Very nice place but some issues that I feel need to be addressed. On arrival the young lady behind the bar didn't know how to check us in, another older lady came out and talked her through what she needed to do. She stood with her back to us not really acknowledging our being there and virtually demanded payment upfront....

It's such a shame about this beautiful little inn, it USED to be so nice. A group of us went recently for some drinks and what a mistake that was. The place was unusually empty considering the time of day and day of the week. The drinks were very reasonably priced which was good and atleast we could sit down...

This is the sister establishment to the Talbot in Eynsham. We originally booked there and because of a mix-up that could have been mine as much as theirs, we were quickly offered the Chequers as a solution. The management team should run courses in how to resolve issues and retain Customer satisfaction! Arriving late, the bar was quiet, but the...

We had a very comfortable room just above the pub which was quiet the night we went. Parking round the back, friendly staff and the room was clean and well appointed. We had dinner in the pub which was unimpressive; tomato pasta lacked flavour & goat's cheese with salad looked good but taste was lacking. Breakfast was really good though,...

We stayed for a Saturday overnighter. We thought the price for our room was steep but due to lack of options in the area we booked the only room available which was a family room. The room itself was small, mainly due to sloping walls in the eaves and very warm (although there was a fan in the wardrobe). The...

I recently stayed here, I booked in for 3nights. The first night I arrived at the hotel after a long day at work. There was no hot water. The same happened on the second night. Luckily on the first night there was a plumber staying in the hotel and he got the hot water working. He wasn't thanked in anyway...

Good Afternoon. Thanks for the review - all be it not great. We were having a spot of bother with the boiler the week you stayed and pinpointed it to a resident altering the timer controls. I am sorry that this affected you on two evenings. We have now locked the boiler controls to stop this happening. For clarity, we...

I was here for two nights, the pub and area is quiet, the staff were friendly and the food was fine. I stayed down for business but found the rooms very small, the desk was around 200mm from the Base of the bed so I couldn't use the chair to sit there and work on my laptop which was a...

A wonderful little pub with bright fresh decoration. Amazing staff and clean comfortable bedrooms with a delicious cooked breakfast. Did not eat in the bar as had other plans with friends but menu looked tempting. Used park and ride to get into oxford and a local taxi service for the evening. However found the taxi driver quite rude and expensive.Would...

We have visited The Chequers Inn before al though I must admit the last time We were there was a fair while ago. I was made aware from a friend that the owner had carried out a refurbishment of the entire pub and menu. As it was a Saturday evening with nothing on the box we decided a early evening...
