Nestled in a prime location, Hotel Son Caliu Spa Oasis garners praise for its tranquil setting near beautiful beaches and accessible public transport. Guests have called out its serene atmosphere and the high level of cleanliness throughout the property. While the rooms are celebrated for their comfort and modernity, a few guests note they can feel somewhat confined. The hotel's value is generally appreciated, though additional costs have raised some eyebrows. With a spa, pools, and a private beach, the amenities receive high marks, as does the attentive and professional service.

I visited this hotel with my partner in August after having a fantastic stay earlier in June. before getting into the main detail of the review we would like to give a special mention to the following staff who really went above and beyond to make our two stays memorable!

Vanessa (Pool Bar), made the best cocktails, always made them exactly how you wanted them, remembered our names and what drinks we liked

Daniel (Bar from Columbia) who was always attentive, happy, smiling, polite and efficient.

Geraldo (Private Pool Bar) Who we think is telepathic and seemed to know what you wanted just before you asked for it, and nothing was too much trouble, again always flexible and super efficient.

And last but not least the hotel manager German, who is the reason we booked the second time in August. I am a professional musician and he personally took time to come and speak with me and give me the details of the local music agencies and answered questions about living and working as a musician in Majorca.

He organised a great deal for us personally to come back to the hotel in August. Again, super professional. My partner is senior operations manager for Pullman, Liverpool, UK and has worked for Accor for 15 years and she was extremely impressed with the staff. We did not encounter one member of staff who wasn't friendly, flexible, professional, and attentive, and organised complimentary drinks, fruit, and sweets platter refreshments as it was a special occasion for us

It is very clear that the hotel is run extremely professionally, and we will certainly return again next summer!

The Hotel Itself

Reception
Superb reception staff, all speaking perfect English and all requests for taxis, advice on local area, teas/coffees for room etc dealt with immediately.

Rooms
Faultlessly clean, spacious, excellent air conditioning, and by far and away the best hotel bed and pillows I have ever experienced by quite way! The cleaning staff are also extremely efficient

Pool
Good fair sized pool area with a wide choice of beds, and all with good views of the private beach/sea. If you wanted the shade, there was lots of umbrellas. Basically there were no parts of the pool and lounge area that you would not want to sit. Pool bar was great and the daytime food hot snacks etc were fine although you didn't really need to eat if you'd had breakfast.

The guests are mixed from very young to very old, but it is a perfect atmosphere. Not too loud and not too quiet. The odd group of guys and girls were the respectful type and not the type to irritate. The lifeguards were very good at their jobs and were attentive and discreet, and they did an excellent job of calming down any young kids who were getting too loud or constantly jumping in and out the pool.

Private Beach
Literally 20 yards from the pool and great for a slightly different experience. Was nice in the afternoon and the sunbeams here were a lot softer to lie on. There were two excellent restaurants directly connected to the beach

Breakfast
Superb and every type of food you would hope for breakfast wise, absolutely tonnes of food, excellently presented and constantly being brought out.

Dinner
Dinner was excellent, although in August we only ate a few times in the evening on certain nights. A special shoutout needs to go to the restaurant facing on the private beach that we think is part of the hotel. The best seabass ever in the world about as thick as a 12 ounce steak! I have never eaten fish like that in my life, totally different from any other seabass ever eaten. We ended up eating there a lot, although the hotel evening food is also amazing! Unlimited choice of every type of food you would want and each night had a different theme (italian, mexican etc)

Live Entertainment
I am a professional singer and musician and I have to say that the quality of the entertainment was excellent each night. The best acts were La Boheme, and a girl singing with tracks. They stood out but we missed a few of the other acts through being out and about, but it was all excellent, and the only surprising thing was that the bar area was not as busy as you would expect when the acts were on (but many people did used to sit outside and the views of the moon and the sea were very romantic. Apparently a few years ago the live music used to be outside but now has to be indoors. I can imagine given the surroundings that nice music outside in the air would've been great!

Spa & Gym
Again the spa and gym were very good and we used them most days. The gym is very functional and air conditioned with everything you need for a quick workout and the steam rooms and sauna were high quality as well. We didn't use the indoor pool but it looks great

Private Bar/Member Area
We experienced this over a few days with complimentary passes from the general manager and this was worth it for the quality of the beds alone! A lot quite, and much more of a sun trap, but a nice contrast when you wanted to read or have quite time.

Checking Out
Literally done in a few minutes, taxis called to airports turn up in less than a few minutes.

The Nightlife Palma Nova
All the bars are literally only a 5-10 minute walk although sometimes it was a pain so we would be lazy and either get a taxi to take right to the centre or get a taxi back which was 4 euros and saved a walk up the hill.

