We visited a week after hurricane Ian, and even with the damage from the storm the room and service was excellent. There are two restaurants on the property, one a cafe with casual breakfast and lunch type fare; and one for an evening date with more gourmet offerings. The property is not new but has been completely renovated in the last few years. Beds were very comfortable, room was quiet and well appointed and the location near the ocean was perfect. It should be 100% by spring.

We have been coming to the Sea View for decades. Always a great experience. The staff are amazing. We love them. The owners are amazing. They have improved the Inn so much and they take wonderful care of the staff and guests. No air conditioning but the sea breeze helps. Not for everyone and we are glad!

Staff was great, good location. Hotel is a little old and shows it. Rooms were clean. Not much more to say. The room and hotel were clean and the location was great for our purposes, near to Brookgreen Gardens and Frank's.

Enjoyed the convenience local stores and great restaurants nearby.I was disappointed that the pool was closed since it was the perfect temperature for swimming. The beach is an alternative if you have time to go there.I did not. I just wanted a quick water exercise.I got the room with the noisy AC.

This was our first stay at the resort and had a great time with our 3 grandkids. We stayed in the Summerhouse Bldg, room 311 and it was very nice and clean with a great view of the pool area. Checking in was hassle free and the staff was friendly and polite. Really liked having the Starbucks on site as well as the restaurant and bar/grill. We really enjoyed the pool side bar as well. We hope to stay at the resort again soon. Thanks for a great mini vacation at your resort.

This review is from the perspective of a low handicapper. Hopefully this will be of help as Pawleys Plantation is as breathtaking as it is is difficult. Pros Course is well conditioned though in my round, the Bermuda grass was in transition to rye. Fringes were a little furry and greens were not as fast as they could be. They were resort average. They were all small like a typical Nicklaus course. Sand was smooth and consistent and layout was overall impressive. Especially on the back 9. Fairways were soft but we could ride our carts on them. Greens held nicely. Good practice area and generally friendly clubhouse staff. Cons The 9th hole is ridiculous. Why Jack Nicklaus would stick a big fat tree in the middle of the fairway is beyond me. The hole is tough enough with OB, narrow fairways and an undulating green with a false front. Pro shop staff was kind of indifferent. Pace of play was slow too. I got paired with a single and we later joined with another twosome that as it turns out was slow. It took us 4:40 to finish. Also while they didn’t bother me, the average golfer might find some holes nearly impossible. No 17 for instance requires a mid iron over marsh to a shallow bulk headed green. Range balls were included in the green fee but you only got like 15 balls.

Our family stayed in the condos for a spring break vacation. It was definitely nice being back away from the busyness of the area itself. Our condo was nice and quiet. I would love to have had a fitness center and an indoor pool- there was none at this golf club. Being at the condos in March, the outdoor pools and whirlpools were all closed. We used the airbnb option, and had a great host who provided lots of amenities for our young family.

I have been vacationing at the Pelican Inn for a while now, and it gets better every year. After a long drive from Atlanta, I know I'm home when I see the European architecture overlooking the marsh. Old, gigantic oak trees surround the parking lot where a long walkway to the private beach, hammocks over the dunes, and the beautiful staircase to the rooms. Right on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, it has gigantic waves and very nice bobbing. So whether you're a wave bobber, a boogie boarder, a diver, or a rider, there's something there for you at the Pelican’s own private beach. Or if you just want to sunbathe, sit under an umbrella, or go up to the beach hammocks, even if you don't want to go swimming, there’s still something to do! And after a long couple of relaxing, (still sandy) hours, there’s nothing better to do than the outdoor showers. Better yet, if your not a swimmer or a sunbather, there’s still the marsh and porch. A little marsh house right on the the river is perfect animal watching for crabs. All sorts of tiny (fiddler) crabs and big (blue) crabs alike are so funny to watch, especially at low tide. A picnic area and hammocks make for a very relaxing time. Sometimes before breakfast and lunch, you just want to chill in the while reading a great book, or make new friends, or catch up with old ones. There is always something to do at the Pelican Inn. So if you love delicious meals, interesting people, relaxing breezes and fun times, then go on down! It

My wife and I recently returned from a weekend at this Plantation. We got the Romance Package which included a spa room in one of the villas (i.e., 1970's era condo), a massage from a local spa, two breakfasts, and a dinner at the Carriage House Club (the restaurant on the grounds). Overall, we both enjoyed the weekend - it was off season so the rates were reasonable and the place was uncrowded. We had the entire condo to ourselves - but I don't think I would enjoy it nearly as much if I shared it with two other couples (especially if I didn't know them). The condo is fairly small and the common areas (living room and dining room) would be tight with more than four people in them. The staff was very friendly, though the dining room was understaffed for breakfast which was frustrating. Overall, I can't complain about the weekend - it was quiet which was all that we were looking for. There are probably better places on Pawley's Island - certainly less expensive - but overall I think it pretty much a decent place to get away.
