During the last political crisis in Haiti July 6 to 8,2018. The Boucanier became our refuge since we unable to go to PAP. The manager is terrific. The staff is courteous. The rooms are adequate. The beach is absolutely gorgeous and relaxing. It takes too long to be served at the restaurant. Overall, It's a nice local/weekend getaway. However, since we were tourists caught up in a country's political crisis, they raised the price of our rooms. We got 3 rooms; paid the ridiculous price for the first night, and spend the day. We were a group traveling with minors and elderlies. Around 11pm, the following day, we explained to management we did not anticipate spending the weekend in the facility. We were out for an outing and got caught in the crisis thus unable to return to PAP due to road blocks, therefore, we did not have enough money to pay for additional outrageous nights and we will be leaving before daybreak (3 am) when our escort arrives if he would allowed us to stay in the lobby since we were guests the previous nights. The gracious manager did not have an issue with our request. However, she needed approval of the director ( a priest) who was on premise. Around 11:30PM, she unfortunately reported the director insisted either we paid for the 3 rooms at the outrageous price or leave the premises. His behavior seemed lack compassion. We left his premises. Based on local reporting he charged us 3x the value of the room.…
Endroit…
My family and I stayed at this hotel because of a recommendation from a family member. We should have been more skeptical and read the reviews before agreeing to go there. The hotel is about a 10-minute drive to a public beach and has a small pool. Our experience was exactly as stated by prior reviewers regarding the poor state of the hotel. You know you have to be concerned when the bed has a mosquito net over it... Perhaps some moldings on the windows would help keep mosquitoes out of the rooms. Thankfully, the AC in our room worked well but it was loud. Our group appeared to be the only guests at the hotel, which clearly has seen better days. Everything about the hotel was dated and either in disrepair or getting there. I won't even go into the problems with the shower and the failed attempt to fix it. The worst part of our experience was the fact that they turn the water off at night. A member of our party was sick overnight and we could not flush the toilets - can you imagine? Needless to say, rather than complain, some of us spoke with our feet and left the next day and stayed at another hotel. This hotel charges per person and, at almost any rate, is not worth it.…
We decided to go to Port Salut for Easter weekend. We called two days in advance to make reservation. I even ask for a price quote and was told that the rate hasn't changed. The AC was very loud and the mosquito nets on the bed seemed to have not been washed for months. There were quiet a few huge mosquitoes in the bathroom. Rain started pouring outside. Suddenly, I felt like it was raining inside the room. I jumped out of bed to turn the lights on and saw the room completely flooded. Mind you we had a five year old sleeping in the room. There was no house phone. We had to fend for ourselves and go find a pesonnel. The sister of the owner showed up very unapologetic. Like it was our fault that the roof was leaking. We tried calling the owner. He never picked up the phone. After many debacles, they put us in 2 separate rooms. Both rooms looked like they were not kept. They had to sort of clean them in the middle of the night. In the morning at breakfast, the owner finally showed up to give me a half apology while telling me my sister wasn't as understanding. He was more trying to admonish me for not being understanding than apologize. I told him accidents do happen and I don't think he would have giving me a bad room on purpose. But it's the way that the staff reacted that made us upset. He told me he had gone out of his way to accomodate us. That he tought that friendship was more important. Needless to say we informed him we were leaving that morning. When it was time to check out he was nowhere to be found. And the staff handed us a bill of $154 dollars. At the front desk they were short of change. The staff wanted us to leave the $16 us behind. Can youI believe this? So I guess the money was more important than the friendship then. Even on a strickly business level, the rooms should have been compted. Not to mention the filthy bathrooms in one of the rooms. I was being very understanding but I don't like to be taken for a fool. There is no customer service when it comes to money.…