Conclusion
What else can I say other than book this hotel! You certainly won't be disappointed! This hotel works well for everyone from old couples, young couples, families with young kids and respectable groups of lads/girls!

Thank you for having us and we will very likely see you again next June.

We spent a lovely 5 night break at this hotel. I think it is an independent because it doesn’t have that corporate chain feel. It is well cared for and the staff are an utter joy - confident in their roles and very helpful. Particular thank you to the restaurant manager and the lovely spa staff.

Our room was located on the first floor with an extended terrace and with access to the Portals lounge - it was well furnished, comfortable with some nice touches but the glass wall separating the bathroom could do with a rethink because the available blind still does not provide enough privacy! Some window privacy film would be so much better.

We stayed on a half-board basis and found the food choices to be plentiful, well made and beautifully presented. The price of food and drink in the hotel was very reasonable.

We did make use of the spa facility and spent a little time in the thermal suite which was very relaxing. There was also a good choice of treatments available which were reasonably priced and the staff were really helpful and friendly.

I would certainly recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to choose it again for a return trip to Mallorca.

The hotel is around 25-30 mins away from Palma airport so ideal. It's a 10 minute walk to the beach and Palma Nova strip where there are lots of restaurants and shops. Staff are professional and friendly, highly attentive too, on almost all occasions where we had dinner, they were very quick to serve us and clear our plates etc. The rooms were lovely, very comfy beds and clean. I was surprised there was no vanity pack in the room e.g. cotton buds or cotton wool as almost all 4 star hotels I have visited have this. I think we may have had a room which catered to those with disabilities as the hanging rail was very low and our clothes were just getting creased. There was also no iron in the room. The lotions were limited to a hand wash and then an all in one hair and body wash (not ideal for anyone with coloured hair, conditioner and shampoo need to be separated. The shower was not very powerful either so used to the hand held shower head part.
It did suprise me that in 4 nights neither our towels or bed sheets were replaced, I wouldn't expect it every daily but maybe every other day?
Breakfast was good, lots of options for savoury and sweet, fruits, yogurts, breads, pancakes, eggs, sausages etc and the coffee was actually nice even though it was a machine. I think fresh coffee was available too.

We had paid for dinner and every single night the restaurant told us we hadn't. 4 nights in a row which got annoying because reception had the info and not passed this on. There was a blond lady who was very helpful in trying to resolve the issue but as mentioned, even on our last night we were having to explain that we had paid for dinner.

Pool area was lovely, I would suggest in providing a few more movable umbrellas. It was busy and hard to find a sunbed were you could opt for shade and sun as they were positioned in a rather fixed way with umbrellas that we couldn't move.

What was great was the little beach just further down you could go to and swim in the sea, this was so enjoyable (beware it's abit tricky getting in down the steps and you are met with big stones as you get in).
I ordered an iced coffee which was lovely, they didn't have any sort of syrups though like caramel which surprised me. I also asked a couple of times for elderflower but they said they didn't have any, even though they were serving cocktails with elderflower in.
Dinner was a little hit and miss, great choices mostly but for me the food lacked flavour. I could close my eyes with the desserts and not tell you which one was which, as pretty as they looked. Also desserts were not all labelled so you had no idea what you were actually eating

The spa was lovely too, again excellent therapists, I had 3 treatments!

I would definitely return, the staff were great, cleanliness and location amazing. There were just a few small annoying things which meant I couldn't rate this 5 star but these things can be easily resolved by management.

Set in a lovely, quiet area just outside Palma Nova it's a great location if you want to chill out but not be too far away from the busy Palma Nova resort.

The Hotel has lots of space, you will always find a quiet corner to relax and always a sunbed either by the pool or the lovely garden area to top up your tan.

The staff are mostly very nice. Daniel who works very hard on the terrace always has a smile. One or two staff ignored guests mostly on reception.

We only had breakfast during our stay. A nice buffet selection and a seat on the outside area to enjoy it. Can I suggest however that some kind of One Way System may be an idea? Like most hotels you have guests going in all directions to collect food and it wasn't a nice experience.

Our room had lots of great features although not a lot of space for 2 big cases. We had a premium room which transpires doesn't mean you get anything special. Booking via Jet 2 we only had this one room type option which we discover is the budget rooms.

I am docking a point for the size of the balcony which is the smallest I have had in my 20+ visits to the island. Just to compound it we had a "Tennis Court" view which is basically the main road which doesn't get the sun until 8pm. One of my personal highlights of any holiday is a morning coffee or evening last drink on my balcony with a lovely peaceful view. I was tempted to lower my score to 3 but this is a bit personal and that is not fair on the hotel.

