Detailed Reviews
We traded through RCI. RCI rated this a silver crown, so I disregarded the poor reviews I read, and figured they were just extra picky people. We added 3 nights to our trip by staying at Sapphire before checking into a week long trade at another place.
All 4 of us (2 adults, and 2 teens) said the beds and pillows were the best we can remember having at a timeshare trade! The sleeper sofa was 2 separate mattresses, so that was a nice surprise. The room was very clean, but not well maintained unfortunately - it just needed simple things like fixing missing grout, caulking and painting, but since that hadn't been done it looks very run down. Also the air conditioning did not work well, so the room was barely cooler than outside (and that was before the daily 2 hour power outage). The room air conditioning did not dehumidify at all, so the tile floors were always wet. There is no ventilation in the bathroom so it was extra hot in there. There was no shower curtain, just a shower head over the open bathtub. Note, there is not an electrical outlet in the bathroom.
You can trade pool towels at the front desk, but half the time we tried to do so during towel hours, they did not have clean towels to trade us. The beach area at Sapphire is really small, and only accessible at low tide. The pool water was always cloudy. We came to visit all the beaches, so we didn’t mind since we used our rental car to drive around the island.
The back up generator only worked 1 of the 3 days we were there, so the 2 days it wasn’t working the elevators were not able to be used when the power went out for 2 hours each day - my kids were terrified of getting stuck in it when the power went out, but thankfully that never happened, but we did have a near miss when the power went out 5 minutes after we got off the elevator and the back up generator did not come on!
I was surprised this was a silver crown. It's very run down looking, and just needs some basic maintenance to look much better.

After 3 weeks at Sapphire, here is what we thought of it.
Positive points: The swimming pool is very good. The Cupecoy beaches down below are incredible. All the staff are friendly and helpful, the cleaning ladies are lovely.
Negative points: The residence is not the most modern, some parts are very damaged or even dirty (I do not recommend going to the spa, the gym and the laundry). The attitude of the waitress at the pool restaurant/bar is admissible. This person seems to have a problem with certain customers whom she does not want to serve and to whom she allows herself to speak with rudeness and aggression. She almost insulted my children who were playing nicely in the pool, she ignored several of my requests while serving other people. His presence greatly ruined our vacation! The hotel's clientele is elderly, even very elderly and not always kids friendly, the food and entertainment are cheap (I advise you not to eat there and be careful of your ears during the karaoke which can be heard very loudly from the top floors). To get to the sea, you have to pass through a parking lot and dilapidated places. These are wild beaches so you risk coming across naturists. During our stay, we had several power outages and a water outage. Housekeeping is rough and it is difficult to get towels for the pool.

This resort is located close to supermarkets, restaurants but not the beach. The closest beach is about a 1 mile walk and there is no transport to get there. You also have to rent chairs and umbrellas for $25 a day as the resort does not supply them. The resort has a great swimming pool, really good restaurant and bar at great prices. It has good wifi which is free and also has a good guest laundry which is also free. The downside is the property is really old and has not been updated for MANY years. Everything appears to be on its last legs. It is a shame as with a bit of money spent on furniture and maintenance it could be brought back to the great place it once was. If staying here it is probably best to hire a car otherwise taxi's are your only option. The resort does not offer any sort of transportation. A lot of good restaurants are within walking distance but walking at night is a little risky. The hotel itself is located in a good safe area though

Don’t be fooled by the photos on YouTube or on their website. I booked this hotel, because there was a great offer and beautiful photos on their website but to my surprise, the hotel smelled like mold, the floor that I was on did not have room numbers, so I did not know which room belonged to me and the child like wicker furniture was completely outdated. It was my 50th birthday and the staff did nothing to make me feel special. I would not call this place a resort at all. The pools were green and there was a small dog swimming in it. It is far from the restaurants and casinos, nightlife and extremely hard to get a taxi if you don’t use the woman from the front desk. There was a paper towel stuck in our peep hole to the room and the gym and laundry area is in a creepy location of the hotel. Barely anyone was staying at this hotel, so it was extremely desolate and there is not much of a beach area. The only positive is that it was close to the Cupecoy area but that is about it. The whole grounds are in need of landscaping and the hotel needs a total renovation. There were no activities as stated on the website which made it boring. This hotel is lucky. It even got one star. We stayed two days and checked out early because we could not take it anymore. I will never stay here again. It could be a very pretty hotel, because the rooms are extremely large, but they need to get it together.

