This is a lovely cosy pub serving delicious food. We had booked a table on Saturday 4 March as we were celebrating our daughter's 30 th birthday. The service was very good and we all enjoyed our meals- lamb, venison casserole, fish and chips and duck. The desserts looked delicious and we would happily return to try them all! This...

We stopped here a group of 8 they found tables and put them all together for us and the staff really accommodating. The food was fantastic I had Fish & Chips and the fish was longer than my plate....amazing crusty batter and meaty haddock inside. Even the childrens meals were big and everything freshly cooked to order.

Had a fantastic meal in the Horse and Farrier during a family stay near Manesty. Telephoned on the way and the gentleman apologised profusely that there was no room for the dog (at that time). We still stopped and really glad we did. Lovely man served us, even recommending a speciality gin that if we didn't like he'd make us...

Normally the food here is excellent. And I have rated on the usual performance. We have eaten there several times and never had any complaints. We have had the King Prawn start each time because it is so good. Portion sizes are quite big. This occasion we had Sunday lunch. Meat, veg and yorkshires all good but the roast potatoes...

Made a very late booking about 4 hours before I arrived, the welcome I received was superb and the room, food and the whole atmosphere was excellent. Breakfast was also very good and I would thoroughly recommend this place to stay. Close to Keswick and the North Lakes it has got to be a great area for walking and dog...

Old coaching inn style but well looked after and fantastic menu. Food really well cooked and well presented. The Cumbrian breakfast was very tasty and more than enough for even the hungriest traveller. Old worlde feel with real character. Great service and very clean. Well situated for fell walkers with Blancathra just behind and others in easy reach.

We live in Cumbria and are always looking for somewhere new to eat out where we can take the most important member of the family 'Jensen' our mini Schnauzer!. There is plenty of parking so even though the Horse & Farrier is not in the heart of Keswick you don't have to try and find or fight for parking.

We were a party of 6 staying in Threlkeld and had dinner on 2 separate occasions also stopping off once for a drink. The staff were extremely friendly, a good selection of beers and a varied menu. The food was very good, however what I found unacceptable was the way sauces were served in small paper cups on the plates....

Large but cosy country pub in my favourite part of the world...the Lake District. Good food, efficiently prepared and presented. Lovely sincere welcoming staff. Welcoming warm fireplaces enable you to look at the shivering mountains through the windows
