    Good walking area
The old port area was very near our hotel and I did enjoy walking round here early morning watching the sunrise. There is so much to see from the large wheel, beach, lighthouse and tower. Great for watching the ships sailing up the river

Free walking tour, Old Town Montreal
Free Walking Tour, Montreal - Darren was our tour guide - he was really knowledgeable and made the tour really interesting. We managed to see quite a few points of interest and each one had history. I can recommend this tour - you will learn so much!

Nice for a Day or Two
Quaint and walkable section of Montreal. Nice old architecture, walking tours are informative. If you have not been to other old walled cities, this will feel romantic and it is a historic place. There are a couple of small museums which are supposed to be good, we didn’t go so I’m not sure. Note Dame is beautiful, but feels commercial and they charge $16 to enter. As an alternative, The Notre Dame “Sailors Church” is smaller but free to visit, quite beautiful, and has a nice story to it. Old Montreal is very touristy and expensive. Food is supposed to be awesome but we found it expensive and disappointing as it sometimes is in touristic places. A food tour that takes you through out Montreal might be a good activity if you are a foodie.

Great beach, beautiful clock tower, lovely benches, stalls with all sorts of tourist junk
Montreal's Vieux Port is a wonderful area with many facets. The actual port function is practically the least of it. Unfortunately, the great beach with its lovely white sand was closed for the season. A strange decision considering that on this lovely September day, it was 27 degrees. Perfect weather for sunbathing. The bright white clock tower was stunningly beautiful in the evening sun. The area, quite appropriately, offers plenty of benches where you can sit and enjoy the sunshine. On the way to check out the long line of stalls (with all sorts of more or less tacky tourist junk), a guy zipped right over our heads on a zipline. Wow. If you and your kids aren’t quite as daring, there’s also a colossal Ferris wheel to take a ride in. Vieux Port offers a little something for everyone.

    Romantic beautiful place
Loved the long stroll by the water, in both summer and in winter, when we visited. The Ferris wheel near the zip line little park was great to view part of the city as well. The cafes at the old port area are all fun and yummy. Feels very old tech and very charming.
