolate labrador with us, however we hope to try this on a later date.

Wonderful family run hotel built in wood in an old traditional manner near where all roads end. Lovely friendly people. No TV!
Great breakfast included in the rate, here are some recommendations to make its feeling of tradition stronger:
- offer local fruits instead of imported ones
- offer local yogurt (кисело мляко)
- allow some choice
Overall the hotel is a must go if you are planning a stay in Central Rodopi.

terrible owners! we booked a two room suite with a separate bedroom and a seating room on booking.com. when we arrived, first the owner insisted we booked a two single bed room, until he realised he had had made a mistake. the only room left to give us was a three bed room, but he still insisted we pay the price for the suite despite his mistake and giving us the wrong room.

We had a very similar experience to R2436XZerins!
We were not given the two room suite we had booked, we were in fact given a small room with no separate lounge and a tiny balcony with space for only one chair! It was situated right above the restaurant/bar area so was not the quiet room we had requested. All this is in spite of us having booked over 6 months in advance. We asked the manager to fix this situation and he was very rude and unprofessional in his response to us. He told us he had given us the best room which was clearly not true and he was evidently not interested in helping us rectify the situation at all. Due to this situation we decided to curtail our stay, paid in full and left after only one night. All in all a terrible experience only redeemed slightly by the young and polite junior staff member, Martin who was apologetic and helpful.

We stayed at Arkan Han for a little under a week. Everything was excellent. The rooms were attractive, warm and comfortable. We enjoyed the very good quality, varied food and the hotel owner and staff were charming and hospitable. We went for a full day's riding on the beautiful horses owned by the hotel, through deserted valleys and hills. It was a truly wonderful stay. Thank you Chavdar, Donka, Anni and Rumen.

Hello
We were there for 1 night.
We reserved the suite and the room was nice and clean.
The nature around is really beautiful.
We had dinner there and was nice.
The really disappointement was in the morning:
The breakfast begin only at 8.30 and all what we had was cold coffee with col milk and a Bulgarian borekas.
That s all .
When I asked for some vegetables or bread the answer was that it is not included in the breakfast.
Really not a good service and not what I expected!
I won't go back there!

Nice place, no heaters. However, the heating system wasn’t working. There were just FEW heaters which weren’t enough to warm all 15 rooms. The personnel is friendly though. This doesn’t warm me up at night.

I have just noticed that for some reason my review of this hotel was never posted on trip advisor. So I am giving it now:
This is also the letter I sent to the Arkan Han Hotel straight after our stay here (but received no reply):

I am writing to tell you of our deep disappointment with the Arkan Han Family Hotel this summer. This is the 3rd summer we have stayed there. We love the hotel, the location, the food, but most of all the wonderful staff.

HOWEVER, this year was NOT like the other 2 summers. When we arrived, we felt like we had walked into somebody's private space where we were NOT made welcome. It was AWFUL. The staff were HOSTILE !
Where did all your lovely staff go??
The food was also terrible!! My husband asked what the waitress could recommend. She told him the Pork Ribs were very good. They were totally inedible. Must have been from the previous day. Hard and impossible to eat...we fed them to the dog.
But we could have lived with that....but not the attitude of your staff.
We were so excited to take our son there, who was visiting from New Zealand, we had told him all about it and we were so shocked and disappointed with your staff's attitude! We were so happy and excited to be there and this really spoilt our stay.

When we were leaving we were told by the Italian man behind the bar that we owed 50lv for 'the room'. We said that we had transferred the money and we owe nothing (we didn't go through Booking.com as we had stayed there on two previous occasions and wanted to be kind and save THEM the fees) He phoned the woman in charge and then he wrote on a piece of paper OK 30lv !!? We said we are happy to pay it if you can tell us what it is for. 'It is for the room!' she said....'But we have paid in full ! ??!'
We found the email which showed we HAD paid in full...and she put the phone down.
This cost us ONE HOUR of our time..... I'm sorry, but I am led to believe they just wanted 50lv from us.

I am also sorry to say we will NEVER come back to Arkan Han Hotel (much to our disappointment as we have loved it there).
If you end up employing great staff who can actually be FRIENDLY to their GUESTS, then please let us know.
We love Bulgaria and go every summer but when is the service industry in Bulgaria going to wake up and start treating their guests NICELY...nothing special....just BE NICE !!
Looking at the reviews written recently, I just can't believe how people have raved about it...maybe after they received my letter (above), they told their staff to be pleasant to people...? We are NOT the type to complain, and this was our 3rd visit in 3 years because we loved it so much.
After leaving Arkan Han, we were given a VERY warm welcome by The Old Plovdiv Guest House in Plovdiv. Thank Goodness! There was even a whiteboard greeting the 4 of us personally...I just wanted to hug the lady at reception!

Have discovered the hotel by accident just passing by, and immediately decided to stay. Can't say anything wrong - service is five stars, heartfelt hospitality that is sincere and natural, rooms are very clean and well maintained. Everything in details, bed linen and towels are soft, the silence is taken care of by construction of the complex, restaurant was one of the best I met in Bulgarian mountains - fresh products, very well prepared and served with attention. Location is good for mountain walks - surrounded by forests from all sides, horse riding, etc. Very quiet, for those who like us was looking for silence, nature beauty and quality service without compromise. Something very rare to be found in Bulgaria - but here this combination is present at its best.
