    Combo ticket
Beautiful and breathtaking church. I did the combo ticket to see the church earlier in the day and the light show in the evening. I wish the light show was in silence - people were loud. The show was wonderful! Also, don’t turn your phone light on in the church- it is blinding to others!

A piece of Europe right at home
This is a little bit of Europe right at home in Canada.. was honestly very impressed with how nice and ornate it was, definitely has the same or better grandeur than most European basilicas. The craftsmanship is incredible. Also they have quite clean and functional bathrooms which is a nice touch. There are some areas that are prayer only so photos should be avoided, and take off hats out of respect. I also lost my wallet inside somewhere.. came back and asked.. they didn't know.. so I went searching and eventually one of the people working there came running for me and they found it! I was and am so genuinely thankful and grateful. My only constructive criticisms are that for $15 per person the amount you get to see seemed limited.. it would be incredible if you could access upper levels. Also the gift shop was inexplicably closed which was sad!

Still looks the same over the years.
Third visit to the cathedral over the course of 35 years. First two times were voluntary contribution and this time, an entrance fee was charged. I understand the need for funds, but it is a church and should be open to everyone. Only upgrades were the meditation room at the back of the church and interac machine to light votive candles

    Another Notre Dame.
It’s one of the things to do if you’re in the city. Quite a magnificent building, although not particularly old. The inside is very ornate, with some beautiful stained glass windows on either side of the aisle. The huge organ at the bottom of the nave would be lovely to listen to.

    Awe-inspiring!
If you're in Montreal, the Basilica is a treat to the eyes and you shouldn't miss it! We did the Aura in the evening too and it was unlike anything we'd ever seen before--utterly amazing! Get there a little early and try to sit in the middle of the church for the best view.

    Beautiful
What a gorgeous building! The architecture, artwork, and stained glass windows were outstanding. We took numerous photos, and this was a visit we’ll never forget. The admission price was reasonable, and we had lots of time to walk about and view whatever we wanted that was available to the public. Afterwards we did a walking tour of Old Montreal where Notre Dame Basilica is located. It was a thoroughly enjoyable morning.

You have to pay here, unlike Notre Dame in Quebec city
This is a beautiful cathedral, not as big as Notre Dame in Paris though, but having the same lines, stained windows etc as you find in all the major cathedrals in France, Germany etc - a stated elegance, not enrobed in lots of details as you find in the Portuguese and some Italian or Spanish cathedrals. There was a small queue when we arrived here mid September and we had to pay the entry fee of 18 CAD (I think). All the distances in this part of the town are very small and everything is a nice walk. This area reminds me a lot of many European cities, however downtown Quebec City is more on par with the gorgeous little historic places like Venice and Seville

    Beautiful building
Notre-Dame Basilica is a beautiful building. We visited during mass when it was full of worshippers. The art work is fantastic and the architecture is brilliant. This is Montreal's oldest Catholic church, dating back to the mid-17th century.

A unique experience you won't forget
I went to see the AURA Experience. It is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend it. The combination of the music and the lights are a great way to highlight the architecture of the Basilica. It's magical. I would see it again because there is just so much to see and I am afraid I missed some details because I was too caught up in the moment.

    Stunning basilica!
I would recommend booking a combo ticket so you can enjoy the basilica on its own during the day, then come back in the evening for the AURA show. Having visited many cathedrals and basilicas around the world I would say that Notre-Dame is easily amongst the most beautiful, the stunning blue-lit sanctuary in the interior is mesmerising. Dotted around the interior are multiple smaller chapels with detailed explanations of their significance. The AURA show at night is incredible and is a really good way of making use of such a spectacular space. The show is not religious in nature so would be enjoyed by anyone. They don't allow pictures or video during the show and to be honest i think this is the right idea, because it wouldn't do it justice! You truly have to see it for yourself.