Overall a lovely stay. Would we come back? Probably not, it would have to be a completely different room and room location (more than happy to pay for that)

If you have booked then don't worry, you will have a great time.

We have just returned from a week's stay at this lovely hotel in Son Caliu. We had booked relatively late owing to the cancellation of a Rail Tour and it turned out to be a very good choice and around 25 minutes taxi ride from Palma airport.

Our room was modern and bright (407) and suspect refurbished fairly recently. Wooden flooring and shades of blue it looked out towards the road and several buildings and with a strain a slight distant sea view from the small but adequate balcony with a table and two chairs. Being on the "city side" the balcony was in shade most of the day making it very comfortable to sit out.

The room was very comfortable albeit we would much prefer a double bed rather than two singles pushed together and there was one small chair and a stool to sit on.

The bathroom had an excellent rain shower, two small sinks and toilet and was more than satisfactory.

We were on a half board basis which meant breakfast which was excellent with a fantastic choice of hot and cold and you could even have a glass of Cava too. Dinner was a different buffet theme each of the seven nights and again the choice was excellent and continually topped up. The wine list had a good choice of local Majorcan wines which were interesting to try.

The gardens and pool area were kept spotless and the swimming pool was a nice temperature too. We found 09:00 a bit late to open although we gather this not unusual in this area.

There is entertainment each evening but we prefer to read in our room.

All staff were friendly and accomodating although we never had any problems during our stay and we would certainly consider returning.

The location is quite secluded and if you want a little more lively action it is only s short walk in to Palmanova.

What a lovely stay we had at the Son Caliu Spa Hotel. The view from outside belies how beautiful it is inside. I particularly liked the fresh flower displays as I am an orchid fan and these are very much in evidence. On arrival we were greeted warmly and our room was immediately available, which was a lovely surprise as we had an early morning flight and expected to have to wait as we have in other hotels. The room was very well appointed, we had a mini bar and a request for a kettle was very quickly dealt with, we went out for an hour and on our return there it was, fortunately we had our own cups but I am sure these would also have been supplied on request. There were robes and slippers in the wardrobe and a large safe, which had a very useful light, so often these are in a dark, dingy corner, with the requirement of a torch to see what you are doing. There was plenty of hanging and storage space, the room was very large with twin beds, a chair and a dressing table stool. The balcony was quite spacious and caught the afternoon sun (we were very fortunate with the weather). The bathroom was beautifully appointed with a very large shower and choice of two showerheads, lashings of hot water and good quality toiletries., lovely large fluffy towels. Breakfast was included in our package and it was excellent, with lots of continental choices, along with smoked salmon, there were lots of hot options, plus an omelette station and pancakes, lots of fruits and yoghurt, and a fabulous selection of bread and pastries. The spa area is very large and extremely relaxing, it was a bit too cold to swim in the outdoor pool, but the indoor pool was lovely. The grounds and gardens are very well kept, as is the beach, which reflect the fact that the hotel is spotless. We found the bar prices to be quite reasonable and on a par with those in resort, the champagne cocktails are delicious. we enjoyed those whilst watching a female vocalist who sang a wide range of songs to suit all tastes. All in all we had a very relaxing break, so much so that we fully intend to return.

Last August 29, we traveled from Gran Canaria to the captivating island of Mallorca. A place of idyllic landscapes that pass from mountain to coast in a moment. Its crystal clear waters, mild climate, Mediterranean gastronomy, medieval alleys... make it impossible not to fall surrendered to its charms.

In a way, finding ourselves “somewhat experienced” in staying through prestigious hotel chains, we want to share through this medium in a few words our review of the Son Caliu Spa Oasis Superior Hotel. Calvia.
Hotel that seems to preserve an architecture and integration in an environment according to the landscape of that beautiful island. Arriving and entering a lobby with cozy decor, perfect lighting, and grouped armchairs, already make you feel at home and invites you to enjoy a relaxed experience.

The pool area accompanied by leafy Canarian palm trees, the warmth of its floorboards and its beautiful sculptures; two imposing lions that contemplate how the pool merges with the Mediterranean Sea. A whole set that creates a calm and serene atmosphere, according to its exclusive and privileged location.

Our room 450 very cozy, raising to a higher level the experience of contemplating the dawns of the Mediterranean (a fusion of colors between yellow, celestial, orange...) a magical, silent and mystical moment, where we believed that the sun rose exclusively for us.