This resort obviously hasn’t (and likely won’t) recover fully from Hurricane Irma (four years ago). The room quality was poor, and the general state of the resort was fair.
That said, during our 10 day stay we managed to have a great time. This thanks to the great location, good amenities (nice pool) and wonderful staff at the resort.
However, for the following reasons I would not recommend anyone stay here:
Our kitchen was infested with tiny ants. Not a lot, but persistent.
There were cockroaches in the cupboards, kitchen, and bathroom.
There was a smell of mildew coming from the air-conditioning vents and water dripping from it. To compensate they set up a portable dehumidifier which we had to empty every few hours and it put out heat which limited the cooling effect of the air-conditioning (though it did keep the room dry).
Our dishwasher broke twice (though they did fix it promptly each time).
The hot tub on the balcony didn’t work (they said it was no longer in service).
One of the ceiling fans didn’t work.
One of the light switches was broken.
The water pressure in the shower was quite low.
The microwave didn’t work (we didn’t bother reporting it).
The parkade exit gate broke while we were there, preventing us from leaving for a bit. It was eventually just left open for the remainder of our stay, reducing security.
The friendly staff and great concierge managed to keep our stay enjoyable, but if we go back to Sint Maarten we won’t be staying here.

Dear mrianmckay, Thank you for visiting and taking the time to submit your rating and review of your recent stay at Sapphire Beach Club Resort. We know how much you looked forward to your St. Maarten trip and we are happy to know that you had a great time during your stay at the Resort. Your kind words to the staff are highly appreciated. Your feedbacks are valuable to us; however, Management regret to know that the Resort did not meet your expectations. In reference to your comments, we would like to convey that unit inspections are regularly conducted prior to Guest’s arrivals. Though there are unexpected situations may occur in between stays, certain statements in your review are misleading. As per verification, your refusal for Resort’s housekeeping services for several occasions was respected by our staff; however, it had led to unfavorable results which could have been prevented if you had allowed housekeeping services in your unit. With highly appreciation, through the years, Resort’s housekeeping staffs have been working persistently to provide a safe and clean accommodation to Guests. Moreover, no further concerns had been reported with regards to the other stated maintenance malfunctions despite the constant efforts and communication of the Resort’s Customer Service Supervisor. Nevertheless, we do encourage you to please contact directly our Team for other experiences you wish to share with us. The Resort is with utmost eagerness to accommodate you as we are intent in restoring your faith in us again. Once again, thank you and we look forwarding to welcoming you back in the future. Warm regards, Management Sapphire Beach Club Resort

Reading the reviews my sister and I were preparing for “not so great” accommodations… However! we were pleasantly surprised with a clean spacious room with beautiful views of the ocean and sunsets. The workers are caring and kind especially Marsha who not only help book a wonderful jeep tour but also taxied us around and made sure to warn us too stay out late (we are two ladies traveling alone) She made sure we had a taxi pick us up and was always there when we needed her. Marsha made us feel safe and cared for .
Thank you for a wonder stay !

We stayed at Sapphire Beach Resort for the first time. The resort is older but very, very clean. If we were missing anything in our room we went to the front desk & it was delivered shortly. The concierge - Marcia Marcano was amazing. She knew everything & suggested great places to eat, shop & swim. The bartender/cook - Veronique made the best drinks, made interesting snacks & had great taste in music. We would definitely come back.

We arrived late on a Saturday and were greeted by friendly staff. All the workers were very nice which made the stay more enjoyable. There were people staying there who come back each year, but everyone has different tastes and this one wasn't ours. There was free rum punch offered and a lady was singing in the lobby. There was a small store in the basement open with limited hours. Check dates on items as some things had already expired. You can walk up the hill to a market to buy other things for the week. The pool area was nice and there was a happy hour for 2 for 1. Our room on the 7th floor was spacious with nice balconies. Everything needed to be updated. The windows and doors didn't close completely, and we had a problem with flies in our unit. Our unit was supposed to sleep 6 but one room with 2 twins against the wall had no outlets and the room was hot, so we closed it off. We were there one week, and our second week was at the Royal Islander in Maho and was much nicer and more walkable with things to do.

The location is perfect. Restaurants and bars are within walking distance and the airport is about a 5 minute drive. The staff is very kind and helpful. Some of the area needs updating like new paint on the iron gating. There are hot tubs on each balcony but they are in operable so they should be removed. The shower head needed to be replaced and the toilet took about 3 tries to get everything down the pipe. The bar options were very limited but they served food, which was very good. But they only allow you to put your charges on your room. Would have preferred a credit card option to pay.

At one time this resort must have been very nice. However, it is very dated and needs a lot of updating. There are hot tubs on every balcony, however, none of them work. We had a 2 bedroom which was nice having a second bathroom although it was only two of us. However, if there were more, the 2nd bedroom had twin beds and no door or curtain on the bathroom which was in the bedroom. The shower stall had no curtain or door so every time you took a shower, water got all over the floor. There is basically no beach (very small) but many beaches are nearby. The restaurant on premises was good enough for a night or two but had a limited menu. There is a convenient mini-mart on premises for the basics. I'm sure the hurricane took it's toll on the resort so if you are looking for luxury, this is not the place. If you don't mind "just the basics", then it is fine.

The Resort has an access to the beach, It will take 5 minutes to access to the public beaches which are Cupecoy Beach and Mullet Beach.
Hi,
