Otorongo might be the best place to go to see the Peruvian Amazon, but if you have any experience with outdoor lodges and expeditions, it's not going to wow you. For the money, the accomodations are very basic - one building with twelve rooms on a platform, no ceilings, and as one reviewer said, you can hear people roll over...

Thanks for your review, I am actually quite upset about the guide , we are a custom expedition company that relies on our personalized itineraries for our excellent service. Seeing that we are a jungle lodge , it is the personal service that is the most important. I am working To find out what guide you had so as to...

A great place to stay. Basic facilities, good food and great position.personal guides are knowledgable and helpful. Animals are harder to see as they live in the rainforest .the jungle is amazing . The Amazon is a truly great river and it's nearby tributaries are a great way to get into what I guess is still virgin Jungle

Thank you for your honest review! I recall your visit even though I was in Iquitos for some of the time, seven days and a camping experience. Thanks again!

Just returned from a 4 night stay. Three couples traveling together. Can truly say it was an amazing experience. As we turned down the tributary to the lodge we experienced the most beautiful sunset. The rest of the time was just as beautiful? Wilbur our guide was more than accommodating and great fun. We never experienced masses of other tourists...

My brother and I are adventure travelers and this was our second time in the Peruvian Amazon and first visit to this lodge and the Iquitos area. On our last trip we stayed at 2 other lodges in Puerto so we have experience with jungle lodges and the Amazon. We had an amazing time with Otorongo. That being said -...

Wow! I guess I really do owe Walter something extra even though he tried to take you fishing everyday. I would like to thank you for breaking down the pros and cons and reviewing honestly based on the specialty experience and not on the Amazonian bacon ( impossible to chew pork chop) others would have given a horrible rating just...

I traveled to this lodge with a college class from SUNY Cobleskill in New York. The accommodations were fantastic, the guides level of expertise and professionalism were exceptional and I can honestly say that the food at the lodge was the best in all of my Peruvian and Ecuadorian travels. Tony, the owner of the lodge, was extremely attentive with...

I did a 4 day stay as a single traveller. I had an amazing experience with an amazing guide "falcon". I did the extreme fishing on both of my full days. Extreme meant that there was a boat driver, guide and me. We went up a small river that feeds the lake. Since it was low water season we would...

We chose Otorongo Expeditions for its high rating on Tripadvisor, its mention in the Lonely Planet Guide, its professional website and the promise of an en-suite bathroom! I had looked into at least 6 other companies but that research only made OtoEx stand out more. The office in Iquitos arranged transfers from and to the airport through our hotels at...

I stayed for 7 nights with Otorongo on my own in the Amazon jungle, and it was everything I had always dreamed of. My two guides (Luis and Taio) were extremely professional and kind, and we became quite the animal spotting team! They ensured I remained safe, while also constantly putting me out of my comfort zone during a 3...

I never thought I would do anything like this, but I am so glad I did! You don't necessarily come away feeling like you've been on a vacation - but you feel like you've enriched your life. My grandson held a cayman and an anaconda AND caught a red-tailed catfish - so all of his dreams came true. (Which made...

What an incredible time we had at Otorongo Expeditions, with our guides Luis and Segundo! For a week these two guys took us all up, down, and hiking through the Amazon, pointed out birds and monkeys from 100m through the jungle, they even led us out camping with the critters for a few nights. They always had an expedition planned...
