8 of us had steaks here one evening last week. All enjoyed them and the T bones were especially good and cooked perfectly. Our waitress was very attentive and had a great sense of humour. Wine was ok but I felt slightly overpriced. Would recommend it especially if you are hungry as portion size is generous.

Having a long history of enjoying good food here over the years we travelled to Moate with intentions of enjoying a family Carvery Sunday last. On arrival it was clear there were more staff than customers however their presence was not put to best use in my opinion. Three staff members stood behind the carvery area which had no menu...

First of all I want to express my disappointment about your unfortunate experience last Sunday. It was a culmination of several factors, most notably the manager on duty was taken ill a couple of hours into lunch and had to go home and the fact that it was the busiest day in the carvery since Mothers Day with over 500...

Stayed 2 nights and we had a really comfortable, clean and spacious room. Very friendly staff and it is lovely not to be in a chain hotel. Delicious breakfast around a wood fire added a cosy touch on a cold Easter morning. Easy Parking as we were outside the main door.

Stopped in for a lunch break and was delighted to see the great value. Even in the post Christmas period, both beef, turkey and pork roasts were on offer with all the trimmings. Very friendly staff who were very helpful in ensuring swift and prompt service. The Grand Hotel is an institution in Moate, having been the social and meeting...

We were attending a family birthday close by and had booked three rooms. All rooms were large, airy and had everything that we wanted ... Very comfortable. Only complaint that I would have was the breakfast menu which appeared to be aimed at walk-ins where everything was priced. We had to double check with the waitress that we actually had...
