The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia is a beautiful building. It's situated in a prime location and there are some wonderfully manicured gardens around it. Free tours are offered but unfortunately they were closed at the time of our visit. At the top of the central dome of the building is the gold-covered statue of Captain George Vancouver who explored most of North America, including British Columbia.

This building complex is the perfect encapsulation of what British Columbia is all about. That’s Captain George Vancouver at the top of the main dome…the British Captain who navigated/explored much of the southern coast of BC. Do take the free tour offered because it covers unique tidbits of history and quirks about the building that you won’t find on the self guided tour. Well worth the time.

Stroll around the grounds, take in a spontaneous performance, stay for lunch, arrange a tour. I love hanging out on the lawn when there is a protest taking place. You are right on the Inner Harbour so there is all kinds of interesting traffic; planes, boats, buses, horse drawn carriages. Keep your eyes peeled for all the interesting buildings, some strange, some institutional, interesting materials. Take in the sights of the site.

It’s a very pretty building . You can walk around in parts of main floor and second floor . For self guided tours there is little booklets in many languages , and there is also a gift shop with very inexpensive postcards . They don’t sell postage stamps .

The guided tour of the legislative building was very informative. Sam was very kind and knowledgeable. She communicated the story and fun facts in a clear manner. I really enjoyed this tour more than I expected. There are brochures in multiple languages and an elevator.

beautiful historic building and especially nice in the evening when all the lights come on. we were able to park on the side street i believe it was called Menzies and use the handicap entry. you need to bring ID with you and your bags are scanned at security. i have mobility issues with bunions and with all the walking already i was unable to go any further than the main entry where i looked up several flights and took pictures of the art. next time i would do a tour they are available weekdays and there is a nice place to eat in there too. Definitely returning to explore more thouroughly

If you are English, this will be very familiar. Modelled on the British Parliament both in design and in tradition, this is well worth taking the tour. It is escorted (security) but worth waiting for the tour as you get to see areas that would be off-limits if you walked around by yourself. Enjoyed it a lot