Our experience at this beautiful hotel was very satisfying. Starting from the reception, solving very kindly all our doubts and concerns, offering their services to any need that might arise during our stay.

The buffet was a great attraction for us. Its great thematic culinary variety, with a great focus on healthy and quality food, presentation and design in all its varieties, turning the restaurant into that special place to spend unique and unforgettable moments, which allowed us to enjoy intensely its refined and exquisite elaborations. Of particular note is the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff present there. Special mention to Mr David for his kindness and professionalism.

We would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincerest congratulations to Mrs. Mari, in her capacity as roommaid on the fourth floor and in our room. For that rigour and precision, for his attention and coordination, and especially for the kindness and respect that characterizes him. Impressing every day great dynamism in each and every room, tirelessly providing quality service.

For all this, we will always carry in our hearts the charm of Mallorca.

M & G

Our first time at Hotel Son Caliu Spa Oasis and it was a perfect stay...it really is a holiday oasis! Our room was spacious and well fitted out with a nice balcony, and the communal areas are amazing with classy design features, fresh floral arrangements, comfy settees etc. The whole hotel is sparkly clean. The food is absolutely fantastic - both the breakfast buffet and themed evening buffet meals are fresh and varied kept our interest for the 10 days! The evening entertainment consisted of a range of talented musicians and is a nice addition for easy listening, or even a dance! The outside pool area (although pool was unheated in March so too cold to swim in) and beach is pristine and has lots of sun beds and well attended by staff. The indoor pool was lovely and warm and sauna etc all very good. We also had a range of treatments while our husbands played golf (hotel also offers discounted green fees at a number of courses) and the treatments were very relaxing. The staff across the hotel from restaurant to reception are all very professional and friendly and there seems to be a real pride in Hotel Son Caliu Spa Oasis. It was an ideal base for a mix of relax days and more active days hiring a car and getting out and about visiting nearby Porto Portals marina, Palma City, Andratx etc. We would highly recommend a stay here, and the weather was even fabulous too!

First time stay here and it didn’t disappoint! We arrived at 1am for our check in and it all went very smoothly. We had a lovely deluxe room on the 4th floor which was spotless and well appointed. Room was serviced daily including towel change by the lovely Mercedes, cleaning staff work incredibly hard and are always bright and cheerful to guests. Nespresso machine in room was a delight ( I brought my own milk frother but left the electrical base beside the machine in room 419 perhaps you could keep it for us for our next stay as we will be back!) and we had a side sea view room. We accidentally stumbled across the Portals lounge on our first day and the very friendly young lady there helped us get complimentary access for the week as it wasn’t included in our stay and the hotel was quiet after the Easter break. This was very much appreciated and a lovely extra touch. Next time I’ll insure I book it! However the hotel also had plenty of beds around the pool and beach and there was no problem getting a sunbed at any time. Hotel has a tennis court and ample gym which we used along with a lovely massage in the Spa, excellent and well priced. We also hired bikes for a few days which all went smoothly with the hotel arranging the return of the bikes to Pepes. We tried paddle boarding with the very patient Daniel from the small beach area in front of the hotel. Very enjoyable and only 30 euros for both of us, try it out if you get a chance.
We stayed bed and breakfast and the choice and quality of food was fantastic. My staple became Bircher muesli followed by freshly made pancakes! We tried the evening buffet once on Mexican night and there was plenty of choice and the food was good.
The hotel is in an excellent location and from there we easily walked down approx 400 meters to try different restaurants in the evenings in Palma Nova. The Muelle restaurant directly across from the hotel is excellent too.
The hotel has been decorated to an extremely high standard and the staff take pride in maintaining this, it’s clear they work very hard. Reception staff were always very helpful and friendly too. There was a large tv in the lobby area and the bar manager helped us find the football match my partner wanted to watch. Nothing was too much trouble.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will definitely return and have already recommended the hotel to friends and family.

Very good hotel we really enjoyed our stay. We had a premium, sea view, room which was very comfortable. Beds and pillows were the best we've had on holiday. Shower / bathroom was very good too. Maid service, and every one of the staff, were very friendly. Small negative points would be the WiFi in the room didn't work, it was fine elsewhere such as Portals Lounge second next door to us. There was a bottle of water on arrival but I felt for the cost of the room a couple of small (inexpensive) bottles every day would have been a nice touch. Same comment for the Portals area, similar premium lounges have water available but I guess this is reflected in the overall cost, like I said these are very minor comments. The area around the hotel is somewhat residential so don't expect nightlife, we liked this as its nice and quiet. Its only a ~10min walk to Palma Nova where there is more activity.
